ZyhCG (Generic Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Injections) are used for the treatment of select cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (hypogonadism secondary to a pituitary deficiency) in males, for the induction of ovulation and pregnancy in the anovulatory, infertile woman in whom the cause of anovulation is secondary and not caused by primary ovarian failure, and who has been appropriately pretreated with human menotropins, and for the treatment of prepubertal cryptorchidism not caused by anatomic obstruction.

Chorionic Gonadotropin (ZyhCG Injection) is a drug whose actions are almost the same as those of luteinizing hormone (LH), which is produced by the pituitary gland. It is a hormone also normally produced by the placenta in pregnancy. Chorionic gonadotropin has different uses for females and males. In females, chorionic gonadotropin is used to help conception occur. It is usually given in combination with other drugs such as menotropins and urofollitropin. Many women being treated with these drugs usually have already tried clomiphene alone (e.g., Serophene) and have not been able to conceive yet. Chorionic gonadotropin is also used in in vitro fertilization (IVF) programs.

In males, LH and chorionic gonadotropin stimulate the testes to produce male hormones such as testosterone. Testosterone causes the enlargement of the penis and testes and the growth of pubic and underarm hair. It also increases the production of sperm. Although Chorionic Gonadotropin has been prescribed to help some patients lose weight, it should never be used this way. When used improperly, chorionic gonadotropin can cause serious problems.

ZyhCG injections are contraindicated in persons with a hypersensitivity (allergy) to Human Chorionic Gonadotropin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. This medicine is also containdicated in patients with Precocious puberty, prostatic carcinoma or other androgen-dependent HCGneoplasm.maycause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. Combined HCG/PMS (pregnant mare’s serum) therapy has been noted to induce high incidences of external congenital anomalies in the offspring of mice, in a dosedependent manner.

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Injection (ZyhCG Injections) Side effects include Headache, irritability, restlessness, depression, fatigue, edema, precocious puberty, gynecomastia, pain at the site of injection. Hypersensitivity reactions, both localized and systemic in nature, have been reported. Call your doctor immediately in case you have any of these signs of a blood clot: pain, warmth, redness, numbness, or tingling in your arm or leg; confusion, extreme dizziness, or severe headache.

Inform your doctor immediately in case you are experiencing any signs of an allergic reaction: skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue. For boys: acne; breast enlargement; enlargement of penis and testes; development of facial or pubic hair; a sudden increase in height. For women on fertility treatments: indigestion; nausea, vomiting; passing small amounts of urine; shortness of breath; stomach area or pelvic pain or bloating; swelling; rapid weight gain.

Get immediate emergency medical assistance in case you think you have used too much of this medicine. An overdose of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Injection (ZyhCG Injection) is not expected to produce life- threatening symptoms. Symptoms could include blood clots, pain at the site of the injection, numbness, tingling, confusion, dizziness and headaches. Call your doctor right away if you have any signs or symptoms of OHSS: severe pelvic pain, swelling of the hands or legs, stomach pain and swelling, shortness of breath, weight gain, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, and urinating less than normal.

ZyhCG Injections During Pregnancy

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (ZyhCG Injections) has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category C. Chorionic Gonadotropin may cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. Defects of forelimbs and central nervous system and alterations in sex ratio have been reported in mice receiving combined gonadotropin and chorionic gonadotropin therapy in dosages to induce Multiplesuperovulation.ovulations with resulting plural gestations (mostly twins) have been reported to occur in approximately 20% of pregnancies when conception has followed Chorionic Gonadotropin therapy.
