Integrity? What is

Integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. It is about being honest, fair, kind, and standing up for what is right. People with integrity are respected and trusted by others.
This allows you to walk with your head held high, knowing you always stand up for what is right.

"Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is looking."
— C.S. Lewis
Real-Life Examples of Integrity
Admitting to your teacher that you made a mistake on an assignment.
Standing up when a group of classmates is teasing someone else.
Defending someone who is not being included in a group.
Offering to help a new student find their way.
Returning a lost wallet you find in the hallway.
Telling the truth about breaking a classroom rule.
Volunteering to clean up after a school event without being asked.
Refusing to cheat, even if your best friend asks you to.
Choosing to do what is right even when others don’t.
Words of Wisdom
Integrity means making the right choice, even when it feels hard.
It reminds us to be honest, kind, and strong, even in tough times.

"Stand
tall with your integrity, like a giraffe reaching for the sky." "Integrity is choosing what is right over what is easy."
— Brené Brown

Integrity Insights
Integrity in Action
Integrity helps you earn trust and respect. People with integrity make wise decisions, treat others with fairness, and are proud of their actions. Without integrity, people lose respect from others—and from themselves.
Living with integrity means feeling proud of who you are and living in peace, knowing you always do what is right.

“Integrity is what we do, what we say, and what we say we do.”

— Don Galer

Help others without expecting anything in return.
A person with integrity chooses honesty, kindness, and respect every time.

Amazing Animals with Integrity
The Giraffe Giraffes stand tall, watch over others, and never act out of selfishness. They move with grace and purpose, always calm and observant. Giraffes are gentle but strong, standing as symbols of integrity. They remind us to keep our heads high, to act with kindness, and to protect those who need help. Like a giraffe, people with integrity stand up for what is right and inspire others to do the same.

“Stand tall like a giraffe. Reach high with your integrity and never lower your values.”

Julia and Jade the Giraffe

A Hard Day at School
At recess, Julia sat in her wheelchair, watching others play basketball. Three boys, known for being mean, approached her.
“Hey, Julia,” one boy teased. “Want to race? Oh wait, you can’t!”

They laughed. Another boy spun her wheelchair around.
“Stop it!” Julia said firmly.
The third boy smirked. “What are you going to do? Roll over us?”
Julia did not feel embarrassed—she felt hurt. It hurts deeply when others bully you, especially when they choose to be mean instead of kind.

Integrity helps you stay strong when others are unkind.

Learning from Mom
At dinner, Julia was quiet. Her mom gently asked, “What happened today, sweetheart?”
Julia shared everything. Her mom held her hand tightly.

“Bullies act that way because they have no integrity,” her mom said seriously. “They hurt others to feel powerful, but their actions are cruel and wrong. Bullying causes deep pain that can stay with someone for a very long time. People who bully others are mean and can damage someone emotionally for years.”
She continued, “Without integrity, people lose respect from others and from themselves. But when you live with integrity, you stand tall, you do what is right, and you feel proud. If you see bullying, do not ignore it. Stand up for what is right, or tell a teacher or adult. Bullying is serious and harmful, and standing against it is part of living with integrity and making our world better.”
"Integrity is doing always what is right, and it makes you proud of yourself at all times. You can walk with your head up high, knowing that you will always stand up for what is right."

A Dream with Jade the Giraffe
That night, Julia dreamed of a bright meadow where Jade, a tall giraffe with kind eyes, greeted her.
“I had a tough day,” Julia confessed.
Jade nodded and said gently, “I am sorry to hear that. I stand tall and protect others. I never hurt, and I always choose what is right.
That is integrity. When people do not have integrity, they lose respect from others, and worse, they do not respect themselves. But when you live with integrity, you can hold your head high, knowing you are honest, kind, and fair.”

Jade showed Julia scenes of children helping others, sharing, and standing up to bullies.
“Integrity makes life better,” Jade continued. “Every time you choose honesty, kindness, and fairness, you become someone you can be proud of.”
Julia smiled. “I want to carry myself like you do.”
“You already can,” Jade said. “Every choice you make shapes who you are. Stand up for what is right always.”

Facing the Bullies Again
The next day, Julia saw the boys teasing a younger student. She rolled up to them and said, “That is not right. Maybe you should learn about integrity.”

One boy frowned. “What is integrity?”
Julia answered confidently, “It is choosing to do the right thing, even when it is hard. It is about respect, honesty, and kindness. People with integrity stand up for others.”
The boys exchanged uncertain looks and quietly walked away.
The younger student smiled shyly. “Thank you.”
Julia replied warmly, “You are welcome. I will always stand up for what is right.”
Standing for what is right shows courage and strength.

Sharing with Mom and Feeling Proud
That evening, Julia told her mom what happened.
“I stood up for someone today,” she said.
Her mom asked gently, “What did you say?”
“I told the boys they should learn about integrity. I explained what it meant,” Julia said, beaming. Her mom hugged her tightly. “I am so proud of you. You are becoming someone others will look up to. But remember, integrity is not just something you show at school. It is something you carry with you throughout your whole life. It shows in how you treat your friends, how you do your schoolwork, how you act when no one is watching, and how you face challenges at work when you grow up. Integrity shapes every part of who you are — in your relationships, in your studies, in your job, and in every decision you make.”

Julia listened carefully. “So it is about standing up for what is right everywhere?”
Her mom smiled. “Exactly. A person with integrity is someone others trust and admire. You will be that person by always doing what is right, and by walking through life with your head held high, knowing you make choices you can be proud of.”
That night, Julia dreamed of Jade again.
“You stood taller than ever,” Jade said warmly.
“I did,” Julia answered. “And I will keep doing it.”
Integrity gives us the strength to stand tall, inspire others, and live with pride and peace.
