WHAT DID PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY?

Many pedestrians that we have came across were just visitors or Yale students who have not wandered off from the Yale campus. Many were told to be careful of wandering around past the Yale campus because of crime.

One visitor from Switzerland commented on the size of the roads and gave us their feedback on what makes them feel comfortable walking in cities. One couple really enjoyed the interventions on Long Wharf, ones that are smaller in nature like tree plantings, added seating, tables etc……

Overall many were hesitant in giving us feedback since many were visiting and others were not in realm of landscape architecture / “never really thought about it”

One pedestrian said that the downtown area gives off a “cold” feeling. They also explained that there are no public recreational areas like basketball courts or volleyball ( Gathering SPaces )courts, which they believe contributes to the “cold” feeling.
