Solar Module Production Line: Complete Guide for Beginners In today's era, due to increasing energy demand and need for environmental protection, the use of solar energy is increasing rapidly. Solar modules, commonly called solar panels, are the mainstay of this energy production. The systematic and technical process that is used to make these panels is called a solar module production line. It is an automated and high-tech system, which ensures manufacturing of high quality solar panels. What is Solar Module Production Line? Solar module production line is an industrial setup where various raw materials such as solar cells, tempered glass, EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) sheets, backsheets and aluminum frames are mixed to form finished solar modules. This process is completely controlled with the help of machines and trained staff, thereby maintaining accuracy and quality in production. Major stages of production line 1. Cell Sorting: In this stage solar cells are classified on the basis of their efficiency and power output. This ensures that cells of the same capacity are used in the same module, improving panel performance. 2. Tabbing & Stringing: In this process, solar cells are connected together with the help of conductive ribbon. In tabbing, links are created between cells and in stringing, they are combined into a series. 3. Lay-Up: In this step all the layers are kept in one order. First the tempered glass is applied, then the EVA sheet, followed by the string of solar cells, then another EVA sheet and finally the backsheet. This structure provides strength and protection to the module. 4. Lamination: With the help of lamination machine, all the layers are joined under high temperature and pressure. This process makes the module waterproof, durable and long lasting. 5. Trimming & Framing: After lamination the excess material is cut (Trimming). An aluminum frame is then installed, which provides structural strength to the module and eases installation.
