6x75cl - £640 3x150cl - £780 1x300cl - £650 1x600cl - £1,880 The official release price of £640 per six bottles in bond pleasingly falls well below the Liv-Ex fair value line (see graph bottom left) and is available cheaper than the superb 2004 and 2002 vintages which received the same 97-point score from Galloni. According to Liv-Ex, Comtes de Champagne is currently the fifth highest traded champagne by value. Comtes has decades worth of data to show that it closely tracks the key, Champagne 50 sub-index, and in the highest scoring vintages it wildly outperforms it’s peer group. Made only in the very best vintages, Comtes de Champagne is 100% chardonnay and is aged for ten years prior to release. The 2015 vintage release of Comtes has been met with critical acclaim, with its 97 points beating the 96 points awarded to the same vintage of Dom Perignon & Cristal, and matching the score of investment behemoth, Salon. The portents are extremely promising with this release, especially considering the 96-point-rated 2012 Comtes was released at £745 per six. Writing for Vinous, Antonio Galloni awarded 97 points: “The 2015 Comtes de Champagne is delicate, airy and wonderfully expressive. Lemon peel, white flowers, chalk, mint and slate are finely sculpted in the glass. Light on its feet and crystalline, the 2015 is terrific. There’s a touch of savoriness that is typical of the year, but it is not dominant or overpowering. Comtes is a real success in a year that was quite challenging ”.
