CMCC’s achievements this year demonstrate the success of this approach in paving the way toward increased collaboration with other health care professions, and helping to define the profession within the changing Canadian health care landscape.
Welcome to the 2024-2025 Annual Report
The 2024–2025 year marked an important period of achievement and renewal for the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC). It was also the first full year of Dr. Christine Bradaric-Baus’s presidency—a year defined by collaboration, reflection, and shared commitment to strengthening CMCC’s foundation for the future.
CMCC continues to demonstrate excellence in academic quality and student success. The 2024–2025 Program Effectiveness Report confirms that the Doctor of Chiropractic Program consistently delivers high-quality education, maintains strong graduation and retention rates, and exceeds national benchmarks on the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board (CCEB) examinations. Student loan default rates remain at 0%, reflecting both graduate success and program sustainability.
Feedback from students, interns, and patients underscores CMCC’s strengths in teaching, clinical preparation, and patient care, while guiding targeted improvements to enhance learning and clinical experiences. Curriculum refinements in biochemistry and rehabilitation have strengthened performance and experiential learning, and the upcoming Entrepreneurship Applications course will further prepare graduates for professional practice.
A defining milestone this year was the approval of CMCC’s new five-year strategic plan. Developed through extensive consultation with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners, the plan sets a clear direction for the years ahead. It reaffirms our mission to educate leaders in chiropractic healthcare, advance knowledge through research and scholarship, and contribute to community well-being.
At its heart, the plan embraces collaborative advantage—the understanding that CMCC’s greatest impact arises through purposeful partnerships and shared expertise. Guided by our core values of Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Innovation, Nurturing, and Growth, CMCC is poised to build on its strong foundation and advance chiropractic education, research, and care with purpose and integrity.

CMCC continues to focus its efforts on creating a sustainable financial foundation to maintain its reputation as a leader in chiropractic education, research and patient care.
CMCC appreciates the broader community of donors that supported the repayment of longterm debt required to relocate to and expand the current campus at 6100 Leslie Street. With this major milestone behind us, CMCC is looking forward to institutional priorities that are aligned with its renewed strategic goals, while always striving to provide innovative student experiences that are supported with and through advances in the chiropractic profession.
CMCC’s financial stability is illustrated through the composite financial index (CFI), a measure used widely throughout higher education. The CFI utilizes four core ratios measuring various aspects of an organization’s financial well-being: the primary reserve ratio, the viability ratio (only for institutions with long-term debt), the return on net assets ratio and the net operating revenues ratio. These ratios are weighted and combined to determine the overall CFI score on a ten-point

scale. In recent years CMCC has maintained a CFI score above two, and at 4.17 in 2025. A CFI score of between three and five indicates the institution should direct resources toward transformation, which is well aligned with CMCC’s renewed strategic goals.
CMCC’s financial stability is further illustrated through consistent growth between 2019-2025 in the General and Internally Restricted Contingency Funds; while Externally Restricted and Endowment Funds have maintained an ability to support annual allocation procedures defined by purpose. These funds support CMCC’s strategic initiatives (including: research and investments in equipment used for teaching and learning), unanticipated events and opportunities, as well as a source of
funds to attract and retain top students in the Doctor of Chiropractic program of study.
CMCC’s commitment to allocate surplus operating resources to General and Internally Restricted Contingency Funds enables the organization to take advantage of strategic investment opportunities, while also ensuring operational, reputational, and business risks associated with unanticipated activities/events can be appropriately managed. The Internally Restricted Contingency Fund grew to $10.2 million with a view to achieving the aspirational goal of the equivalent of a six-month operating reserve, while the General Fund was steady at $6.6 million at May 31, 2025.

sources of revenue continues to be challenged despite general operational improvements in recent years. These challenges include narrowing profit margins in ancillary business units and increased competition from online e-channels serving practitioner supply chain requirements. Considering reduced sources of non-tuition revenue streams, all areas of operational expenditures (e.g. cost of goods sold, and reductions to profit-sharing arrangements) have and continue to be scrutinized and rationalized where possible.
The following Chart illustrates continued improvement in certain ancillary revenue sources
as a percentage of Total Revenues (2023-2025). Year-over-year revenues from the Supply Centre and Bookstore and Continuing Education were relatively stable albeit lower than 2023. Clinic fees (+8%) have experienced a steady increase postpandemic. Research grants from external funders (-87%) returned to levels consistent with 2023. Investment Income (+ 10%) grew due to an increased portfolio balance and favorable portfolio returns. The Membership program was replaced with an Annual Giving donation program, which is reflected in Donation revenue in the chart.

Understanding the Financial Statements
The financial statements that follow relate to operational activities for the year ended May 31, 2025 and the financial position for CMCC as of May 31, 2025, with comparative data as of May 31, 2024. The information contained therein is consistent with the Audited Financial Statements reviewed and reported on by BDO Canada LLP in its capacity as CMCC’s external auditor.
Statement of financial position
Describes the overall financial position or fiscal health of the organization. This statement itemizes assets and liabilities, including deferred contributions, and fund balances totaling $40.5 million (2024 - $38.3 million).
Statement of operations
Identifies the sources of revenue and uses of resources in the form of expenses for the General Fund (comprised of the Unrestricted and Internally Restricted Contingency Funds), Externally Restricted Funds and Endowment Fund. This statement confirms the Unrestricted and Internally Restricted Contingency Funds finished the year ended May 31, 2025 with revenues in excess of expenses in the amount of $0.6 million (2024 - $0.5 million) and $1.1 million (2024 - $1.1 million), respectively.
Statement of changes in fund balances
Describes the changes in fund balances to highlight flow of resources and non-operating changes for the year ended May 31, 2025. During the 2025 fiscal year, CMCC purchased $2.6 million (2024 - $1.2 million) of capital assets funded from Unrestricted funds, of which $1.9 million (2024 - $nil) was replenished from the Internally Restricted Contingency Fund via an
inter-fund transfer. In addition, $0.9 million (2024 - $0.7 million) of accumulated reserves was transferred from Unrestricted funds to the Internally Restricted Contingency Fund to support board-approved unforeseen expenditures or future strategic projects.
Restricted fund balances were accumulated for specific purposes in accordance with the wishes/ direction of donors and grantors. Total restricted funds on hand as of May 31, 2025 were $2.1 million (2024 - $1.9 million). CMCC’s Restricted Funds include the Canadian Chiropractic Historical Association (CCHA); Governors’ Club; Research; and Scholarship, Bursary and Other Trust Funds.
The fund balances each reflect increment growth in accumulated ending balances and represent the net asset values reported on the Statement of Financial Position. The reported fund balances represent the accumulated excess of revenues over expenses and interfund transfers since their inception.
Statement of cash flows
Describes the movement of cash in support of CMCC’s operational, financing and investing activities for the year ended May 31, 2025. During the 2025 fiscal year, cash of $2.1 million (2024 - $2.4 million) was generated from operating activities. Primary uses of cash were for the purchase of capital assets (2025 - $2.6 million and 2024 - $1.2 million) and investments (2025 - $1.2 million and 2024 - $0.8 million), funded in part by the redemption of guaranteed investment certificates (2025 - $2.0 million redemption and 2024 - $90 thousand purchase). In addition, financing activities generated $112 thousand (2024 - utilized $32 thousand), including $30 thousand release of cash from the tuition trust (2024 – transferred $132 thousand).
