Volunteer Position Description

Academic Success Volunteer Role: Academic Success Volunteer Reports To: Club Director & Volunteer Engagement Manager Program Dates & Times: September - May, Monday - Thursday, 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. Commitment: Minimum of 1 hour per week, scheduled at the same day and time each week to ensure consistency. Purpose of this role: Offer in-person academic support throughout the school year, including tutoring, STEM activities, reading assistance, and other enrichment opportunities. Grades Served: K-12th Duties & Responsibilities: Support members by reading with them, practicing sight words, and facilitating fun, literacy-focused educational games Assist with homework as needed Help lead and support STEM projects Guide teens as they work on college essays Help maintain a productive, focused, and positive environment Complete Volunteer Onboarding process Notify Club Director when unable to attend during scheduled hours Ideal Volunteer: 18 years or older, or if under 18, accompanied by a parent or guardian Dependable and committed to a weekly volunteer schedule Previous tutoring or academic support experience A genuine enthusiasm for supporting and engaging with youth Comfortable working in busy or noisy environments Respectful, open-minded, and sensitive to cultural differences Patient, with the ability to communicate and explain concepts clearly
