God made everything
Genesis 1–2
In the beginning, God made everything: the sun, the moon, the stars, the grass, the trees and the blue, blue sea. He also made the animals, birds and fish. Then God made the first people: Adam and Eve.
Prayer from Psalm 8
Jesus, when I look at everything you made, I know: You are special and wonderful. Amen.
Noah and his ark
Genesis 6–8
God told Noah to build an ark.
Noah, his family and some of all the different animals went inside. Then God himself locked the door. It rained heavily, and the earth became like one big sea. But Noah and those with him were safe.
Prayer from Psalm 121
Jesus, when I look at the mountains, I know it is you who made them. I know I am safe with you, because you love me. Amen.
Moses in the basket
Exodus 2
Pharaoh did not like the Israelites. He wanted to kill all their baby boys. So Moses’ mommy hid him inside a basket.
Pharaoh’s daughter found the basket, and Moses’ sister saw it. Pharaoh’s daughter wanted an Israelite woman to raise the baby. Guess who came? Moses’ own mother!
Prayer from Psalm 63
Jesus, I thank you because you want only what is best for me. Amen.
God lets his people cross the sea on foot
When the Israelites left Egypt, Pharaoh sent his soldiers to catch them. Then the Israelites reached the sea, and they could not go any further. Moses told them, “Do not be afraid. God is going to do something wonderful.” God opened up a path for them right through the sea.

Jesus, thank you for all the wonderful things you did. Amen.
How David became king
1 Samuel 16
God sent Samuel to make one of Jesse’s sons the new king. They were all strong and handsome. Every time Samuel thought he knew which one would be the new king, God said, “No, Samuel.”
At last, Samuel asked Jesse, “Do you have any more sons?” When the youngest son, David, walked in, the Lord told Samuel, “This one is the new king.”

Jesus, how wonderfully you made me. I know
I am very special. Amen.
David fights a giant
1 Samuel 17
All the soldiers were afraid of Goliath the giant. Goliath made fun of David. David was not afraid, because he knew God always helped him. So David put a stone in his sling and slung it ... and Goliath fell down.

Thank you, Jesus, that I can trust you always. Amen.
Two best friends
1 Samuel 20
Jonathan was King Saul’s son. He and David were best friends. Every day they did everything together, and they made a promise that they would always help each other.

Daniel in the lions’ den
Daniel 6
The king threw Daniel to the lions, because Daniel loved God above all else. God sent his angels to close the lions’ mouths. Then the king and everybody else knew: Daniel’s God is the only God there is.

Jesus, when I am afraid, I can ask you to keep me safe. Amen.
Jesus is born
Luke 2
“Joseph,” the angel said, “you must name Mary’s baby Jesus. He is the Son of God.” Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. The angels told the shepherds to visit Jesus.
Prayer from Psalm 96
Thank you, Jesus, that you were born as a little baby. All people must sing to you, because you are our King. Amen.
The wise men
Matthew 2
One day, the wise men saw a big, shining star. Somewhere a king had been born! They followed the star and it came to a stop right above the place where Jesus was. Then they gave Baby Jesus expensive presents.
Prayer from Psalm 96
Jesus, I want to give you my very best, just like the wise men did long ago, because I love you. Amen.
Follow Jesus
Matthew 4
Peter and Andrew were fishermen. When Jesus saw them, he said, “Follow me!”
They left everything right there and went with him.

Jesus, I want to obey you, just like the disciples did. Amen.
Jesus calms the storm
Matthew 8:22–25
One day while Jesus and his disciples were out in a boat, there was a great storm. The disciples became very scared. Jesus told the wind and the waves, “Be quiet!” Immediately, the storm calmed down. “You don’t have to be afraid, because I am always with you and I will help you.”
Prayer from Psalm 27
Jesus, you are like a bright light that chases away the darkness.
Therefore, I don’t have to be afraid. Amen.
The boy who had five loaves and two fish
John 6:1–15
Many people came to listen to Jesus. When it was time to eat, Jesus told his disciples to find some food for the crowd. Andrew answered, “Here is a boy who has two small fish and five small loaves with him.” Jesus took the food, said a prayer, and shared it among all who were there. Everybody had enough to eat!
Prayer from Psalm 111
Jesus, only you can do such special things. You give food to all your children. You always do as you promised. Amen.
The good shepherd
Luke 15:1–7
Jesus told this story:
Once there was a shepherd who had one hundred sheep. Then one became lost. Immediately, he went looking for the lost sheep. When he found it, he was very glad.
Prayer from Psalm 23
Jesus, just as the good shepherd loved his sheep, so you love me. Amen.
Never forget to say “thank you”
Luke 17:11–19
Ten people who had sores on their skin called out to Jesus, “Please, help us!” Jesus told them to go into the village. On their way there, the disease went away. Only one of the ten came back to thank Jesus.

Jesus on the cross
Matthew 26
One Friday, Jesus hanged on a cross to take away all the things we do that are wrong. By doing that, he made it possible for us to be God’s children again. That is why we call that day Good Friday.

Jesus, my life is in your hands. You will never let me fall and will always help me. Amen.
Jesus lives!
Matthew 28
The Sunday after Jesus died, some women visited his grave.
He wasn’t there anymore! An angel told them, “Jesus lives again, just as he promised he would.” They ran to tell everybody the good news.

Thank you, Jesus, that you told the angels to watch over me, wherever I go. Amen.
Jesus goes back to heaven
Acts 1
Jesus told his disciples, “Tell other people about me. Remember, I am with you always.” Then Jesus went back to heaven. Two angels told the disciples, “One day, Jesus will come back.”

Jesus, all people on earth should clap their hands for you.
We must sing you our most beautiful songs, because you are the King of the whole world. Amen.
Jesus’ friends come together
Acts 2:43–47
Jesus’ friends told everybody about him.
More and more people heard and believed the good news. They all came together often, and they were like one happy family.
