We welcome everyone to our 2024 Bull Sale. Our Limousin bulls are about 2/3 black and all but one are homozygous polled. We believe our Angus offering is one of our best ever. As you can see, the majority of the bulls are December and January born. These bulls are more mature than typical yearlings and ready to go to work when you need them turned out; performing better than most two year olds due to strong libidos. All scrotal measurements and weights will be available at the time of the sale. Videos will be on DLMS mid February. Also, we will deliver the bulls prior to April 30th, but it would be greatly appreciated if the bulls are picked up at the sale. I should note that we will be offering a strong pen of heifers – both Limousin and Angus. I don’t need to tell any of you that 2023 has been an interesting year– cattle prices were a savior as we have never spent so much on feed in previous years. All farm expenses: insurance, machinery, parts, fence posts or fuel stretched all of us. We really hope that 2024 will not be a drought and all of us can get back to normal. We had some great non cattle related things happen last year. Our granddaughter Cassidy was engaged to Simmental breeder Riley Chalack of Ultra Livestock and our daughter Amanda married Noah Fileccia on August 25th at the ranch. Amanda runs day to day operations and Noah is an electrician, her two sons, Holt and Revington are becoming more and more involved in 4H and junior cattle shows. Announcements from the auction block take precedents over printed material. No release will be given until satisfactory settlement has been made. BOARD ON SALE BULLS We can keep bulls until delivery. We would like all bulls picked up or delivered by May 1 unless previous arrangements have been made. These bulls must be insured. Pick-up on sale day would be greatly appreciated. EMPHASIS ON HOMOZYGOUS POLLED We at Highland believe that the homozygous polled trait is the most important thing we can pass on to commercial cattlemen. If you use a homozygous polled bull, you will not have to deal with horns. We do not use the term double polled as all it means is that the parents are polled and the offspring have not been tested or they did not pass the homozygous test. We have only used homozygous bulls for several years and our goal is to have a homozygous polled herd of which we will be very close, as we only have one cow in our herd that is not homozygous polled and she is 13 years old. Possibly the star of the Angus bull pen. He has been a performance leader since birth. His sire was purchased from Pahl Livestock as their lead bull in 2021. Unfortunately, he was injured and we only got seven excellent calves. 208K’s dam was purchased from Greenwood in the Angus Collection Sale.
