The Exceptional Choice There are many schools. There is only one place where your child becomes truly exceptional. Welcome to Orion Ravensbourne – a school where ambition is limitless, expectations are uncompromising, and every young person is empowered to achieve extraordinary things.
Mr P Patel Head of School
Mr M Ridley Executive Principal
Our vision is clear and unwavering: to improve outcomes, transform lives and enable social mobility. Everything we do is driven by this purpose. We believe that every child, regardless of their starting point, deserves an exceptional education that opens doors, raises aspirations and prepares them to flourish in an ever-changing world. From Year 7 to Sixth Form, your child’s seven-year journey will be shaped by three values we live every day: Trust, so every student feels able to take risks and grow. Kindness, so every student feels safe enough to be themselves. Endeavour, so every student learns that real effort unlocks real potential. We foster resilience, character and a genuine love of learning, ensuring every student leaves us equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed.
Our teachers are exceptional: highly qualified, ambitious for every student, and committed to understanding each young person as an individual. We set ambitious expectations and provide every student with the support to achieve them. Our alumni go on to Russell Group universities, competitive apprenticeships and careers they have chosen for themselves, demonstrating the lasting impact of an Orion Ravensbourne education. Working in partnership with parents and carers, supported by the expertise and collaboration of the Orion Education Trust, we don’t just prepare your child for their next step, we prepare them to be exceptional wherever they go next. We are incredibly proud of Orion Ravensbourne and invite you to discover a school where excellence is expected, potential is realised and futures are transformed.

Excellence Through Endeavour A broad, ambitious curriculum on an inspiring campus, preparing every student for success and self-belief. At Orion Ravensbourne, we prepare students to become successful learners, responsible citizens and confident individuals. Our broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum meets the needs of every young person, with a clear focus on literacy, numeracy, oracy, digital innovation and problem-solving alongside personal, emotional, mental and social development. Curriculum subjects include Maths, English Literature and Language, Double and Triple Sciences, the English Baccalaureate, and up to 15 further open subjects including Creative and Performing Arts. From Year 7, every student is known as an individual, and our expert teachers tailor support and challenge so each young person can thrive, whatever their starting point.
Innovative teaching takes place on our historic, extensive and contemporary campus. Our buildings, some Grade II listed and dating back to 1911, combine heritage with modern facilities: ten computer labs, a fully equipped television studio, a full-size football pitch, rugby pitch, sports hall, state-of-the-art gym and science labs, 3G astroturf and multi-use games area, a fully equipped dance studio, and beautifully refurbished Edwardian classrooms with a contemporary twist. We are proud to be part of the Bromley Football Club Academy, a community -centred youth football programme.
“I like that our school celebrates effort as much as achievement. Excellence Through Endeavour has taught me to challenge myself, learn from mistakes and keep striving to do my best.” Year 9 Student

“The teachers at Orion Ravensbourne have the students’ best interests at heart. They are so supportive, not only with our academic learning, but with our wellbeing too.” Year 8 Student
Support and Belonging A caring, connected community where every student is known, valued, supported and encouraged to grow. Every student has the right to learn in a supportive, challenging environment where they feel valued, safe and secure. Kindness sits at the heart of our pastoral care: we are a dynamic, diverse community built on high-quality relationships between students and staff. Our pastoral team of Year Leaders, Tutors and Deputy Headteachers work closely with subject teachers so every child can flourish academically while knowing there is always someone to turn to. Your child will see their Form Tutor at the start and end of each day, alongside PSHE lessons, wellbeing sessions and regular conversations about progress, attendance and punctuality.
Transition points, between key stages and years, can be challenging. So our Form Tutors, Deputy Year Leaders and Year Leaders work with skill and commitment to ensure smooth, confident transitions throughout the seven-year journey, from our induction programme for Year 6 students through to progression into Sixth Form. Partnership with parents and carers is fundamental. We provide regular consultations to discuss progress, termly parent forums, and clear home-school communication, so that together we can support every young person to succeed.

Unlocking Talents and Passions Endeavour in action: a vast enrichment programme helping every student discover new talents and ambitions. We believe the strength of our enrichment programme is central to the student experience, and our young people are encouraged to explore as many opportunities as possible to discover their talents and potential.
“The enrichment programme has given opportunities to challenge myself, develop new skills and take on leadership responsibilities. Through student leadership and Duke of Edinburgh, I have grown in confidence, become more independent and learned how to make a positive contribution to my school community.”
Highlights include sporting and outdoor pursuit activities, art clubs with visiting professional artists, drama clubs and termly performances in our Great Hall, dance teams, musical tuition, choirs and bands, a public speaking programme, field trips across Geography and History, with expeditions to China, France, Spain, Tanzania, Switzerland, Iceland, Italy and Germany. Students also gain valuable work experience and hear from visiting speakers across a wide range of career fields.
Our innovative Student Leadership Programme is central to improving school and student learning experiences. Through our Student Leadership Body, young people develop life-enhancing skills, confidence and motivation, learning to become advocates for their own needs and those of others. Students also take part in national competitions including the Debating and the Speak Out Challenge, alongside the Duke of Edinburgh Award for Years 9, 10 and 12. Student leadership is a direct investment in developing tomorrow’s leaders and successful global citizens of the future.
Through the Orion Ravensbourne Charter, students achieve a variety of life skills and experiences.
