DESCRIPTION: UMSV remains a place where holistic education means more than credentials. Grounded in our founding by the Sisters of Charity of New York, learners will experience an authentically inclusive, academically excellent education firmly rooted in the understanding of our common humanity, commitment to human dignity, and an appreciation of our obligations to each other. Recognizing the expansion of the broad array of learners UMSV serves, regardless of credential, we are preparing learners to think critically, act ethically, communicate effectively, and lead with purpose with career and life readiness and market-responsive needs in mind.

Investing in Access and Student Success
IN BRIEF: By pairing affordability with accountability, UMSV ensures that access leads to persistence, completion, and success.
DESCRIPTION: Since our founding, the Mount has opened doors to diverse learners. Now more than ever, we need greater focus on what happens after students walk through those doors. Success means support, belonging, and real outcomes—assessed across every pathway, from traditional to transfer and from adult to online and graduate learners, noting that different categories of students require different kinds of support provided.

IN BRIEF: UMSV serves as a model of access-creating higher education in New York City and beyond. The University builds pathways that expand access, support workforce development, and deliver measurable public impact.
DESCRIPTION: This is the moment for UMSV to be New York City’s model of a successful Catholic university—rooted in NYC, connected across boroughs, and positioned to lead citywide and beyond. Our impact is not limited to serving those on our beautiful campus in the Bronx; because of the kinds of education we offer, UMSV is positioned to serve the public. From education and healthcare to workforce development and cultural leadership, we are building programs and partnerships that make a measurable difference in the careers and lives of New Yorkers and beyond.

DESCRIPTION: Building upon the success of growth over the past five years, we will continue to grow, but not only for growth’s sake. Every expansion—programmatic, geographic, capital, financial, in partnership or alone—will serve our mission, strengthen our institution, be thoughtfully planned, and meet real-world demand with commitment to the continued financial health of the University.

DESCRIPTION: UMSV elevates its visibility and voice with continued clarity and intention, ensuring that who we are, what we believe, and why it matters are clearly understood in a crowded higher education landscape. In a time when there is societal questioning of the value of higher education and increasing noise from the competition, we will lift our stories louder and more clearly to lift the profile of UMSV. From recruitment to philanthropy to partnerships, we will lead with a message that reflects our mission and resonates in the market.
