late winter gray day bereft of expectations smart cats curl on sofas I scarve and bundle for a stroll where nothing distinguishes bay and sky autumn detritus still waits for a sunny spring day respite arrives in a single yellow crocus

long day’s showers end sunset colors empty clouds evening awaits the dark

treading the edge of winter evokes a soon to be cold day mirrored in gray gusty winds a weariness of the mind followed by chapped hands

treading the edge of winter indeterminate light and weather harbingers of a cold morning consciousness mirrors a damp breeze scarves and gloved hands
