Ì Collaborated with Arizona Arts Live, University of Arizona, Desert Laboratory on Tumamoc Hill, Tucson Car Club and Galeria Mitotera to host Little Amal. Amal is an internationally celebrated 12-foot-tall puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee girl. She visited Tucson as part of a 6,000-mile journey across the United States. It was an amazing opportunity to be part of this event to share unity and hope across the United States and the world.

Ì Invited by Pima County and Pima Play to bring hands-on play every Thursday to the Pima County Historic Courthouse Courtyard. Museum outreach staff bring free, interactive STEM and arts activities for children with a focus on the Sonoran Desert.

Ì Cohosted OSIRIS-REx Day at the Museum with Arizona Astrobiology Center to celebrate the return of the asteroid probe from Bennu. Visitors met mission scientists, tested their landing precision, and used their imaginations to go on a cosmic adventure.

Ì The Museum, in conjunction with the United States Citizen and Immigration Services office hosted children from 14 different countries as they became U.S. Citizens. Although courtrooms are the typical setting for these events, the Museum provides a fun, joyful and memorable experience for the young participants. After the ceremony kids and families had the opportunity to play and explore the Museum.

15,877 people were reached through school and community outreach

Ì Arizona Science Center partnered with CMT to bring a 1,000-square-foot version of The Science of Guinness World Records Exhibition to the Museum. Guests learned about amazing record-breakers, and how bodies react, focus, and endure. The exhibition also showcased inspirational stories, intriguing artifacts and engaged visitors with fun, interactive games that inspired guests and ignited their desire to set their own records.

10,363 visitors took part in bilingual school tours and group visits

7,250 children from Title I schools were provided scholarships for tours and outreach

CMOV@Tohono Chul

Ì Children’s Museum Oro Valley at Tohono Chul continued to grow and expand, adding new exhibits and making the experience even better for visitors to our satellite location.

Ì Anchored by our beloved tractor, kids can explore and play in our Ag Corner. Little farmers can plant and harvest play veggies in the planters, sit up on the tractor and hop around with bouncy farm animals.

Ì Within the tall walls of our Fairy Garden, curiosity takes visitors into a tiny world of whimsical play where they can create fairy worlds and go on adventures of the imagination!

Ì La Comunidad is a community-focused area set for a party – BBQ at the play picnic area, beat a drum, then grab a sweet treat from the playful paleta cart.

We are grateful to Tohono Chul and the Town of Oro Valley for making this possible!

Ì We continued our Chillin’ at the Chul collaboration with free programs for families all summer, where CMOV’s Nature Niños team engaged with nearly 3,000 visitors.

Ì Angel Charity for Children selected Children’s Museum Tucson as its 2024 Impact Grant Beneficiary. The Museum is slated to receive $1 million for the renovation of the new Angel Charity for Children Education Center at Children’s Museum Tucson.

Ì The new center, adjacent to the Museum, will include new program spaces, and expand access for children from Title I schools, benefiting an additional 40,000 students in the inaugural year.

Ì With hard hats and sledge hammers, construction kicked off with a groundbreaking at the Education Center. Angels, partners from Swaim Architects and Sundt construction, and CMT staff and board were on hand as we took the next step in our expansion plans.

Ì The new building, which will also include administrative offices, is expected to be completed in May 2025.
