Fertigyn Injection (Generic Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Injection) is a drug whose actions are almost the same as those of luteinizing hormone (LH), which is produced by the pituitary gland. It is a hormone also normally produced by the placenta in pregnancy. Chorionic gonadotropin has different uses for females and males. In females, chorionic gonadotropin is used to help conception occur. It is usually given in combination with other drugs such as menotropins and urofollitropin. Prepubertal Cryptorchidism Not Due To Anatomical Obstruction: 4,000 USP units, 3 times weekly, for 2 to 3 weeks, or 1,000 USP units, 3 times weekly for 6 to 8 weeks. Fertigyn Injections During Pregnancy Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Injection (Fertigyn) is classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category X and is contraindicated after conception has occurred. When administered to mice, animal derived formulations of exogenous HCG have induced a high incidence of external congenital anomalies.
