welcome Welcome to Valley Invicta Primary School at Kings Hill.

During the summer of 2013 Kent County Council secured from the Department for Education funding to build new primary schools. Kings Hill Primary School is part of this project. Although Kent is responsible for designing, building and opening the schools on time for 1st September 2015, the schools management and leadership will be the responsibility of the Valley Invicta Academies Trust, a family of seven primary and secondary schools which work in partnership to provide nothing less than Outstanding education for all our young people.

We are delighted that you are considering entrusting your child to us and recognise the immense honour that this trust entails. This prospectus is designed to give you a flavour of our philosophy and strategy however nothing can equal a visit to the school and we look forward to welcoming you to our programme of Open Mornings. mission An outstanding primary school is essential if your child is to get the best start to their education. Our mission is to provide that outstanding primary experience at Kings Hill Primary School.

Outstanding

care

Care for your child is the most important thing we do. This care is the foundation of the outstanding education which you want and every child deserves.

In school the responsibility for the care of your child is shared between your child’s class teacher, the Headteacher and the Individual Needs Co-ordinator. These professionals form the Progress Review Team, and they meet weekly to review the progress of all pupils.

They will consider your child’s: • Attendance: Care focused on the relationship between high attendance and high educational achievement.

• Social Adjustment: Care to develop a happy child, well motivated to learn.

• Behaviour: Care to foster excellent behaviour as the key to taking full advantage of education.

• Academic Progress: Care to ensure success in Secondary School is built on success in Primary School.

• Individual Educational Needs: Care based on a belief that all children have individual needs which we identify and respond to.

• Individual Health Needs: Care for children with specific health needs.

If we have any concerns about your child’s progress we will involve you fully. You are the fourth member of your child’s Progress Review Team.

Outstanding

Education Building on Outstanding Care, Kings Hill Primary School will provide an Outstanding educational experience for your child, focused on: • Reading and Writing: Children will be helped to read and write fluently, with true passion and enjoyment.

• Mathematics and Science: Children will be motivated to excel at Mathematics and Science, with some teaching and support delivered by specialist teachers.

• The Whole Curriculum: Children will explore the whole breadth of the National Curriculum. In addition to the Humanities and the Arts your child will be introduced to French, Mandarin and Latin.

• The Whole Child: Children will take full advantage of our Outstanding Opportunities programme (pages 8 & 9) to identify, develop and explore their personal interests and aptitudes.

• Preparation for the next stage: Children will be fully prepared for the next stage in their education; either moving from Early Years to Key Stage 1, from Infants to Juniors, or on to Secondary School.

• Excitement, Enjoyment and Curiosity: Children will learn within an exciting, challenging educational framework focused on a love for learning and fostering their innate curiosity. We aim to engender a sense of wonder about the world.

In Year 6 your child will use the specialist facilities at Invicta Grammar School and Valley Park School and be taught by their specialist teachers. This will ensure the most able and gifted children are intellectually stretched and challenged but that no child is left behind.

Opportunities An Outstanding primary school has to do so much more than provide outstanding care and education. We believe in the development of The Whole Child through: • The Arts: Opportunities to learn a musical instrument, to visit galleries, museums, the theatre and concert halls.

• Sport: Opportunities to develop individual skills alongside a love of competitive sport and games.

How to

Apply

In September 2015 Valley Invicta Primary School at Kings Hill will have 30 places in Reception, 15 places in Year 1, 15 places in Year 2, 15 places in Year 3, and 15 places in Year 4.

We have arranged a series of Open Mornings for you to hear about the school and to ask questions.

There are two sessions on each of the seven days. The first at 9.00am, the second at 11.00am.

Because we are a new school, and our building is not yet finished, the Open Mornings will be held at Aylesford Primary School. Aylesford is part of the Valley Invicta Academies Trust family and shares the same commitment to Outstanding Care, Education and Opportunities.
