CHORUS AUDITIONS
We’re delighted to present our festive production of Dick Whittington at the Redgrave Theatre, running from 4th December 2026 to 3rd January 2027.
WHO CAN AUDITION?
We are looking for a chorus of young people who are strong singers, confident dancers, expressive actors, and full of energy and personality.
Applicants must be aged 8–14 years old on or before 1 September 2026.
AUDITION PROCESS OVERVIEW
During the performance run, the production will feature professional principal actors supported by three alternating casts of children’s chorus (ages 8–14). These casts will rotate across performances between 4 December 2026 and 3 January 2027, including several school performances.
This is an exciting opportunity for young performers to appear in front of thousands of audience members, an unforgettable experience they will treasure for years to come.
This year, we are seeking a chorus of young people with strong singing, acting, and dancing skills, as well as bags of character and personality.
AUDITION DATE & LOCATION
Auditions will take place on: Sunday 28th June 2026
9:30am – 2:30pm Redgrave Theatre, Bristol, BS8 3LE
When completing the audition form, you will be asked to choose one of four available time slots. Each slot is limited to 25 children and will close automatically once full. We therefore encourage early applications, as we cannot accept additional bookings once all sessions reach capacity.
If your preferred audition slot is already full at the time of booking, you will be able to choose from the remaining available slots.
All applicants should arrive 15 minutes before their allocated workshop start time to register and sign in.

Parents will be asked to sign their child in during registration and may wait in the theatre foyer, or return to collect them at the end of the audition. Parents are not permitted in the auditorium during auditions. The cafe bar will be open for the purchase of hot and cold drinks, or you may leave and return at the end of the workshop.
HOW THE AUDITION DAY WORKS
Once all young performers are signed in, they will enter the auditorium where they’ll meet the creative team and be given an overview of how the workshop will run.
No preparation is required in advance. On the day, performers will be taught a verse and chorus of a song with a short dance routine. We want to reassure everyone that we are not only looking for the best singers, dancers, and actorswe value potential and enthusiasm just as much as ability, and we will work with individuals throughout the process.
Following the audition day, parents and guardians will receive an email letting them know if their young person has been invited to join the children’s chorus by Tuesday 7th July 2026.
WHAT TO WEAR AT AUDITION
Applicants must wear sensible clothing and footwear (no heels) for auditions. Soft-soled shoes are essential, as children will not be permitted to audition barefoot or in socks.
All applicants will take part in a physical warm-up, so please arrive in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows ease of movement. Please do not wear jewellery or any items that could restrict movement or pose a safety risk to yourself or others during the audition. Please also ensure you have brought along a named water bottle.
Please note: The Redgrave Theatre cannot take responsibility for personal belongings that may be lost at auditions.

The form will also require you to attach one headshot. This does not need to be professionally taken but please take the picture on a plain white backdrop on a good quality digital camera or smart phone.

Full commitment is expected throughout the rehearsal and production period. The exact breakdown of the rehearsal schedule will be made available to the cast members before the project begins. All rehearsals are compulsory.
The performances will take place at the Redgrave Theatre, Bristol. The production times may vary and are subject to change, but there is a provisional schedule above.

NOTE TO PARENTS / GUARDIANS
The Redgrave Theatre relies on good communication with parents/guardians to ensure that the production runs smoothly, therefore please ensure that all the forms and contact details are filled out correctly. We will endeavour to email any information to you, to keep you informed of rehearsal times and schedules. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need to discuss further any information regarding your child and their involvement with the Redgrave Theatre. There will be an opportunity to work alongside our team to chaperone performances.
COSTUMES
Although the Redgrave Theatre will provide costumes, participants will be asked to provide one pair of dance shoes (we will stipulate type and colour).
