Fempro Tablets (Generic Letrozole Tablets) is used to treat certain types of breast cancer in women who have already stopped menstruating (postmenopausal). It is also used for women who have already had other cancer treatments (eg, Tamoxifen).

Female hormones that occur naturally in the body can increase the growth of some breast cancers. Letrozole works by decreasing the amounts of these hormones in the body.

Letrozole is being increasingly used as a treatment by fertility specialists to aid the development of ovarian follicles. Its use appears to be safe and has been in practice for many years. It works by lowering the levels of oestrogen which then enables your ovaries to produce eggs (ovulate).

Fempro Tablets (Generic Letrozole Tablets) Fempro Tablets Dosage The dosage of Fempro tablets (Generic Letrozole Tablets) hormone receptor positive breast cancer is given below: The recommended dosage of Fempro tablets is orally once a day, with or without meals. The dosage is given below: Recommended dose: 2.5.mg once daily In the adjuvant setting, treatment with Fempro Tablets should continue for 5 years or until tumour relapse occurs, whichever comes first.

Following standard adjuvant Tamoxifen therapy, treatment with Fempro Tablets should continue for 5 years or until tumour relapse occurs, whichever comes first.

Patients with cirrhosis or severe hepatic impairment: 2.5 mg every other day.

Fempro Tablets (Generic Letrozole Tablets) have to be stored at controlled room temperature i.e. from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) with excursions permitted between 15° to 30°C (59° to 86°F).

Fempro Tablets (Generic Letrozole Tablets) Warnings Decreases in bone mineral density may occur. Consider bone mineral density monitoring.

Increases in total cholesterol may occur. Consider cholesterol monitoring.

Consideration should be given to monitoring serum cholesterol. In the adjuvant trial, hypercholesterolemia was reported in 52.3% of Letrozole (Fempro tablets) patients and 28.6% of Tamoxifen patients.

Subjects with cirrhosis and severe hepatic impairment who were dosed with 2.5 mg of Letrozole experienced approximately twice the exposure to Letrozole as healthy volunteers with normal liver function.

In these instances, the highest single dose ingested was 62.5 mg or 25 tablets. While no serious adverse reactions were reported in these cases, because of the limited data available, no firm recommendations for treatment can be made. However, emesis could be induced if the patient is alert. In general, supportive care and frequent monitoring of vital signs are also appropriate. Fempro Tablets (Generic Letrozole Tablets) Fempro Tablets During Pregnancy Letrozole (Fempro tablets) has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category X. Letrozole (Fempro tablets) is contraindicated in women who are or may become pregnant. Letrozole may cause foetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman and the clinical benefit to premenopausal women with breast cancer has not been demonstrated. If this drug is used during pregnancy or if the patient becomes pregnant while taking this drug, the patient should be apprised of the potential hazard to the foetus.

Animal data and Letrozole’s mechanism of action raise concerns that Letrozole (Fempro tablets) could be a human teratogen as well. Physicians should discuss the need for adequate contraception with women patients who are recently menopausal.
