C

ostruita nell'anno di grazia 1629, dal Principe Cardinale Gerolamo Colonna sul terreno donatogli dal Papa Urbano VIII Barberini, la Villa è opera dell'Architetto “Antonio Del Grande”. Quest'ultimo, fu incaricato dal medesimo Papa, di costruire il Duomo di Rocca di Papa e la chiesa di S.Barnaba a Marino. Già nel passato bimillenario, sorgeva in questo luogo una piccola casa perché in brevi soste, potessero avere riposo Consoli e Pontefici che si recavano a celebrare le “Feriae Latinae” al Tempio di Giove Laziale. Il vero gioiello di questo luogo solitario è il notissimo sepolcro del II secolo dell'Età Volgare decorato con insegne consolari e pontificali, attribuito a Gneo Scipione Inspalo. Con il Principe Egidio, secondogenito di casa Colonna, e fratello minore del Cardinale Gerolamo, iniziò l'ospitalità della Villa. Oltre a ricoprire notevoli cariche come “Patriarca di Gerusalemme” e “Arcivescovo di Amasia”. Egli soleva dare numerose feste in onore della Corte Pontificia di Castel Gandolfo, con la quale tramite la Via Alessandrina, aveva organizzato un fitto collegamento di carrozze.

Questo diede la possibilità ai differenti Pontefici susseguitisi nei secoli, di essere tra gli Ospiti più illustri della “Villa del Cardinale”.

uilt in the Year of grace 1629, by Cardinal Gerolamo Colonna on the land donated by Pope Urbano VIII Barberini, the newly renovated Villa is a faithful reproduction of the original palace, the work of the Architect Antonio Dal Grande who was also commisioned by the same Cardinal Colonna to built the Duomo of Rocca di Papa and the Church of S.Barnaba in Marino. Already in the past two thousand years, in this place there was a small house that was used a resting place by the Counsels and Pontiffs when they came to celebrate the 'Feriae Latinae' in the Temple of Giove Laziale. To real jewel of this solitary place is the well-known II century sepulchre of the Età Volgare adorned with consular and pontifical insignians attributed to Gneo Scipione Ispalo.

Prince Egidio, the third born son of the Colonna family and the younger brother of Cardinale Gerolamo, began the ospitality of the Villa. He was in the habit of giving numerous feasts in honour of the Pontifical Court of Castel Gandolfo, with wich he had organized, by means of Via Alessandrina, a dense carriage connection.

Caratteristica di questa struttura, come anche delle altre della stessa proprietà (Villa del Cardinale - Castel Vecchio), è quella di avere una cucina interna altamente professionale. Non è possibile infatti avvalersi di Catering esterni.

Eventi aziendali possono contare su anni di esperienza nel settore congressuale. Sono quindi di sicura riuscita Cene di Galà, ed incontri di lavoro, fino a 230 partecipanti.

he interior is able to host events for 20 - 230 guests. This structure, like the other structures under the same ownership (Villa del Cardinale - Castel Vecchio), has its own highly professional internal kitchen.

In fact, external catering is not permitted. Business events can count on years of experience in the congress sector. Gala dinners and Business Meetings, for up to 230 people, are therefore a guaranteed success.
