“Clifton High School has always been grateful to those families who have supported us through philanthropy and charitable giving. Their generosity has played a significant role in shaping our School, enabling us to grow our facilities and assist pupils with life-changing bursaries.

As we approach our 150 Anniversary in 2027, it is with your help that we can continue to provide an outstanding learning experience for our pupils today, and for generations to come. ”

AN EDUCATION FOR LIFE

PHILANTHROPY AT CLIFTON HIGH SCHOOL

From the School’s inception in 1877 through to the present day, we have been deeply appreciative to those individuals and families who have assisted us through philanthropy and charitable giving.

It is parents, friends and our alumni body, the Clifton Rosarians (CR), who have consistently shown their support to Clifton High School. Over the decades, their philanthropic undertakings have shaped our physical environment, enabling us to establish transformative bursaries and scholarships, changing the lives of so many pupils.

It was in 2017, to mark the 140 anniversary of Clifton High School, that the Development Team was established to oversee all philanthropic and charitable fundraising for the School.

Engaging our community, past and present, the Clifton High School Foundation aims to build strong connections to provide a bridge between parents, friends, our alumni, the CRs, and the School.

We remain deeply thankful for the foresight of the Foundation’s advocates, whose contributions have made a considerable impact on many pupils’ lives, often resulting in life-changing opportunities. Without this funding, the projects cannot result in the transformative outcomes and reach the pupils most in need today and for generations to come.

“Technology and digital capability embedded into the heart of our School is critical and enables our staff and pupils to be capable leaders now and in the future. This is the reason why I feel so passionate about supporting the School's drive to provide new technology and digital learning systems across the Infant and Junior School.”

REGULAR GIVING - THE PERCIVAL GIFT SCHEME

When Clifton High School opened its doors in 1877, the first pupil on the register was Elizabeth (Bessie) Percival. The School instilled in Bessie a passion for art; she became an accomplished artist in oils and watercolours, exhibiting many of her works at the Royal Academy of Arts, London. Bessie describes her time at School as a 'dream of delight'. Her legacy continues in our Percival Gift Scheme which endorses strategic projects across the whole School and enables us to provide bursaries in the Senior School and Sixth Form.

Collective giving through the Percival Gift Scheme assures our community, parents, friends and the CRs of the benefit their donations have made, and continue to make. Donors may give monthly, quarterly or annually and through the Government's Gift Aid scheme, donations can be worth so much more, at no extra cost to the individual. A huge thank you to all those parents who registered with the scheme through the Spring Term bill and to our contributors within our wider School community who donate to the School through this scheme.

CLIFTON HIGH SCHOOL CONNECTS

From volunteering at events, to supporting our Sixth Form students through careers and peer mentoring, our CRs demonstrate that a Clifton High School journey does not end when a pupil leaves School. For many, it is the start of a very special relationship.

If you would like to support the next generation of pupils by returning to School to talk about higher education and careers, please email Mrs Kate McKee (née Hepburn CR ‘96), Development Officer, kmkee@cliftonhigh.co.uk.

THE GIFT OF A LEGACY - THE 1877 CLUB

Legacies, no matter the size, are hugely valuable to Clifton High School, and for those who have the consideration to remember us in their will, we have immense gratitude. Remembering the School in your will, enables you and your family to acknowledge the influences that have shaped your life, and secure the future ambitions of our School and our pupils.

We recognise that any gift is deeply personal and individuals may wish to specify how their financial legacy will be used. If you are contemplating leaving a gift to the School in your will, regardless of whether you consider it to be large or small, we wholly appreciate the confidentiality surrounding your intentions. In order to understand personal plans and to ensure we are able to show our gratitude, we would be happy to meet and discuss the impact your gift would make.

To recognise and acknowledge generosity, those who notify us of their wish to leave a gift to the School will automatically become a member of the 1877 Club, named after our School's founding year. As a member of the 1877 Club you will receive invitations to special occasions including our Annual 1877 Club Event as well as specific communications to stay updated on the enormous impact legacy-giving has at Clifton High School.
