What is

Integrity?  Integrity means doing what is right even when no one is watching.

 It is being honest, keeping your

promises, and making fair choices.

 When you have integrity, people trust you.

You help make your school and home a better place.

Examples of Integrity Telling the truth when you make a mistake.

Taking care of books, toys, and classroom supplies, then returning them nicely.

Including someone who is sitting alone or feeling left out.

Letting your teacher or parents know if you accidentally break something.

Playing by the rules during a game, even when you really want to win.

Doing your own homework and trying your best.

Speaking up if you see someone being treated unfairly.

How Do You Show Integrity?

Tell the truth, even when it is hard.

Keep your promises.

Take responsibility for your actions.

Stand up for what is right, even if it is not easy.

Treat others with kindness and fairness.

Do not spread rumors or gossip.

Show others by your actions what is right.

Admirable Animals The integrity of the giraffe

Look at giraffes. They stand tall and are gentle.

They care for their young. They are brave and

protect each other. Giraffes show us that being strong and kind is part of having integrity.

Julia's Journey

A Difficult Day at School Julia was a happy girl who used a wheelchair. One day at school, some children said unkind things to her.

At dinner, Julia was very quiet. Her mother noticed that she looked sad.

Later, Julia said, “Some kids were mean to me today.”

Her mother gave her a hug and said, “Sometimes

people make hurtful choices. People with integrity choose to be kind, honest, and fair to others.”

Julia listened carefully. She knew she wanted to be a person with integrity too.

“People show integrity when they choose kindness, honesty, and respect.”

Learning About Integrity from Her Mother Julia’s mother hugged her and said,

“Integrity means doing the right thing, even when it

is hard. Be honest, kind, and fair. If someone is rude to you, tell a teacher. You are never alone. I am proud of you.”

Julia felt a little better and went to sleep, wishing she had the strength to stand up for herself.

A Magical Dream with Jade the Giraffe That night, Julia dreamed that a tall giraffe named Jade came up to her window and smiled at her.

“Hi, Julia! I’m Jade,” said the giraffe.

Julia asked, “Is this a dream?”

Jade nodded and said, “Yes, but it feels real. I’m here to talk to you about integrity because I know you had a difficult day.”

Julia told Jade about the teasing at school.

Jade said, “People who are mean do not have

integrity. I want to show you how strong integrity is.”

Then Jade said, “Having integrity means standing tall like a giraffe, no matter what others say.”

A Ride Through the City Jade lifted Julia onto her back, and they soared above

New York City. They saw many kind people. A girl returned a lost dog. A boy stood up for a friend. Kids worked together to clean up a park.

“Doing what is right helps make the world a little brighter,” said Jade.

Julia smiled, feeling happy to see people with integrity.

“Integrity means having the courage to be honest, fair, and kind, no matter what.”

A Lesson in Integrity “Integrity means always being honest, kind, and fair,” Jade said. “People with integrity

never hurt others or lie. Bullies do not have integrity.”

Julia thought about her day at school. She felt brave and happy knowing she could be kind and tell the truth. That night, she promised herself she would always have integrity.

“Integrity is about lifting yourself and others up, no matter the challenges you face.”

A Challenge to Be Brave Jade said, "Every day, we make little choices.

Choose to be brave and tell the truth. Tomorrow, find one small way to be kind and strong."

Julia nodded and felt strong. She knew that even a small act of kindness makes a big difference.

She promised herself to be brave and honest every day.

Julia's New Beginning The next morning, Julia saw a classmate being

teased. She remembered Jade’s words and said,

“That is not okay. You deserve respect.” The bullies stopped. Later, Julia knocked over paint with her

wheelchair. She told the art teacher, “I did it.” The teacher said, “Thank you for being honest.” Julia

smiled. She showed integrity. That night, she told her mom about her brave day and felt proud of her choices.

“I may be in a wheelchair, but my integrity lets me stand tall.”

Continuing the Journey of Integrity Julia knew integrity was not

something you do just once. It is about who you are every day. She tried hard to be kind, honest, and brave. Every time she did, she felt stronger.

Julia knew her journey was just

starting. Integrity was her special

power. She did not have to be perfect.

She just needed to try her best to

do what was right. With each good

choice, Julia felt tall and strong, just like a giraffe.
