Year 9 Navigate Now

Future Planning

What type of future do I control? How do I get there?

These are some of the big questions that the Year 9s are exposed to. With our University and TAFE partnerships, Year 9s start to think about what learning looks like after Year 12 and what types of careers these pathways can lead you to.

Students engage in investigations into their personal brand and further develop their sense of self and their place in the world. There is a focus on practical skills to help Year 9 learn about moving into young adulthood such as applying for jobs, how to answer questions in a job interview, managing their time, being independent in the City of Melbourne, managing their finances and communication skills.

CHOICE, INNOVATION, LEADERSHIP AND CREATIVITY

Students will have choice in many of the learning projects, to reflect their interests and ideas. We aim to excite our young learners in authentic, real world projects though a series of engaging activities and hands on learning. With a focus on problem solving and generating solutions, the Year 9s complete projects which reflect the design thinking process and encourages them to be innovative in their ideas. Student voice is integral to the program and students work along side staff to accomplish their projects and work in groups with peers to further develop their team work and leadership skills.
