Clear Lake Fire Museum

Freedom Rock

thefreedomrock.com Part of a unique 99-piece mural throughout the state of Iowa, the 16-ton Freedom Rock pays tribute to Captain Henry Irving Smith, who was the only soldier from Cerro Gordo County to earn the Congressional Medal of Honor. The Civil War hero was awarded the high honor in 1865. Pick up a Freedom Rock map at the visitor center to explore them all!

Clear Lake is a bicycling town. Explore the beauty of nature on Sisters’ Prairie Trail and Ventura Cove Trail while on a 14-mile lake lap. The Trolley Trail on east Main Avenue connects Clear Lake with the Mason City trails system. Stop by our visitor center for a free bicycle map!
