During 2020 we have been lucky enough to be in a position to continue to support and work alongside local sporting and community organisations who are achieving inspiring outcomes in our local area. We will continue this support during the holiday season with your help, through our Christmas Food and Toy appeal. Your donation can help those experiencing hardship and isolation as well as families struggling to keep food on the table this Christmas. Details on how you can help are available in this issue of the magazine. While we all grow increasingly optimistic as COVID-19 restrictions are gradually relaxed across NSW and the rest of Australia, it still remains a priority to ensure that we protect our members and staff from the spread of COVID-19. Nothing is more important than the safety of our community.
As 2020 draws to a close, on behalf of the team at Club Rivers I would like to say a warm thank-you to all of our members, partners and staff for your continuing support and inspiring work throughout this difficult year. I’m sure we are all eagerly anticipating the upcoming holiday season and the chance to celebrate and relax with family and friends.
Let’s all do what we can to come through this safely and stronger than ever as we look ahead to a bright new year in 2021. On behalf of the Board of Directors and Team at Club Rivers we look forward – with great enthusiasm – to welcoming you back to Club Rivers again next year and, I wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable festive season, a very Merry Christmas and a safe & prosperous New Year.
The COVID-19 pandemic has created many challenges around the world, as well as for us here at home and as we say goodbye to 2020, we reflect on a year that has certainly been trying and has presented us a year full of trials and continuing change. We are thankful our Club Rivers community has remained resilient and positive throughout this period.

IT’S OFFICIAL! CLUB RIVERS HAS AUSTRALIA’S KINDEST CAFÉ. October 26, 2020/in Home Article, Food and Beverage, Latest News, Drop Goss, Library, Directory, Community / October 1st was International Coffee Day. This year it was also the inaugural Youth Off The Streets Cup of Kindness Day where supporting cafes from across Australia were asked to celebrate good coffee and a good cause, and to donate 50c from every cup of coffee sold to the charity. Over 50 cafes participated in the fundraising initiative and raised closed to $20,000 on the day. Cup of Kindness Day was proudly supported by Hennessy Coffee and ClubsNSW, with clubs both large and small from Queensland, NSW and the ACT integral to the success of the event which Youth Off The Streets plan to run each year. The official launch was held at Coogee Beach Club, one of the Randwick Group of Clubs. Cafes who registered to participate were deemed “kind cafes”, and the café that helped to promote Cup of Kindness Day most creatively was awarded the Kindest Café Award. A joint win by Little Spoon and Steam – the two coffee shops operated by Club Rivers took out the honours. They provided branded cupcakes and cookies, dressed the cafes in promotional material and strongly supported the event in house and on social media through posters, images and videos. The winners received an award announcing them as Australia’s Kindest Café 2020, a promotional pack from Hennessey Coffee and the opportunity to host the launch of next year’s Cup of Kindness Day.
On Sunday 22 November 2020 St George District Cricket Club held its Annual Charity Walk to help raise awareness and much needed funds for the St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation. Now in its seventh year the event has provided more than $100 000 for the local charity. Club Rivers donated $2000 to support the foundation which has established itself as a world leader in medical research. Club Rivers & Sir Roden & Lady Cutler Foundation Announce Partnership 20
We are very pleased to announce that Club Rivers have joined with Sir Roden & Lady Cutler Foundation to sponsor the Patient Transport Service Program. The Patient Transport Service is a FREE SERVICE for people who require transport to, or from, a health facility such as a hospital or rehabilitation unit but do not need a time-critical emergency ambulance. The foundation currently has a nine (9) cars in its fleet, 2 of them with wheelchair access. This service will now be available to qualifying members of Club Rivers and the greater community from 1st November 2020. Sir Roden & Lady Cutler Foundation evolved from the Kings Cross Rotary Club 1990’s ‘Home and Away’ project, which provided emergency transport for the young, the elderly and the disabled needing to get to and from vital medical appointments.
There are many vulnerable members of our community, including children, elderly and disabled, who cannot get to and from medical appointments, including people in affluent areas. The ramifications of this are numerous, they can be shocking and they are often silent.
To make a booking Registered Clients Call 1300 747 763 & select Option 1. 10am – 3pm Monday, Wednesday & Friday. New Clients Please go to the Client Referral Page at sirroden.org.au/services/clientreferralform/ and complete the On-Line form so your application can be assessed for eligibility & registration purposes.
