LOCATION CONCEPT S TAT E M E N T
N
As a holistic approach to healthcare and wellness becomes more widespread, medical professionals are learning to adapt conventional medicine to work with integrative approaches that include an understanding and respect for the mental, emotional, and spiritual components of healing, are central to Baptist Health’s belief system. Our design’s guiding principles are legibility, privacy, and involuntary attention. These three principles are connected in a design language that transports the user into a restorative healing atmosphere, shifting the unfavorable perception associated with healthcare facilities. We seek to improve people’s relationships towards their health by taking a proactive and preventative role through design strategies that incorporate natural and architectural elements that support well-being. Design Guidelines Involuntary Attention: “Requires little or no conscious effort. It is often the result of feeling as if we have escaped into a “whole other world” where we can experience feelings of connectedness with something larger than our immediate surroundings (Pollack & Menconi, 2004, p. 44).” 2
ALTON ROAD & 7th STREET VIEW
SW PERSPECTIVE
Legibility: “Characteristics that aid the ability to understand and remember and environment (Pollack & Menconi, 2004, p. 46).” Prospect and Refuge: “Prospect is the ability to see what is around us, a vantage point. Refuge is the presence of a shelter, backup element, camouflage, or a symbol of security (Pollack & Menconi, 2004, p. 51).” Sociopetal Spaces: “Are designed to encourage interaction and communication with others (Sommer, 1969, as cited in Pollack & Menconi, 2004, p. 55).” Light: “We need natural light to be healthy physically and emotionally (Pollack & Menconi, 2004, p. 57).” Privacy: “Opportunities for self-discovery and to expirement with new behaviors without judgement of others (Pollack & Menconi, 2004, p. 11).” Flexibility: “The ability to alter the physical environment to meet our needs, or to regulate overexposure in the surroundings (Pollack & Menconi, 2004, p. 3).”

SOUTH EAST VIEW
SE PERSPECTIVE LOCATION: Baptist Hospital is in South Florida, Miami Beach. Alton Road is the main artery that leads to the site’s location. The well connectivity of those arteries and local roads provides an easy accessibility to the site through bus, car, and bicycles. Parking is provided by the structure itself.

Finally, we moved the staff offices and procedure room to the south wing of the building to allow access to natural light in these two spaces and moved the virtual rooms onto the other side of the circulation instead.

RENDERING - WAITING AREA
The Community Center was designed based on the philosophy that health extends beyond our physical bodies. It comprehends our mental and emotional self as well. We incorporated into the program a wellness education center for virtual learning and coaching with health professionals, a yoga & meditation room, an interior garden, and a refreshment area..

Create a design that serves as a vehicle to launch young professionals on their journey to find their best version of themselves by reconnecting with community, their destination and natural environment.
FIGURE No. 2
AEREAL VIEW SOUTH
The proposal explores Co living and Co working as typologies suitable for young professionals (18 to 35 years old) for being viable economic housing and working options that allowed them the freedom to live and work in highly desirable urban areas. In addition, offering the possibility of being part of a curated community of like-minded individuals that thrive together. The song speaks to new generations. “Here comes the Sun” it’s the most popular Beatles track among listeners between 15 and 28 years old. Here comes the sun is uplifting and optimistic and this feeling come through in both words and tunes. The recordings and feelings of hope are contagious and popular in emerging generations. Outside creates an environment where you can form authentic relationships, satisfy your sense of belonging, and fully integrate into a community of like-minded individuals.
They adhere to a shared value system, which promotes transparency, honest interactions, and a safe working environment.
Individuals can become more independent, act in ways they previously thought impossible, and define their own lifestyles thanks to the remote work revolution.

CONCEPT S TAT E M E N T
When thinking of Rosewood, one must accept both sides of the story. The prosperity and tragedy that followed are intertwined into one complex unit of fragmented memories that form the bigger picture. In order to internalized Rosewood’s history, one must submerge into the duality of good and evil surrounding these events and, most importantly to explore duality within ourselves. This museum would be a place for reflection, self-discovery, and questioning to find deeper truths, provoking action to address what needs to be transformed. In one sentence, this museum can be defined as a “transformative multi-sensory experience of self-discovery through duality exploration.”

EXHIBTION AREA
Thelibrary’s architecture is inspired by the wooden two-floor structure of the existing turpentine industry that existed at the time. The spatial formality honors these historic archetypes while incorporating a modern language that relates to the present. The primary purpose is to provide a place to educate about black history and share knowledge among visitors.

+ ANPHITHEATHER The amphitheater was inspired by the baseball diamond yard that existed in Rosewood. This place used to serve as a multi functional space for sports and as a gathering place for families to have picnics or to celebrate holidays as a community. The proposed amphitheater is intended to be used in the same way. It will host many activities throughout different hours and become a place for reflection while bringing people from all tracks of life to share their experiences.

+ HOUSE FRAMES This memorial would commemorate the Rosewood community, their property, and belongings. It seeks to honor all that has been lost by communicating a sense of place and scale to the tragedy. The installation would establish a contrast between the Wright’s house and the outer shape of the existing properties once there, conveying a duality of presence and absence.
