Service Project Ideas A Friendly Reminder:

When first setting up a service project, you must consider what is the purpose of the project.

Reach out to your community and school for inspiration or ideas! There are a lot of organizations that need help and service project ideas that are offered online. Overall, be creative on how you can help out our communities, the possibilities are limitless!

1. Care Cards Make handmade Christmas cards for members of your community, teachers, Kiwanians, or donate to your local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. Write encouraging or inspiring messages inside each card and deliver as necessary. Remember to sign each card as “From the members of our local Key Club.”

2. Coats for Kids Keeping warm in the winter months is something most of us take for granted. The same luxury, though, is tragically out of reach for many children—some, probably, even in your community. Before the coldness sets in, collect new or old coats from the members of your community. You can also do donation drives like this for other items– cans, food, toys, books, & more!

With the weather getting colder and colder every day, this is a great service project to do and serves as a fun bonding event. 4. Salvation Army Bell Ringers This winter, sign up to help your local Salvation Army help the underprivileged members of your community. Contact a volunteer specialist at your local branch and pledge to spend a few hours out in the cold ringing the bells. After all, it could greatly change a life.

5. Light Up Your Community Offer to decorate any building in your community for the upcoming festive holiday. Go to your local nursing home, animal shelter, or even your school!

6. Serving Up Some Grub Spend an afternoon or evening stocking shelves at your local food pantry, or serving dinner to the less fortunate at a nearby soup kitchen or homeless shelter.

Fundraiser Ideas 1. Ice Skating Social

For this fundraiser you will need to contact your local ice skating rink and request to hold a fundraiser! Ask members and friends, family, and Kiwanians to come and join for a night of fun and a portion of the money will come back to you!

TIP: Do not forget to fill out a Event Request Form a month prior the day you want to hold the event.

2. Christmas Caroling Gather a group of Key Clubbers or friends willing to sing and go door to door—or set yourself up in a well-known area and sing for donations!

These donations can go to a retirement home, hospital, our preferred charities or anything you'd like.

TIP: Have fun with this and take the opportunity to dress up like Christmas Carolers!

3. Ugly Sweater Contest & Hot Chocolate Cram These fundraisers would be ones that you can set up in your school! For the ugly sweater contest, you can collect donations for the sweater you think is the ugliest and think should! As for Hot Chocolate and Cram, winter season means finals are coming up. Maybe try putting together a stress-relief baggie for the students stressing and set up this fundraiser as a gram! Charge a dollar per gram and have students sign up to send them to each other!
