Saint Columbkille Partnership School is a community of families, educators, and partners inspired by the values of the Gospel. We are committed to the education of children of all backgrounds in an environment that cultivates respect, mutuality, and care. Rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition, we search for the truth with joy, practice the good with conviction, and contemplate the beautiful as we prepare students for lives of faith, service, and leadership.
In September 1901, Saint Columbkille Parish School opened its doors to students in the Allston-Brighton community for the first time. And in September 2021, Saint Columbkille Partnership School started its 120th school year. STCPS has been a mainstay within its surrounding community and has educated children for many generations.
Additionally, St. Columbkille parish marked its sesquicentennial, 150th anniversary, this year. The parish was named for St. Columba, an Irish abbot and missionary evangelist who is credited with spreading Christianity in what is today Scotland. Columba translates to “dove,” symbolizing peace and the Holy Spirit, and Columbkille translates to “dove of the church.” The dove is ever present in the school’s logo, serving as a reminder to build a community of peace.

The partnership with Boston College (BC) has been an amazing connection for the Saint Columbkille community. The Emerging Leader Program (ELP) at BC is a one-year leadership development program that equips and empowers freshman students to engage in leadership during their time at Boston College and beyond. They volunteered at Saint Cols in classrooms, as part of after-school clubs and activities and for one-on-one tutoring. Their involvement assisted teachers in their day-to-day lessons and helped students across grades at the school. Additionally, ELP put on BC’s 17th annual Bring It to the Heights talent show competition, with all event proceeds supporting Saint Columbkille’s financial aid program.

The 12th annual BC Race to Educate included almost 1,000 participants for the kids fun runs and the 5K race on the Boston College campus. The event raised more than $160,000 to support programs and services ensuring that all students at Saint Columbkille receive a high-quality Catholic education. The 2022 event included 171 fundraising teams and 775 donations to support Saint Columbkille.

Leaving a lasting legacy to Saint Columbkille as part of estate planning provides opportunities for future generations of graduates and a chance for them to have an enriching and challenging academic experience.
