All Saints Sisters of the Poor

The All Saints Sisters of the Poor is a monastic community of diocesan right in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Our dedication to all the Saints inspires us to remember that it is in the company of all the Saints that we are following Jesus, even to Calvary.

We were founded in England in 1851 as an Anglican religious community and as such we treasure our Anglican patrimony referred to by Pope Benedict XVI as “a treasure to be shared.” That treasure includes many outstanding Anglican converts, including St. John Henry Cardinal Newman, a deep reverence for the Holy Eucharist, and the importance of the Divine Office.

Prayer is at the heart of our charism with our ministries of hospitality focusing on spiritual growth and renewal. We have a ministry of the Word, designing and selling spiritual greeting and holy cards. We have a keen interest in land and wildlife preservation and are currently involved with efforts to help bluebirds, monarch butterflies, and honeybees.

To enter our community, one must be a Catholic woman and faithful to the Holy Father and the Catholic Church, age 21 and older, at least a high school diploma, free from canonical impediments including debts, a desire to give oneself totally to God, and with good physical and mental health. We consider older vocations on an individual basis.

Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

The Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus were founded in Viareggio, Italy in 1894 by Clelia Merloni (1861-1930). In an effort to make the heart of Christ better known, loved, and served, Clelia dedicated the Congregation to the loving Heart of Jesus. Mother Clelia gathered a small group of women who would serve the Church, especially the poor and suffering, out of zeal and reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Within a few years, the Apostles set out for the Americas to assist the Italian emigrants. From these humble beginnings, the Congregation has grown to over 700 sisters on five continents.

The sisters spread devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus by personal and communal witness to the Gospel, commitment to growth in holiness, and ministry to the people of God.

As consecrated women of the Church, they imitate the life of Christ in the world today through education, health care, pastoral ministry, retreat and youth ministry, social services, and missionary activity. An international Congregation, they serve in the United States, Italy, Albania, Switzerland, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Haiti, Mozambique, Benin, Ireland, Ghana, and Portugal.

Applicants for entrance should be Catholic women between the ages of 18-35.

Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm

Through a life of prayer, mission, and community, the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm seek to render loving service to the elderly in the spirit of the foundress, Venerable Mary Angeline Teresa, O.Carm.

The Carmelite spirit encompasses genuine compassion for the aged, seeking to provide the highest quality care in a home-like, loving atmosphere. Founded in 1929, the Carmelite Sisters currently staff nursing homes in eight states and Ireland, with sisters striving to share joyfully and generously the Gospel message and bring Christ’s love and healing to the aged and infirm entrusted to their care.

Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm have convents in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Massachusetts, Iowa, Florida, and Dublin, Ireland.

Admission requirements: young women generally between the ages of 18 and 35 in good physical and mental health who have a high school diploma or its equivalent, plus a sincere desire to serve Christ through a ministry to the elderly.

Infant Jesus

The Carmelite Sisters of St. Therese strive to imitate the life of Jesus through Mary, Mother of Carmel, with love and active prayer wedded to contemplative action. We endeavor to combine the contemplative and active life in the missionary spirit of our founder, Father Edward Soler.

We are united daily in the celebration of the Eucharist and Liturgy of the Hours. We devote time each day to personal prayer especially prayer for priests. As women of faith and hope in eternal life, we zealously seek to witness the presence of God in the person of Jesus Christ through prayer, compassionate concern for others, and vowed community life.

Currently, our sisters undertake a wide variety of ministries. Our sisters serve others in educational programs on all levels, in parishes, serving the homeless, as well as in the maintenance and domestic occupations which support communal living.

Carmelite Sisters of St. Therese of the

Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus

South Central and North Provinces

The Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus (Carmelites DCJ) were founded in 1891 in Berlin, Germany, to blend the contemplative spirit of Carmel with the active apostolate. Their charism is comprised of four facets – contemplation, reparation, spiritual motherhood, and mission. Their life has a deeply contemplative dimension. The life of a Carmelite is one devoted to penance, reparation, silence, and, most importantly, seeking union with God in prayer. In addition to chanting the Divine Office four times a day in community, their way of life also calls them to a half hour of silent contemplative prayer before the tabernacle in both the morning and the evening, a time to simply remain in His presence and love.

From this prayer flows their active works, which as Carmelites DCJ takes the form of being mothers who provide homes of love for the old and the young where they can be close to our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and experience daily His love for them. All they do, whether in active works or in prayer, is done in a spirit of reparation and with a burning desire for the salvation of souls.

Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles

The Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles were founded by Venerable Mother Maria Luisa Josefa of the Most Blessed Sacrament, who began her dream of uniting the spirit of Carmel with an active apostolate in her native Mexico in 1921. One hundred years later, 120 sisters follow in her footsteps.

The Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles exist to stand in the presence of the living God, and with Mary, to make known to the world the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We strive to be Joyful (delighting in life as it is), Authentic (expressing and possessing our true self), Totally Given (trusting in Divine Providence and abiding in His will) and to possess a Family Spirit (sister among sister giving and receiving love). From our own life of prayer that flows into our service of the whole person, we accompany others through all stages of life through education, retreats, and healthcare in their experience and encounter of the personal love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Children of Mary

The purpose of our community is to satiate Jesus’ thirst to be loved in the most Blessed Sacrament with our own love, and by spreading love for him. A semi-contemplative community, we were established in 2002 and have been blessed with young women joining us who have a deep love for Jesus in the Eucharist.

We give our lives to hasten the day when Jesus will reign in every heart, in every home, and be enthroned on every altar in the world! We go out into the world to share the faith out of love for God and love for our neighbor. We think of ourselves as beggars who have found a great treasure, an inexhaustible treasure, that we wish to share with all our brothers and sisters everywhere, so that they, too, will know the joy of being intimately united with God by receiving Him with love in Holy Communion: the wedding feast of the Lamb.

The sisters give talks and retreats and produce prayer cards, books, and videos to help others understand that God became man to redeem us and to stay with us in the Holy Eucharist, that He loves us, and that He longs for our love. Emmanuel. God dwells among us in the Holy Eucharist.

Community of Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal

The Community of the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal (CFR sisters) is a public association of the faithful which was established in 1988 as a parallel community to the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. The aim of the community is to live the Gospel in simplicity according to the ideals of St. Francis, as handed on by the Capuchin tradition. The values uniting the sisters include a strong Eucharistic prayer life, an emphasis on a common life marked by a warm family spirit, joyful imitation of St. Francis and St. Clare, faithfulness to the Magisterium of the Church, and loyalty to the Holy Father. The sisters’ two-fold apostolic mission is hands-on work with the poor and evangelization. This ministry is accomplished through a variety of aposolates, including a soup kitchen, a drop-in center for the poor, food pantries, clothing pantries, home-visits, pro-life work, street evangelization, retreat work, and inner-city youth ministry.

The CFR sisters currently have three convents in New York City, where they were founded, and mission convents in Leeds, England; in Drogheda, Ireland; and in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Congregation

of Mary, Queen of the World

The Congregation of Mary, Queen was erected as a religious institute of diocesan right in Vietnam on September 14, 1953. Its mission is to glorify God through the sanctification of its members and through saving souls with the Church.

Its founder, Bishop Lambert de la Motte, and co-founder, Father Bernard Maria Bui Khai-Hoan, C.M.C., each in his unique way, contributed essential parts to its rich spirituality which has Jesus, Son of God on the Cross, and Jesus, Son of Mary, as its center, teacher, and supreme model.

Our members live in community and are dedicated to apostolates in schools, childcare centers, parishes, hospitals, nursing homes, charity centers for the poor, and caring for refugees and immigrants.

Congregation of the Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi

The Congregation of the Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi was established in 1894 in Hungary by Mother Anna Brunner. The goal of our religious life is the sanctification of its members by living the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and service to the poor, sick, and our abandoned brothers and sisters. Our apostolic service is adapted to the circumstances of place and time. Presently, we are serving our brothers and sisters in our mission hospital Mercy-St. Francis Hospital in Missouri and at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon, Illinois. We strive to imitate St. Francis in his poverty and humility.

Our daily life includes the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, Eucharistic Adoration, Rosary, meditation, and personal prayer.

Congregation of the Divine Spirit

The Congregation of the Divine Spirit is an American community founded by Archbishop John Mark Gannon of Erie, Pennsylvania, on the Feast of the Sacred Heart in 1956, with Mother Patricia O’Connor as founding superior, in response to Pope Pius XII’s appeal that communities adapt themselves to the needs of the times. Our community motto, “Semper et Ubique Caritas” (Always and Everywhere Charity) expresses our charism which manifests itself in our community life and in our apostolate.

The special mission of our congregation is to aid in the spiritual growth of the Christian family through the ministries of education and care for the aged. Our motherhouse is in Canton, Ohio, in the Diocese of Youngstown, where we serve as teachers and religious education instructors in Waynesburg, and at the House of Loreto, our Home for the Aged in Canton.

Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Mercy

Our congregation is dedicated to serving Christ and His Church by doing all for the glory of God through the sanctification of our members and our apostolates. Established in the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska on May 4, 1999, the community traces its roots to its mother community, the Congregation of Mary, Queen of the World in Saigon, Vietnam (now Ho Chi Minh City).

We live our charism of the evangelical spiritual childhood, laid out by our founder, Father Bernard Maria Bui Khai-Hoan, C.M.C., in which we recognize the privilege to be children of God as Jesus expressed by His filial love and as He taught, “Truly I say to you, unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven” (Mt 18:3). We find examples to live our charism in St. Therese of the Child Jesus, and in the true devotion to Mary according to St. Louis Marie Grignon de Montfort.

Congregation of the Norbertine Sisters

Our community in California was founded in 2011 by the General House of the Congregation of Norbertine Sisters in Slovakia. Originally, the Congregation was formed in 1902 in the Czech Republic by Fr. Vojtech Frejka, O.Praem. to renew the Norbertine way of life based on St. Norbert’s teachings and the Rule of St. Augustine. As a contemplative active congregation, we strive to maintain a balanced life of prayer, sacrifice, and loving service through various apostolates.

In the spirit of our founder St. Norbert who instructed “be prepared for every good work,” we are not bound to any specific apostolate but are open to embracing the different needs of the Church. Thus far, our service extends to teaching in Catholic schools, giving retreats and talks, working in the parish office, helping in the Sacristy, and preparing students for the sacraments.

Our daily life is centered around the Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, the Divine Office, and veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Through these sacred channels and living together in community, we aspire to become one in mind and heart.

Candidates must be healthy in body and mind, single (never married), and between the ages of 18-30. We kindly encourage young women to visit our convents if considering a religious vocation. We offer Bible Sharing, outdoor events, and come-and-see visits throughout the year.

Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy

St. Faustina Kowalska was a perpetually professed member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, which was founded in Warsaw, Poland in 1862.

We cooperate with the infinite mercy of God by proclaiming the message of Divine Mercy to the men and women of our time, by imploring God’s mercy for the world through prayer and sacrifice, and by extending mercy to those in need. We seek to fulfill our mission in the Church, which Pope John Paul II confirmed when visiting our shrine in Cracow in 1997, saying:

The Daughters of Divine Charity is an international congregation serving throughout Europe, Africa, North America, and South America. Mother Franziska Lechner founded our Congregation in Vienna, Austria on November 21, 1868. Franziska felt a strong call to religious life which led her to establish our congregation of love. We profess the vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience as a witness to the world of our fidelity and consecration to God. Daughters of Divine Love

The Daughters of Divine Love is a religious congregation of pontifical right, in which its members profess the public vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience, and dedicate themselves to contemplation and apostolic work. Bishop Godfrey Mary Paul Okoye, C.S.Sp. founded the congregation on July 16, 1969, at Ukpor in Nigeria, West Africa.

The charism of the congregation is a generous and loving response to Divine Love Incarnate. The compelling motive of this congregation must be an ardent response to God’s call to love Him and others. The motto of the congregation is: “Caritas Christi, Urget Nos!” (The Love of Christ, Urges Us On!). In keeping with the founder’s vision, the diverse apostolate of the congregation provides services in every walk of life where the manifestation of God’s love is needed. Daughters of Mary, Help of Christians, also known as Salesian Sisters, are contemplatives in action dedicated to serving youth of all ages, especially the poorest. Founded in 1872 by St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello in Italy, with St. Francis de Sales as our patron saint, we are the largest congregation of women religious in the world. We faithfully keep alive our Co-Founders’ charism in 98 countries as we educate and form youth to become joyful saints!

Our life is centered on the love of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, devotion to Mary, Help of Christians, and fidelity to the Holy Father. We serve and accompany the young and their families through schools, camps, parish ministries, oratories, retreat houses, and outreach progams.

In community and in mission, our vibrant spirituality is animated by reason, religion, and loving-kindness which are at the core of the Preventive System of St. John Bosco. As he often reminded the young, “It is enough that you are young for me to love you.”

Daughters of Mary, Mother of Mercy is an institute of apostolic religious life of pontifical right founded in 1961 by the late Bishop Anthony Gogo Nwedo, C.S.Sp. in Nigeria.

Our aim is to work for the glory of God, the honor of the ever Blessed Virgin Mary, the holiness of our members, and for the salvation of souls by the observance of poverty, chastity, and obedience.

The charism of the congregation is to bear witness to the mercy of God by following in the footsteps of Christ, the merciful Savior, and Mary, our Mother of Mercy. Our motto is “Evangelizare pauperibus mist me” (He sent me to bring the good news to the poor).

Daughters of Mary of Nazareth

Daughters of Mary of Nazareth is a Roman Catholic religious community of women. We are a Public Association of the Faithful in the Archdiocese of Boston founded by Mother Olga of the Sacred Heart. Cardinal Seán Patrick O’Malley, O.F.M. Cap., entrusted Mother Olga with the mission of establishing a new community of religious women in 2011 and our Canonical Statutes were approved in 2013.

Our spirituality is guided by St. Charles de Foucauld’s spirituality of Nazareth. As he lived his life imitating the example of Mary and Joseph in Nazareth, so are we called to live in a daily intimacy with Jesus. Starting our daily life with Jesus in prayer and Adoration will transform us so that we may become little vessels of His presence wherever we serve. Our prayer life is nourished by daily Communion, Eucharistic Adoration, Liturgy of the Hours, Lectio Divina, and devotional prayers: Divine Mercy Chaplet, Rosary, and Chaplet of Saint Joseph.

Daughters of Our Lady of the Garden

Since their foundation in Chiavari, Italy, on January 29, 1829, the Daughters of Our Lady of the Garden have been spreading their charism of evangelical and vigilant charity as suggested by their founder, Bishop St. Anthony Gianelli.

They carry out their apostolate in Italy, Spain, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia, Brazil, India, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the United States, and Papua New Guinea.

Daughters of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary

In 1946, Bishop Dominic Hồ Ngọc Cẩn founded our congregation for evangelization and catechesis in the Diocese of Bui Chu, North Vietnam. The first house in the United States was situated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1967 where the sisters ministered and attended school. To assist the pastoral needs of the Vietnamese immigrants, the sisters completed the transition to the South in 1986. In October 2003, the 18th General Chapter restructured the congregation’s governance, establishing Queen of Peace Province in the United States with provincial headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana.

With special devotion to the Blessed Mother as Our Lady of the Rosary, we strive to immerse our lives in the Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious mysteries of salvation and proclaim the grace of redemption to all. We continue the mission of Jesus through various ministries: education, healthcare, parish ministry, and social work. The Daughters of St. Mary of Providence (also called Guanellians after their Founder, St. Louis Guanella) are a religious congregation of pontifical right. Founded in Italy in 1881, we currently serve the Church in 15 countries around the world: Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Romania, India, the Philippines, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Mexico, Africa, and the United States. Founded by Blessed James Alberione in 1915 to take up the modern means of communication for the Gospel and the Church, the Daughters of St. Paul bring Jesus Christ to all people in more than 50 countries around the world.

Our life goal is the same as our father, St. Paul the Apostle: “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me” (Galatians 2:20).

As an apostolic community, we proclaim what we have contemplated. Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ

The Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ is a contemplative women’s religious community with evangelistic outreaches. We were founded by Mother John Marie Stewart in 1972 in response to the call of the Church for a New Evangelization. We were erected as a diocesan institute in the Diocese of Amarillo in 1991 and currently have 42 members from eight different countries. We serve in the Dioceses of Amarillo, TX; Pittsburgh, PA; Monterrey, Mexico and Legnica, Poland. We have a charismatic and Franciscan spirituality and we hope one day to have communities or “Prayer Towns” all over the world.

Our Charism is three-fold: Prayer, Praise and Evangelization. Dominican Sisters, Congregation of St. Rose of Lima

Commonly known as the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne, our community was founded in 1900 by Rose Hawthorne Lathrop, a convert to Catholicism. She was the daughter of the great American author Nathaniel Hawthorne.

As Dominicans, the sisters live life in community, balancing the active and contemplative life. It is through our consecration as religious sisters, a life of prayer (private and common), and a focus on the liturgy and study that a fruitful apostolate is maintained. Our apostolate is to provide nursing care to those afflicted with incurable cancer who have a financial need. Our homes are free of charge and the sisters provide the direct patient care. In tending the ill and dying, the sisters give witness to the sanctity of life, and image, as our foundress described, Mary at the foot of the Cross.

We have two homes in the United States in Hawthorne, New York and Atlanta, Georgia.

Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist

Our community was founded in 1997 under the care of John Cardinal O’Connor. Through the profession of the evangelical counsels, we seek to embody the graces of the New Evangelization, which St. John Paul II announced as “the prelude to a new springtime in the Church.” The spiritual identity of fraternal life in community is shaped by our Dominican spirituality with an emphasis on Eucharistic Adoration and Marian devotion.

The sisters gather for daily prayer which includes the Holy Mass, the Divine Office, a Eucharistic holy hour, the Rosary, renewal of Marian Consecration according to St. Louis de Montfort, and prayer for vocations. The sisters are contemplative first and foremost. The overflow of this contemplative union with Christ finds encouragement from St. Dominic’s missionary zeal, which raises up preachers of truth for the purpose of preaching the Gospel. Franciscan Daughters of Mary

The Franciscan Daughters of Mary is a public association of the faithful established in 1999 to love and serve our Divine Bridegroom, Jesus Christ, the Author of Life, with joyful simplicity in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. The Handmaids of the Most Pure Heart of Mary was founded as a Marian community in Savannah, Georgia in 1916 by Rev. The Franciscan Missionaries of the Sacred Heart were founded in 1861 by the French Duchess, Laura Leroux de Beauffremont and Reverend Gregory Fioravanti, O.F.M., whose cause for canonization is presently in progress with the Holy See. As followers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, the Franciscan Sisters of Dillingen in Hankinson, North Dakota, are a joyful group of women, consecrated to God by the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, living in community. We are an international Franciscan religious congregation of women founded in India in 1844 by Rev. Fr. Louis Savinien Dupuis, a French Missionary. He inculcated preferential love for the poor, simplicity of life, and zeal for the education of women as the special objective of the congregation. Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus

The Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus (Ancillae Cordis Jesu) live in imitation of Mary as handmaid, virgin, bride, and mother in the diocesan life of the Church, carrying out the new evangelization in parishes. Their charism has four primary attributes: Marian, Eucharistic, Diocesan, and Evangelistic. The sisters profess vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience and live a contemplative-active consecrated life of humble service to the Heart of Jesus.

As diocesan sisters, the Handmaids bring a feminine consecrated presence to the local Church. They serve as spiritual mothers in the parish family and help all whom they encounter to find their true home in God. Their apostolates include catechesis/faith formation, youth and family ministry, education in Catholic schools, women’s ministry, liturgy coordination and music, and visitation to the sick and elderly.

The Handmaids were established as a public association of the lay faithful in 2010 in the Diocese of New Ulm, Minnesota with the intention of becoming a religious community of diocesan right. They currently serve in four dioceses and have convents in Minnesota and North Dakota.

The Little Sisters of Jesus and Mary is an active-contemplative community of religious women called to meet Christ in the Eucharist, in the poor, in one another, and in the created world. The first community of the Lovers of the Holy Cross was founded in Vietnam by a French missionary, Bishop Pierre Marie Lambert de la Motte, in 1670.

The Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament were founded in 1910 in Mexico City by Venerable Maria del Refugio Aguilar. Pope Francis urged the Church to go out to the streets and homes in search of the lost sheep. Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate fulfill this call, literally, with our unique contemplative-missionary charism!

Afire with the love of God and sustained by daily Eucharistic Adoration, the Parish Visitor goes out in imitation of Mary’s visitation to families on behalf of the pastor in whose parish she serves God. Through her person-to-person apostolate, she finds, befriends, and spiritually assists Catholics who do not practice their faith, guides them back to the Church, and helps strengthen Catholic family life.

Through spiritual instruction, the Parish Visitor reminds those she meets of God’s immense, personal love for them. Through the religious education of adults, children, and youth, she helps to form intentional disciples who love Jesus wholeheartedly. She guides the materially poor to wholesome social services and activities while aiding them spiritually.

The Pax Christi Sisters were founded on July 19, 1969 by Mother Teresa Santoyo in the Diocese of Corpus Christi, Texas. Poor Clare Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament

Our congregation was founded in 1945 by Blessed Maria Inés Teresa of the Blessed Sacrament in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Poor of Jesus Christ

The Poor of Jesus Christ, impelled by the Holy Spirit to fulfill the words of Jesus, go out to the poor wherever they may be. “For I was hungry and you gave me to eat, thirsty and you gave me drink, homeless and you gave me shelter” (Mt 25:35).

We go to the streets, under bridges, and anywhere we have the opportunity to pray and spend time with the poor. We also shelter in our mission houses where they are welcomed with the dignity of children of God.

We are called to be what Jesus was, acting and speaking as He did. All is His. “Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your name all the glory” (Ps 115:1).

We are attracted by Jesus, who became a poor and humble servant, to become an unreserved gift and sacrifice for all mankind. We want the Word-made-man poor in Bethlehem, anonymous in Nazareth, pilgrim on the roads, abandoned on Golgotha, raised and glorified by the Father. The Congregation of the Poor Sisters of St. Joseph was founded in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Venerable Mother Camila de San Jose Rolon in 1880.

The Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, Michigan, is a refoundation of the religious institute founded by Venerable Catherine McAuley in 1831 in Ireland. Re-established in 1973, it is of pontifical right.

The goal of the Institute is the praise and worship of the Triune God for His boundless Mercy. The charism of the Institute is Mercy, which is found in being a disciple of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, as she stands beneath the Cross of Christ. Go and teach the Word of God! This has been our mission since 1692 when our Foundress, St. Lucy Filippini, formed the Religious Teachers of Filippini in Italy as contemplatives in action dedicated to the Christian education of youth. In imitation of Christ the Teacher, we serve primarily in schools and catechetical programs from preschool through university levels. We share the Good News of the Gospel with those we meet in education, pastoral ministry, youth and young adult ministry, retreat work, and work with those who are in physical or spiritual need.

Servants of God’s Love

The Servants of God’s Love is a new religious community founded in 1975. We began as an ecumenical community and never wore a traditional habit. However, we have simplified our clothing in accordance with the directive of St. John Paul II in Vita Consecrata, #25: “Where valid reasons of their apostolate call for it, Religious, in conformity with the norms of their Institute, may also dress in a simple and modest manner, with an appropriate symbol, in such a way that their consecration is recognizable.”

Our primary call as a community is to be a sign of God’s love, both in our love for Him and in our love for His people. We pray daily in our morning prayer, “Lord, we want to be a sign and a witness today to Your people and to the world of the personal, strong love You have for Your people...”

We also have a fourth vow to the common life as it both serves as a witness to God’s Love and contributes to the joy of evangelization. “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (Jn 13:35).

Our present apostolic works include teaching, campus ministry, evangelism, pro-life counseling, working with the poor, radio ministry, and wherever the Lord calls us to bring His love.

The Servants of Mary, Ministers to the Sick is an international congregation founded in Madrid, Spain in 1851 by St. Maria Soledad Torres. Today we continue to reflect the spirit of Mother Soledad in our ministry to the sick and the dying as witnesses of the unconditional love and mercy of Christ. Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará

The Institute of the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará, a community of diocesan right, was founded by Fr. Carlos Miguel Buela in 1988 in Argentina. We are missionaries with a foundational Marian character. In addition to the three vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, we also make a fourth vow of consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary according to the method of St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort in order to entrust ourselves entirely to her as our mother and model. The Sister Servants of the Eternal Word is a public association of the faithful founded by Mother Mary Gabriel Long in 1987. The Sisters Adorers of the Holy Cross (Les Amants de la Croix) is a religious congregation of diocesan right founded in Vietnam in 1670 by Bishop Pierre Lambert de la Motte. In 1979 the Sisters Adorers of the Holy Cross began their ministry with the Diaspora Vietnamese community in America. On December 8, 1995, this community was officially established as a religious institute of diocesan right in the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon.

The charism of the Sisters Adorers of the Holy Cross is to follow closely in the footsteps of Jesus Christ Crucified to fulfill God the Father’s will. Sisters in Jesus the Lord

Sisters (Canonesses) in Jesus the Lord was co-founded by Mother Julia Mary Kubista and Sister Maria Stella Whittier in 2010 (community life since 2003).

Inspired by their brother community and Our Lady of Fatima, the sisters were founded to help revive the Roman Catholic Church in far Eastern Russia. Their charism is to “live in Jesus” and the sisters are devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. They are called to evangelization in the parish through the witness of their prayer and community life and by sacred music and liturgy, catechesis, including Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and college ministry, works of charity, and pro-life work of all kinds, including Rachel’s Vineyard retreats. Sisters of Christian Charity

The Sisters of Christian Charity were founded in 1849 in Germany by Pauline von Mallinckrodt. Together with three young women, she carried out her mission of caring for impoverished and abandoned children, with a special emphasis on the blind. In the early years of the congregation, their ministry expanded from a crowded day nursery to 16 different institutions educating some 4,000 children.

As Sisters of Christian Charity today, we strive to emulate our foundress’ spirit of courageous surrender to the will of God. We, the Sisters of Jesus Our Hope, are consecrated women who live the evangelical vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience within religious community. Our life is lived at the heart of the Church as a public, corporate witness to God’s merciful love which is the source of all our hope.

Centered on Jesus Christ who is our hope, our community was founded to witness to the hope that is offered to everyone through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Therefore, our community life extends into our apostolate of evangelization, catechesis, and faith formation.

Based on the Augustinian tradition of religious life in the Church, our community life is aimed at being “one in mind and heart on the way to God.”

Our daily schedule includes participation in the Holy Mass, chanting the Liturgy of the Hours, pondering Sacred Scripture through lectio divina , the Rosary, and spiritual reading as well as having a Eucharistic holy hour in common.

The preferred age for entrance is 21 to 35.

Sisters of Life

The Sisters of Life is a contemplative-apostolic community of women founded in 1991 by John Cardinal O’Connor for the protection and enhancement of the sacredness of every human life. The sisters are consecrated by a fourth vow to protect and enhance the sacredness of human life.

Participation in the Holy Mass, chanting the Liturgy of the Hours, recitation of the Rosary, and a common Eucharistic holy hour are part of the daily life of the sisters.

Our missions are carried out with the hope of revealing to those we serve the inherent beauty of their own lives, so that they may see and experience the truth that they are made in the image and likeness of God. Our apostolic works include welcoming women who are pregnant to live with us; assisting pregnant women in need; inviting those who have suffered abortion to hope and healing; spiritual retreats; intercessory prayer; staffing the New York Archdiocesan Respect Life Office; campus ministry; and by evangelizing on the charism of life throughout the country and around the world.

Our convents are located in New York, Connecticut, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Arizona, and Ontario, Canada.

The Sisters of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Joseph were founded in 1976, in the Diocese of Gallup, New Mexico. Their spirit is contemplative in action and it is reflected in their motto, “A Community of prayer and service in peace, joy, and love.” Their charism is based on the unity and love asked by our Lord Jesus in John 17, “That all may be one as You and I are one, so the world may believe.”

The Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of La Salette (SNDS) is an international, apostolic religious Congregation of Pontifical Right, at the service of the Church and its mission. It was born in 1965 from the union of two religious congregations: the Religious Reparatrices and the Missionary Sisters whose foundation originated from the Apparition of Mary at La Salette on September 19, 1846, at La Salette, France.

We are particularly sensitive to Mary’s call to Reconciliation and Conversion, the source of our Charism. Our following of Christ leads us to live the Spirit of Reconciliation in a life of prayer, sacrifice, and apostolate.

Sisters serve in 11 countries: Algeria, Angola, Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, Madagascar, Myanmar, Philippines, Poland, and USA. Our mission is realized in Shrine Services, accompanying women/girls in crisis, school and hospital ministry, handicapped and drug rehabilitation centers, teaching basic hygiene and alternative medicines, youth ministries, serving the homeless and the elderly, and journeying with poor families and small Christian Communities.

Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows

The Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows was founded in 1839 in Italy by Blessed Elisabetta Renzi. She was committed to providing both human and Christian formation and education to the children and young women of her time.

In October 1947, the congregation opened its first mission in Louisiana. Today, the sisters continue to work in educating the young and the poor in six countries around the world: Italy, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe.

United with Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows at the foot of the cross, we are consecrated totally to Jesus Crucified. Our life consists of communal prayer with Liturgy of the Hours, daily Mass, daily recitation of the Rosary, spiritual reading, meditation, and weekly Adoration.

Sisters of Our Mother of Divine Grace

The Sisters of Our Mother of Divine Grace are an emerging community of consecrated life, established as a public association of the faithful in the Diocese of Saginaw in 2010. Formed in a deeply Marian spirituality, we live the St. Louis de Montfort consecration to Jesus through Mary, which reflects Mary’s humility in continual loving abandonment to God’s will.

Sisters of St. Ann

We are in the Church as consecrated women, called to be instruments of Providence to the poor and the little ones.

Our Founders, Carlo Tancredi and Giulia di Barolo, entrusted us to the Protection of St. Ann, mother of the Virgin Mary, so that, like her, we may dedicate ourselves to the young generations.

Our spirituality is centered on the Trinitarian mystery, which is a mystery of Love for the salvation of mankind: “God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life” (Jn 3:16).

Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration

Blessed Mother Maria Theresia Bonzel founded the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration in her hometown of Olpe, Germany, in 1863. She and her Sisters seek to answer the call that Love may be loved through dedication to Perpetual Adoration, Sisterly Love, and Franciscan Joy. For over 160 years, the Sisters have remained faithful to their charism of Perpetual Adoration and to the active apostolates of healthcare and education. The Sisters have been established in the United States since 1875 and currently serve in schools and hospitals primarily in Indiana and south suburban Chicago.

Blessed Mother Maria Theresia’s love for Jesus in the Eucharist continues to be expressed by the prayer and apostolate of her Sisters. As she wrote, “... how innumerable the graces the Lord bestows on us during the quiet hours of adoration. Let us fulfill this obligation faithfully; then we can look forward to our last hour with confidence, for in eternity, we shall continue the loving labor of our grateful hearts: the adoration of God.”

Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Eucharist

Founded in Switzerland in 1378, we are a small group of women vowed to Jesus Christ in poverty, chastity, and obedience, living in community and serving in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph for over 125 years. The Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Eucharist are called to be little and humble in imitation of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.

We live our spousal relationship with Christ through a life centered in the Holy Eucharist. We have a special love and concern for our priests, the young, and the matierially and spiritually poor. Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Wichita

In all things and at all times, the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary try to live Mary’s fiat, thus sharing in the redemptive mission of Christ. Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary were founded in Ireland in 1775 by Mother Nano Nagle. They came to Watervliet, New York in 1881 to establish a home for orphaned children.

Today, the sisters continue to minister to the needs of children in residential programs for the emotionally challenged and the autistic, as well as parish ministry. A habit, daily Mass and prayer schedule, as well as convent living, are important factors in the life of a Presentation Sister.

Entrance requirements include: at least a high school diploma and a sincere desire to dedicate oneself to God; the possession of average health and intelligence; and the intention of generously giving to God what is already His. Age will be considered on an individual basis. Widows are welcome.

Sisters of the Resurrection

The Sisters of the Resurrection were called into existence by the design and providence of God in 1891 when two women, a mother and her daughter, Blessed Celine and Venerable Hedwig Borzecka, began the congregation in Rome, Italy. The congregation has homes in the United States, Europe, South America, Australia, Africa, and Canada. Faithful to the Church and responsive to its contemporary needs, the Sisters of the Resurrection bring God’s hope and love to all they meet in education, health care, and other ministries which God leads them to embrace.

Called to be vibrant witnesses of the Risen Jesus and empowered by the presence of the Holy Spirit, the Sisters’ lives are rooted in a deep prayer life. They take the time each day to drink deeply of their relationship with God in order to bring the Risen Lord to others. With St. Paul, they echo the hymn of Resurrection, “I live now, not I, but Christ lives in me” (Gal. 2:20).

The Sisters of the Resurrection welcome women who desire to consecrate their lives completely to God by participating in a special way in the Paschal Mystery in which the love of the Triune God is fully revealed.

Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis

As Franciscan Sisters, we follow Christ, after the example of St. Francis of Assisi, with the Blessed Virgin Mary as our mother and model. Our life is centered on the Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and our life of prayer.

Our community was founded in 1877 by Franciscan Sisters who had been exiled from Germany due to religious persecution. Our Foundress has charged us to serve the sick and the poor with the greatest care and love, and to never turn away anyone who comes to us for care. In our long history, our apostolate has grown from a small hospital in a rented house into a large, vibrant healthcare system that serves thousands of individuals. We have the opportunity to bring Christ and share God’s love through the Gospel to the many people who serve with us, the sick, and their loved ones in their times of greatest need. Society Devoted to the Sacred Heart

Filled with joy and zeal, our sisters love and serve God and His people in our community apostolate enlivened by the charism of a “Joyful Apostolate.” We teach religion to all ages in an inspiring, interesting, and dynamic way, seeking to bring the whole person to close union with God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Society/Daughters of Our Mother of Peace was founded by Fr. Placid Guste in 1966. We are an Eremitical Monastic Community. Our spirituality is based on the Gospels and St. John of the Cross teachings with special emphasis on evangelical poverty and simplicity. Our life is primarily contemplative, with a stress on silence and solitude. At the heart of our life is daily Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, and recreation in common.
