WELCOME We take great pride in our offering for this year’s sale, we feel this is a strong set of bulls and heifers that we can offer to our customers that represent the foundation of our breeding program. All the Limousin cattle are participants in the Limousin Legacy project allowing us the opportunity to offer 100k tested cattle as well as parent verified. We have also collected DNA on all Angus cattle and are willing to submit DNA at the request of the buyer. This is the first year we have offered Angus females to the public since beginning to regrow our Angus herd in Bragg Creek. We are very proud of these females and believe they will go on to do great things, especially with dense pedigrees featuring notable names such as Bank Note, South Point, Seedstock, and Earnan. As always we are deeply focused on our Limousin offering being majority homozygous polled, as our herd is close to 95% homozygous polled by pedigree or by test. Our goal is to eventually get to 100%. We believe this is a trait that we can offer our customers by committing to as seedstock breeders. This year the sale will be at 2pm at the ranch in Bragg Creek, however we would like to offer the opportunity for visitors prior to sale day, bulls are housed at SSS Red Angus until March 17th and females are at the home place, please contact Rob or Amanda for viewing and we are happy to accommodate you. Videos will be posted in early March, and once again we are happy to partner with DLMS for videoing and will be also available on Sale Day for online bidding for those unable to attend. We can keep bulls until delivery. We would like all bulls picked up or delivered by May 1 unless previous arrangements have been made. These bulls must be insured. Pick-up on sale day would be greatly appreciated.

All bulls sell under the standard breeding guarantee and Highland Stock Farms assumes no liability for accidents, guidelines recommended by the Canadian Limousin and theft, injury, disease, or damages occuring at the sale site. The current situation in regards to COVID is a fluid situation that is impossible to predict. What we do know: The sale will take place as usual, in a live auction format. Online bidding will be available on DLMS.ca. The size of our sale facility offers a lot of room for the people who are in attendance to be comfortably spaced. We will supply hand sanitizer and masks, and will do everything in our power to offer a safe environment for our customers. If you are not comfortable coming to the sale, please feel free to come and look at the cattle beforehand, and utilize the sale staff or online bidding to participate Unfortunately, the sale can’t be the same social event as in years prior. We will plan and hope for the 2023 sale to be the usual event that we all enjoy. As with any business or setting, if you don’t feel well, please stay home. OUR EMPHASIS ON HOMOZYGOUS POLLED We at Highland believe that the homozygous polled trait is the most important thing we can pass on to commercial cattlemen. If you use a homozygous polled bull, you will not have to deal with horns. We do not use the term double polled as all it means is that the parents are polled and the offspring have not been tested or they did not pass the homozygous test. We have only used homozygous bulls for several years and our goal is to have a homozygous polled herd of which we will be very close to 95%. There’s only one bull in the sale that is not homozygous polled.
LIMOUSIN LEGACY GENETIC ADVANCEMENT PROJECT The Canadian Limousin Association is proud to partner with Neogen Canada to offer GGP 100K DNA testing. This is a powerful project that will deliver accurate genomically enhanced EPDs, backed by parentage verified pedigree. 35J is out of a two year old heifer and is the only son of Friar in the sale. A maternal sister of Friar’s sold for $13500 to Highland last fall in the JYF Piece of the Pie Sale.
38J’s dam is sired by Canadian Impact the first Limousin to win a Supreme Champion at the Canadian Western Agribition in 2017 and later sold for a record $90000. Canadian Impact in turn sired Electric Impact, the Supreme Bull at the 2019 Agribition. 38J is Revington’s first offering in our bull sales as well.
