Januvia Tablets (Sitagliptin Phosphate Monohydrate Tablets) Januvia Tablets (Sitagliptin Phosphate Monohydrate Tablets) are indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus as monotherapy when metformin is considered inappropriate due to intolerance; or in combination with other anti-hyperglycaemic agents, including Controllinginsulin. high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke. Sitagliptin is a diabetes drug that works by increasing levels of natural substances called incretins. Uses of Januvia Tablets
Januvia (Sitagliptin Phosphate Monohydrate Tablets) is used alone or together with other medicines (eg, Insulin, Glimepiride, Metformin, or Pioglitazone) and with proper diet and exercise to treat high blood sugar levels caused by type 2 diabetes. Sitagliptin helps to control blood sugar levels by increasing substances in the body that make the pancreas release more insulin. It also signals the liver to stop producing sugar (glucose) when there is too much sugar in the blood. This medicine does not help patients who have insulin-dependent or type 1 diabetes. Januvia Tablets have not been studied in patients with a history of pancreatitis.

Januvia Tablets During Pregnancy
Sitagliptin Phosphate Monohydrate (Januvia tablets) has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category B. Reproduction studies have been performed in rats and rabbits. Doses of Sitagliptin Phosphate Monohydrate (Januvia tablets) up to 125 mg/kg (approximately 12 times the human exposure at the maximum recommended human dose) did not impair fertility or harm the fetus. There are, however, no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response, this drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.
