DENNIS J. ENRIGHT AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING This award recognizes an outstanding member of the College faculty. Students vote through an election process overseen by the Excellence in Teaching Committee.

ACCOUNTING, BUSINESS, AND ECONOMICS

The Lorenzo Family Award for Excellence in Accounting This medal for academic excellence is sponsored by the Lorenzo Food Group. It recognizes an accounting student for excellence and academic achievement in the field of accounting.

Steven Thomas Hansen The Business and Economics Medal This medal recognizes a business or economics major for outstanding academic achievement, demonstrated intellectual growth, and development.

Hannah Mariko Thompson

COMMUNICATION, ART, AND MEDIA

The Susanne Breckel, R.S.M. Memorial Award This award for academic excellence is presented each year to the graduating communication major who has performed at the highest scholastic level during his or her time at the College.

Ashley Sepulveda The Kimberly Kennedy-Sgammato Award This award was founded by Joseph Sgammato ’93, in memory of his wife, Kimberly Kennedy-Sgammato ’94. It recognizes a communication major for excellence, creativity, and technical expertise in the communication field.

Sebasteine Adrianne Marquez The Kathryn Magaziner Award This award was founded by Kathryn Magaziner ’38, who was a communication specialist and television executive in New York City. It recognizes leadership skills, involvement in extracurricular activities, and scholastic achievement by a communication student.

Tiffani-Marie Ramsaran The Mary Sinclair Award for Creativity in Visual Arts and Experimental Media or Studio Art This medal is awarded for outstanding work in creative art to a student majoring in visual arts and experimental media or studio art.

Jada Briana Nicole Manning and Brendan James Ryan

The Fonthiller Award for Excellence in Theatre and Performing Arts This award recognizes outstanding collaborative and individual achievements in curricular and/or co-curricular theatre and performing arts areas.

Breeze-lyn Puapi’ilani Morita

ENGLISH

The Marjorie Walsh, S.C. Memorial Award This award was founded by friends and former students of Marjorie Walsh, S.C., and is awarded to an outstanding English major. It is given to the student with the highest grade point average. Consideration is also given to the student who has contributed the most to the life of the Department.

Taylor Barbra Wittick The Elizabeth Marian Murray, S.C. Award This award was founded by the English faculty of the College in memory of its former chair and professor of English in order to recognize excellence in writing. It honors a beloved faculty member who served for more than 50 years. She joined the faculty in 1943, was named a professor of English in 1977, served as coordinator of general education, and in 1982 became curriculum director. In 1990, she was named professor emerita, and worked at the College writing center until her death in 1996.

HISTORY

The Dr. Mary C. Stuart Award This award was founded by the administration, faculty, and staff of the College to commemorate Dr. Stuart’s inauguration as president of the College and is awarded to an outstanding history major.

The Mathematics Medal This medal is awarded for academic excellence to an outstanding math major.

MODERN LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES

The Solange Bruneau Mally Memorial Award This award was founded by Michelle Mally in memory of her mother, an alumna and a former French faculty member. It is awarded to an outstanding French studies or Spanish major.

NATURAL SCIENCES

The Biochemistry Medal This award for academic excellence is presented to an outstanding biochemistry major who has excelled in both classroom and laboratory performance.

Danielle Leigh Quaranto The Joseph McGoldrick Memorial Award This award was founded by Ann Nugent McGoldrick ’27, in memory of her husband, Dr. Joseph McGoldrick, and is awarded to an outstanding biology major based on a combination of academic performance, research, and service to the Division.

Isabel Erika Soriano

The Kathleen Tracey, S.C. Medal for Service and Leadership This medal is awarded to a graduating senior in the natural sciences in recognition of exemplary service to and leadership in the Division.

Skyler Jean Zenie The Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society Award of Recognition This award is presented to an outstanding science major for excellence in research.

NURSING

The Kathleen P. Knowles Award This award was founded by faculty, alumnae/i, and friends of the Department of Nursing in honor of the former academic vice president. It is awarded for academic excellence to an outstanding nursing student.

Caroline Maliwat Bandigan The Clinical Excellence in Nursing Medal This medal is awarded to a caring, self-confident student who has demonstrated leadership, clinical excellence, and professionalism within the Department, College, and community.

PSYCHOLOGY

The Margaret M. Broderick Memorial Award This award was founded by Bishop Edwin B. Broderick in memory of his mother and is awarded for academic excellence to an outstanding psychology major.

Chelsea Garabito The Dale Gordon Boyd Medal in Psychology This medal is named after the late Dale Gordon Boyd, who is described by family and friends as a man of great character, who had a deep love for his family and his fellow human beings. To honor his memory, an endowed medal is given to a student who has excelled in psychology and shows concern for others. The student must have at least a 3.4 GPA and must have been engaged in service to the community.

The Public Policy Medal This medal is awarded for academic excellence to an outstanding public policy major.

SOCIOLOGY

The Sociology Medal This medal is awarded for academic excellence to an outstanding sociology major based on academic achievement, engagement in research, and the student’s involvement with the Department and its faculty.

TEACHER EDUCATION

The Patrick J. Broderick Memorial Award This award was founded by Bishop Edwin B. Broderick in memory of his father. It is awarded to an outstanding student in teacher education who has demonstrated excellence as evidenced by grade point average, successful clinical experiences, and service to the Department and/or College community.

Charitssa Altagracia Taveras The Excellence in Advanced Studies in Education Award This award was established by the Department of Teacher Education to acknowledge an outstanding student who has completed the five-year program. This student has demonstrated excellence in the field of education as evidenced by grade point average, successful clinical experiences, and service to the Department and/or College community.

SETON SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM MEDALS

Established in 2011, the Seton Service and Leadership Program is a student community that fosters servant leadership in the spirit of Vincent de Paul and Elizabeth Ann Seton while pursuing academic excellence.

Each graduate will be awarded a medal from the Sisters of Charity of New York.

For some candidates, diplomas will be awarded at a future date following completion of requirements.
