Uses of Cialis 10 mg and 20 mg Tablets

Cialis (Tadalafil Tablets) is used to treat men who have erectile dysfunction (also called sexual impotence). Tadalafil belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. These medicines prevent an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type-5 from working too quickly. The penis is one of the areas where this enzyme works.

Erectile dysfunction is a condition where the penis does not harden and expand when a man is sexually excited, or when he cannot keep an erection. When a man is sexually stimulated, his body's normal response is to increase blood flow to his penis to produce an erection. By controlling the enzyme, Tadalafil helps to maintain an erection after the penis is stroked by increasing blood flow to the penis. Without physical action to the penis, such as that occurring during sexual intercourse, tadalafil will not work to cause an erection.

Uses of Cialis 10 mg and 20 mg Tablets

Tadalafil is also used to treat men who have signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). BPH is caused by an enlarged prostate. Men with BPH usually have difficulty urinating, a decreased flow of urination, hesitation at the beginning of urination, and a need to get up at night to urinate. Tadalafil will make these symptoms less severe and reduce the chance that prostate surgery will be needed. This medicine is also used to treat erectile dysfunction and signs and symptoms of BPH.

The dosage of Cialis Tablets (Tadalafil Tablets) is given below: Erectile Dysfunction (ED): For most patients, the recommended starting dose of Cialis for use as needed is 10 mg taken prior to anticipated sexual activity and with or without food. Increase to 20 mg or decrease to 5 mg based upon efficacy / tolerability.

Improves erectile function compared to placebo up to 36 hours post dose. Not to be taken more than once per day. i.e. 24 hours must pass before you take your next dose.

Contraindications

Cialis is contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Tadalafil or any other component of this medication.

Administration of Cialis (Tadalafil Tablets) to patients using any form of organic nitrate is contraindicated. Cialis was shown to potentiate the hypotensive effect of nitrates

Administration of this medicine with guanylate cyclase (GC) stimulators, such as Riociguat is also contraindicated.

Cialis tablets are contraindicated in patients who have loss of vision in one eye because of non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION), regardless of whether this episode was in connection or not with previous PDE5 inhibitor exposure.

Contraindications

The following groups of patients with cardiovascular disease were not included in clinical trials and the use of Tadalafil (Cialis tablets) is therefore contraindicated: patients with myocardial infarction within the last 90 days patients with unstable angina or angina occurring during sexual intercourse patients with New York Heart Association Class 2 or greater heart failure in the last 6 months patients with uncontrolled arrhythmias, hypotension (less than 90/50 mm Hg), or uncontrolled hypertension patients with a stroke within the last 6 months.

Storage Instructions

Cialis (Tadalafil Tablets) have to be stored at controlled room temperature i.e. from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) with excursions permitted between 15° to 30°C (59° to 86°F).

Warnings

Patients should not use Cialis tablets if sex is inadvisable due to cardiovascular status. Use of Cialis with alpha-blockers, antihypertensives or substantial amounts of alcohol (5 units or more) may lead to hypotension. Cialis is not recommended in combination with alpha-blockers for the treatment of BPH because efficacy of the combination has not been adequately studied and because of the risk of blood pressure lowering. Caution is advised when Cialis is used as a treatment for ED in men taking alpha-blockers.

Warnings

Patients should seek emergency treatment if an erection lasts for more than 4 hours. Use Cialis with caution in patients predisposed to priapism. Patients should stop Cialis (Tadalafil Tablets) and seek medical care if a sudden loss of vision occurs in one or both eyes, which could be a sign of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).

Cialis tablets should be used with caution, and only when the anticipated benefits outweigh the risks, in patients with a history of NAION. Patients with a “crowded” optic disc may also be at an increased risk of NAION. Patients should stop Cialis tablets and seek prompt medical attention in the event of sudden decrease or loss of hearing Prior to initiating treatment with Cialis for BPH, consideration should be given to other urological conditions that may cause similar symptoms.

Respiratory — dyspnea, epistaxis, pharyngitis

Overdose

Single doses up to 500 mg have been given to healthy subjects, and multiple daily doses up to 100 mg have been given to patients.

Adverse events observed were similar to those seen at lower doses. In cases of Cialis tablets overdose, standard supportive measures should be adopted as required.

Tadalafil Tablets During Pregnancy

Cialis (Tadalafil tablets) has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category B. There are no data regarding the use of Tadalafil tablets in pregnant women to inform any drug-associated risks for adverse developmental outcomes. During animal reproduction studies, no adverse developmental effects were observed with oral administration of Tadalafil to pregnant rats or mice during organogenesis at exposures up to 11 times the maximum recommended human dose (MRHD) of 20mg/day.
