Grad Finale is an event hosted every year by the Miner Alumni Association. The association provides free food, drinks, and door prizes to graduating seniors. This year, the event was held on Thursday May 6th and Tuesday May 11th.

Many soon-to-be graduates gathered to eat, socialize with classmates, and reminisce about their college experiences.

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. Horner and Shifrin, Inc. is an engineering firm based out of St. Louis.

This semester, the company posed as a client for senior design teams consisting of Civil and/ or Architectural Engineering students. Each team was assigned the task of completing the entire architectural design of a municipal complex, consisting of a fire station and city hall.

One senior design team in particular consisted of Michelle Scheibel, Architectural Engineering; Colin Douthit, Civil and Architectural Engineering; Ryan Sadil, Civil Engineering; Jesse Baumann, Architectural Engineering; Travis Kayser, Civil and Architectural Engineering; Christopher Mathews, Civil Engineering; Aaron Huey, Civil Engineering; Kyle Kammer, Civil Engineering; Derek Bell, Civil Engineering; and Eric Shelton, Civil Engineering. Together they worked with Brian Heideman, a representative from Horner and Shifrin, Inc. Heidemean traveled to Rolla several times throughout the semester, to answer questions and attend the team's presentations.

Scheibel, who worked on th-e heating ventilations and air conditioning design for the project, stated that communicatio n was a major hurdle for the team. When asked about difficulties they encountered, she answered "With people working on the individual design tasks, it was difficult to make sure everyone was on the same page." To combat this issue, the team made it a point to inform their team leader of any changes and make sure to send updated drawings and documents to the rest of the group. Even though the team had some communicatio n issues, overall they felt their project was a success. Everyone worked hard on their individual tasks as well as the portion of the project that needed to be completed as a team.

The finished project received the second highest grade out of the six senior design teams -

involved. The project was challenging, but this team's hard work paid off!

Life After Graduation For many graduating seniors, life after graduation is a mystery. A select group receive full-time job offers or are accepted into graduate programs. Some graduates, however, continue their job searches after college, persist in applying to graduate schools, or go on to pursue other projects. Class of 2010 graduate Brittany Harrington, on the other hand, knows exactly what she will be doing after graduation.

Harrington, an Architectural Engineering major, graduated in May of 2010. She received a full-time offer from JE Dunn Construction, a company based out of Kansas City, in October

2009. The company works on a variety of projects from coastto-coast and provides construction management services to many different companies and organizations. Harrington spoke with representatives from JE Dunn Construction at the Career Fair the previous year and was offered a summer internship. This year, she received an offer via email to work with the company as a Field Engineer after graduation. When asked about the offer, she said "I guess they thought I did a good job, so they hired me back."

Harrington plans to start work with JE Dunn Construction on May 18th, only three days after graduation. She is excited for this new chapter in her life and feels well prepared to start her career.

While many graduates look into the next chapter of their lives with uncertainty, Harrington has a hopeful and excited outlook for her future. Good luck to her and all of the class of 2010 graduates; we wish you luck and success in anything you set out to do.

Edit or' s Nat e As this year's Editor-in-Chief, it was my mission to create a lasting memory for the students and faculty. I feel this is a mission accomplis hed.

Unfortuna tely you can never include every person and event on campus, and this year was no exception . We had some things left out because of miscomm unication . This is a constant battle, but hopefully next year will be better.

This year's staff did an amazing job, especially consideri ng our late start! This was my first and last year as E.I.C- being a senior I must pass the torch. I believe next year's book will be just as great, and our young staff members will be seasoned pros by then. I've enjoyed my years here at UMR/MS& T and have loved working on the RollaMO. I hope that you love going through it at least half as much as I enjoyed making it. The memories on these pages are nothing compared to the stories behind the pictures, all the experienc es, fun, and excitemen t. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but that just doesn't seem to be enough.

So as my last duty as E.I.C. I pose a mission to you, the reader.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to read and r eread this book cover to cover. Find your friends, your clubs and tell and retell the stories that go with the pictures. Then when you 've done that go out and make some more great memories !
