T Bar S Cattle Co. | 2024 Focused on the Future | Bull Sale
WELCOME ALL
Welcome to the 2024 Focused on the Future Bull Sale! Thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to browse the catalog, come look through the bulls, or express interest in any way. We are proud and excited to showcase and offer this set of bulls. Without question, this is our favorite set of bulls to offer up for your consideration. It’s an exciting time in the beef business, and we don’t see the demand for quality protein declining any time soon. We are confident this set of bulls appeals to all sectors of the beef business with more diversity than we have ever offered before.
Now, for the bulls — This is our largest offering of ET bulls yet with our newest and most up-to-date pedigrees. They range from Purebred Gelbvieh to Red and Black Angus both. We were more stringent on culling this set, so all bulls have passed through two rounds of quality sorting, one round of disposition and a final round on semen check day. Round Prairie Feeders has yet again outdone themselves on development. Low-starch, high-forage diets have put these bulls in prime condition to turn out and go to work.
To add, this set will be genomically enhanced and tested for horned/ polled and color status. This is our largest offering of homo-polled bulls ever, and we are proud to share them with you. As usual, this set will come with our standard one-year breeding guarantee and free delivery within the first 500 miles. They are up to date on all vaccines, worming treatment and pour-ons, and they come with a BSE and BVD test. They are ready to turn out on fall cows. We are proud to offer a product we stand behind 100%.
In conclusion, we recognize that we are in the “people business,” and we utilize beef cattle to build and hold relationships. When you buy a bull from T Bar S, your experience with the Vehige family is just beginning and we look forward to updates on the bulls as well as calf reports. We want to be involved with what you do, and we pride ourselves on trying to uphold the highest level of customer service. We share your passion for cattle and look forward to spending time visiting with you about your operation. So, with that said, we thank you for your time and interest in our cattle, our program and most of all – our family.
DON’T JUST BUY A BULL. BUY A PROGRAM.

GENETIC SELECTION TOOLS
GENOMIC ENHANCED EPDs —
Purchasing bulls with genomic-enhanced expected progeny differences (GE-EPDs) allows commercial producers to make selection decisions with less risk due to an increase in the accuracy of a non-parent animal’s EPDs. The addition of genomic data to an EPD is comparable to adding another source of information, like progeny or pedigree records. Specifically on lowly heritable traits, such as reproductive traits, genomic data has the potential to greatly increase the accuracy of an EPD prediction and can be demonstrated.
ACROSS BREED COMPARISON —
Because AGA breeders have chosen to collaborate with members of other North American breed associations to pool their pedigree, performance, and genomic data for a multi-breed NCE, most Gelbvieh and Balancer® animals’ EPDs can be directly comparable with other animals in the registries of other partner breed associations within the IGS group. Gelbvieh and Balancer EPDs that are excluded from direct comparison included: heifer pregnancy, 30-month
pregnancy and dry matter intake. The $Cow, efficiency profit index and FPI™ indices are unique to the AGA and are not comparable across breeds.
CALVING EASE EPDS —
AGA now allows for the use of data from contemporary groups with no variation. This change resulted in thousands of calving scores and birth weights becoming available for genetic prediction in the BOLT-powered EPDs, reducing bias and providing you with calving ease direct (CED) and calving ease maternal (CEM) EPDs with even more power to predict the difference in ease of calving in heifers.
CARCASS EPDS —
A true multi-trait evaluation with all carcass and ultrasound traits plus weaning weight and post-weaning gain is used. This compared to the old evaluation where carcass EPDs were simply an index of the carcass trait and its corresponding ultrasound trait leads to a slight increase in accuracy for carcass EPDS.
CED CALVING EASE DIRECT — Percent of unassisted births of a bull’s calves when he is used on heifers. A higher number is favorable, meaning better calving ease.
BW BIRTH WEIGHT — Predicts the difference, in pounds, for birth weight of the calf.
WW WEANING WEIGHT — Predicts the difference, in pounds, for weaning weight (adjusted to age of dam and a standard 205 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to weaning.
YW YEARLING WEIGHT — Predicts the expected difference, in pounds, for yearling weight (adjusted to a standard 365 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to yearling.
MILK MILK — The genetic ability of a sire’s daughters to produce milk expressed in pounds of weaning weight.

ACTUAL WEIGHTS
FPI
DOCILITY — Reported as a percentage, with higher numbers indicating a higher percent of offspring receiving a disposition score of 1 (docile).
YIELD GRADE — Differences in yield grade score, which is a predictor of percent retail product. Smaller values suggest that progeny will have a better lean to fat ratio.
RIBEYE AREA — Differences in ribeye area in inches between the 12th and 13th rib. Greater ribeye areas are preferable.
MARBLING — Predicts the differences in the degree of marbling within the ribeye as expressed in marbling score units. Greater marbling numbers are preferable and are an indicator of higher carcass quality grades.
FEEDER PROFIT INDEX — An economic selection index designed to aid producers in selecting sires whose progeny will perform in the feedlot and are sold on a grade and yield standpoint.

It’s hard to put into words the impact Al La Mode 7B has had our program. Year in and year out, she produces a set of ET cattle that get us excited to share with the public. 6052L is a homo-polled son of Riverstone Vegas, who’s making an impact in his initial calf crops. When you combine the generating potential of 7B with KR Casino and the dominant Coleman Dixie Erica cow families, you get this rugged-made, good-footed bull. We are confident that Lot 1 will produce male and female progeny that will change the trajectory of your program. 6051L is the homo-black flushmate. Compared to his brother, he’s the softer-bodied, denser-built brother. This big-testicled, easy-fleshing bull prospect has the look and power to make a heck of a set of replacements and a fast-growing set of feeders. He comes with the same great cow families as Lot 1. He’s just the deeper-sided, shorter-haired brother.
If you’ve talked to me in the past 4-5 years, you’ll hear me mention “Jo” or 113G. She’s one of my favorite animals of all time. This huge-nutted, perfectly-footed bull prospect is why. He’s homo-black and homo-polled and of very high quality. He’s got his mother’s feet, legs and presence, and his sire’s muscle shape and beef bull quality. This bull works regardless of your goals, and his workable figures lead us to believe he will generate. He’s better than 60% of the breed for WW, YW, TM, HP, PG30, CW, MARB and CFAT.

5040L is a bad-mama-jamma! This homo-black, homo-polled 75%-er is massive. Simply put, this bull is big all over. Body, muscle, bone — it’s all husky, and he carries it effortlessly on a perfect set of feet and legs. This bull arguably has as much potential for semen sales and seedstock impact as any we’ve ever offered. To top off his unique pedigree and look, he’s dog-tame and brings some singlegeneration swing to the table on paper. He’s in the top 35% or better for WW, YW, TM, HP, SC, YG, CW, CREA and CFAT.

5046L initiates a set of brothers we’ve been anticipating since we saw Chevelle at David Larson’s a few years back. The 136G cow is the mother of past high-seller Godfather 1049J, who’s been used extensively at our place. This 81% dark red bull has awesome feet, a massive center body and a commanding look of quality. He’s in the top 35% or better for WW, YW, MILK, TM, DMI, YG, CREA, CFAT, RFI, FPI and EPI.
I spy with my little eye… something missing. Lot 7 got his tail stepped on when he was a calf and lost it. If you’re willing to set that aside, 5037L is a beast. He’s massive-bodied with huge legs and perfect feet. This tight-haired, high-growth bull has the look and balance to cater to any sector of this business. This dude’s an athlete! Clean-sheathed, bold-bodied, good-nutted and sure-fire stout. That 136G cow doesn’t miss, and this set of brothers by Chevelle are among our favorite high-percentage bulls we’ve ever made. Look for this bull to add weight and shape to your weaned calves, as well as body and fleshing ability to your heifer calves.
Like his brothers, 5033L has the extra size, performance and look we expect from our high-percentage cattle. He reads with pre- and post-weaning gains on paper and in the pen. “THERE IS ONLY ONE WORD THAT I COULD USE TO DESCRIBE THE VEHIGES AND THAT WORD IS FAMILY. A FEW YEARS AGO, I REACHED OUT TO THEM IN SEARCH OF A GELBVIEH BULL AND SOME MORE COWS TO ADD TO MY GROWING HERD. I HAD JUST STARTED TO DEVELOP MY OWN GELBVIEH PROGRAM AND WANTED TO EXPAND. I WAS IMPRESSED FROM THE MOMENT I MET THEM. NOT ONLY DID THEY WELCOME ME INTO THEIR OWN HOME, THEY SAT DOWN AND DISCUSSED EVERY TYPE OF GENETICS THAT THEY HAD TO HELP ME MAKE MY FINAL DECISION ON WHAT I WAS TRULY LOOKING FOR TO BUILD MY BUSINESS. OVER THE YEARS, WE HAVE BUILT A GREAT FRIENDSHIP. THEY TRAVELED OVER THREE STATES AWAY TO VISIT WITH ME AND TO COME OBSERVE MY GELBVIEH CATTLE AND FARM. THEY ARE STEADILY ENCOURAGING ME TO THIS DAY TO KEEP PURSUING MY DREAMS AND PASSIONS IN THIS BUSINESS. IN MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION, THEY ARE THE BEST GELBVIEH AND BALANCER BREEDER IN THE COUNTRY. THE REASON I SAY THIS IS BECAUSE THEIR BULLS HOLD THEIR VALUE, SHAPE, AND OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE ALL YEAR ROUND. I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING THAT THEY HAVE DONE FOR ME. THEY WILL ALWAYS BE CONSIDERED PART OF MY FAMILY.

Since Angus were created with a red gene considered as a recessive allele, it carries over to other cattle when mated to that specific animal holding the red recessive trait. This recessive gene still means that animal can be a classified as a purebred if not crossed with any other outside breed. They are technically in American Angus, but since RAAA is an open herd book, they allow producers to register those animals and can still be classified as purebred Red Angus.
Our bulls are out of registered Angus cows and sired by a Red Angus bull. Their genetic makeup can be explained by the table on the right. These bulls will sire predominately black calves, with a 25% chance of red calves when mated to red cows.
