Transportation from airport to hotel

Arrival around 2:00-3:00 p.m. Hotel DoubleTree by Hilton Suites Downtown

Check-In 4pm If arriving before check-in you might be able to leave luggage and explore city. Things that can be done, as it gets darker later sundown around 8pm You should we at the hotel by 2:30 to 3:30 pm keep in mind that check-in is at 4 pm.

When checking-in we need to ask if they have courtesy van transportation and how

Activities that you might be able to do after checking-in:

You can take the metro or walk nice walk to the Point, then cross to go Mt. Washington use the Inclines —or take train (price $ 2.75 each way) but it is walkable. See map in folder.

Gateway Clipper is one of my favorite things to do and see Pittsburgh the best and quickest is the Sightseeing Cruses but there are other options: https://www.gatewayclipper.com/cruises/

NOTE: the Point, the Gateway Clipper and the inclines to go up to Mt. Washington are all in the same area. See Map on last page.

Hop on and off busses fastest way to see the city I have never done this in PGH but many do it to see the city.

Gina Villiotti Madison is Executive Director of NASH kNOWledge, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is based in Pittsburgh. The organization was founded by her father and has been built from the group up to address an identified unmet need. Gina will talk about the creation of the organization, the work they do, and why they focus on specific demographics such as the Hispanic/Latino/Latina community. She will also share some examples of the work they do in the community. You can learn more about the organization at higadograso.org or nash-now.org.

School of Pharmacy and the exhibit of Dr Salk the inventor of the Polio Vaccine, the mouse chromosome sculpture in the BST Tower, and Dr Starzl statue in the lawn of the Cathedral of Learning.

Tour of the newly-built West Wing of Alan Magee Scaife Hall where the Medical School does most of its training.

Meet Megan Hall in the lobby on the 4th Floor at the Terrace Street entrance

After 4:30 p.m. Return to Hotel or suggested activity: Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh (suggested activity for the group $25 entrance per person (this can be decided by everyone). Closes at 8pm

REMEMBER: to please buy lunch the night before as we will eat it during travel between 1-2pm in our way to the STAT MedEvac Helicopter. Transportation: Meet at lobby of hotel at 8:45am and walk to Magee Hospital. After hospital tour, drivers will meet outside Magee hospital to travel to The Midwife Center at 10:30 am Bring lunch we will have a cooler to place the sandwiches in.

2:00 – 3:30 pm STAT MedEvac helicopters (10 Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin)

The Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania (CEM) is among the world’s leaders in emergency medicine, education, and research. The CEM has been responsible for shaping the future of emergency medical services (EMS) education in the United States and is one of the most prolific sites for emergency medicine research in the world. The CEM physicians and educators are routinely sought worldwide for their expertise. STAT MedEvac is a critical care transport system and is the clinical arm of the CEM. It has evolved into one of the largest single operated and dispatched air-medical transport system in the United States. STAT MedEvac operates eighteen helicopter base sites in Pennsylvania and surrounding states. The Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization directed by a consortium of hospitals; UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, UPMC Hamot, UPMC Altoona, and UPMC Mercy Hospital.
