Self-Control isn’t…

• Acting without thinking. • Saying whatever comes into your mind without thinking. • Being easily swayed away from goals, values, and priorities. • Doing want you want to do at the expense of others. • Acting selfishly by hurting others. • Caving into instant gratification.

Lack of self-control:

• Yelling out or talking in class without permission. • Giving in to the impulse to say something inappropriate or hurtful to another. • Allowing feelings to control your body’s actions. • Doing something you will regret later. • Purchasing something you can’t afford. • Avoiding studying for a test in a subject you dislike.
