“Davison School provides an exceptional education for its pupils.” Ofsted
Welcome to Davison Choosing the right secondary school is one of the most important decisions a family will make, and I am delighted you are considering Davison for your daughter. As the only state-funded girls’ school in West Sussex, we offer something different. Warmth, kindness and belonging are at the heart of our community, where every girl is known and valued.
I am incredibly proud of our school, it is a place where girls truly flourish.
I believe there is something incredibly powerful about an environment designed for girls. Here, girls are encouraged to be ambitious, embrace opportunities, step into leadership and discover strengths they may not yet recognise in themselves. Our history stretches back more than 200 years, but our focus is firmly on the future. The values and traditions that have shaped Davison for generations, form the foundation for a modern education where girls can thrive. For me, what makes Davison so special is seeing the girls grow during their time with us. They leave with excellent academic outcomes and as compassionate, resilient young women, ready to make their mark on the world. I look forward to welcoming you to our community. A warm, inclusive community where girls can thrive.
A Place to Belong At Davison, belonging means feeling comfortable, accepted and able to be yourself. It is a warm, welcoming community where students from different backgrounds, faiths and cultures come together, support one another and form lasting friendships. Every new student is welcomed through our Big Sister programme, pairing her with an older student who offers friendship, encouragement and practical support as she settles into life at Davison. And our colour family system creates a supportive network where everyone has people around them who know, encourage and care for them. Whether sharing everyday experiences, celebrating achievements or supporting each other through challenges, students know they are part of something bigger. At Davison we celebrate diversity, with annual events such as the Christmas Church Service, the Big Iftar and the Pride Picnic bringing students, families, staff and local faith leaders together. Above all, Davison is a place where girls can feel confident being themselves, knowing they are valued and truly belong.

An environment where every girl can participate, lead and grow.

We believe an all-girl environment can remove barriers, raise participation and create space for girls to lead, contribute and grow in confidence. Our approach is rooted in our long heritage and our understanding of what helps girls thrive. We want every student to discover her strengths, explore her passions and feel confident pursuing opportunities, whatever her ambitions. In an all-girls environment, every subject, activity and opportunity is open to every student. Girls are encouraged to challenge themselves, speak up, think independently and take on roles where they can make a difference. This can be seen across school life, from STEM and sport to the arts and student leadership. Girls have the freedom to try new things, develop their talents and learn from one another, while strong female role models help them imagine future possibilities. Leadership roles including prefects and Youth Panel enable our girls to inspire others, work with adults and students, build trust and ensure that student voice is powerfully heard in school and beyond. At Davison, we want every girl to know that she has a voice, that her contribution matters and that there is nothing she cannot aspire to.
“Pupils feel more confident to participate, take risks and develop their leadership skills in an all-girls environment.” Clare Cox, Head of PE

The Right Challenge At Davison, we believe every girl should be challenged to achieve her full potential. Our passionate, highly qualified and experienced staff deliver first-rate learning experiences that engage, inspire and foster a lifelong love of learning. Our Head of Citizenship was named ACT (Association for Citizenship Teaching) Teacher of the Year 2026, reflecting the exceptional quality of teaching and learning across our school. Our curriculum is designed to prepare girls for success in a rapidly changing world. We offer a wide range of pathways to suit different interests, strengths and aspirations. Students can challenge themselves with additional GCSE qualifications in Astronomy, Statistics and Further Maths, or develop career-related knowledge and skills through vocational courses in Sport, Travel & Tourism, Health & Social Care and Child Development. Where girls grow, explore, lead and support. At Davison, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Every term, girls can choose from more than 40 free after-school clubs, alongside trips, performances and experiences in the UK and abroad – from Iceland to the Italian Alps. Girls are encouraged to discover what they enjoy, develop their talents and challenge themselves. Whether competing in sport, performing, making art, learning a new skill or exploring a future career, there are opportunities for every ambition. Our girls achieve highly across activities, representing their county and region in football, cricket, netball, rowing, athletics, dance, gymnastics, climbing and diving. The arts are also a strong feature of school life, with exhibitions, concerts and productions giving girls opportunities to create, perform and collaborate. Community action is an important part of the Davison experience. Through our Youth Panel, charity partnerships, volunteering and fundraising, girls engage with real-world issues and support others. In recent years, our girls have helped create ‘Safe Havens’ in Worthing and campaigned for better local road safety. They develop empathy, responsibility and pride in making a lasting difference. Every experience is an opportunity to discover something new – about the world, others and themselves.
“The wide range of activities, particularly sports, was impressive and this was a standout reason for our daughter wanting to join you.” Year 7 parent

Our former students are making their mark across an extraordinary range of careers, including medicine, law, emergency services, accountancy, business, entrepreneurship, professional sport, teaching, film and media. Our alumnae include: Melica Moshiri (Class of 2008) who now runs an AI and emerging technology company and appeared on The Apprentice.
