TAITTINGER, COMTES DE CHAMPAGNE ROSÉ 2012

A ‘STRONG BUY’ INVESTMENT OPTION

I am delighted to offer the latest release of the sought after rosé production of Taittinger’s top cuvée, Comtes de Champagne 2012, their highest scored rosé ever. This is a STRONG BUY recommendation.

3x75cl - £395 in bond

The global demand for vintage rosé champagne set against generally tiny quantities of back vintages makes this subset of the vintage champagne market perhaps one of the most appealing and built for medium to long term gain.

Comtes Rosé is made from 30% Chardonnay Grands Crus from the prestigious Côte des Blancs region and 70% Pinot Noir from the Grands Crus from the Montagne de Reims region. The Comtes de Champagne Rosé owes the secret of its uniqueness to the 15% of still red wine which is added to the blend. It is the Champagne House’s most rare cuvée.

The 2012 is the highest ever scored rosé from Taittinger, and one of the higest scoring champagnes of all time. Priced at £395 per 3 bottles, it displays ‘fair value’ according to LivEx, falling beneath the regression line, and is substantially cheaper than much poorer scoring vintages. Taittinger should be applauded for recognising a placid market and pricing accordingly, for such a high-scoring vintage.

Writing for Vinous, Antonio Galloni awarded 98 points: “The 2012 Comtes de Champagne Rosé is magnificent. Rich and explosive in the glass, the 2012 Comtes Rosé dazzles from start to finish. I like it even more today than I liked it last year! A rush of red cherry fruit, kirsch, blood orange, cinnamon and rose petal soars out of the glass. Vertical structure and tons of energy are the signatures. I would be thrilled to own this”.
