Mental Health in the City
Reflection of MArch 1
Going from working in practice to starting my Masters degree during the Covid-19 pandemic seemed to be a tumultuous time in my career path. Lectures and tutorials were online, and I was working in my bedroom for what felt like an eternity, from one tutorial to the next. It took a toll on my mental well-being, but thankfully I had the company of my flat mates who were going through the same situation. My MArch 1 design studio was “Architecturra Superleggera” with Professor Greg Keeffe and Dr. Seán Cullen. In this studio we researched the production and transportation of everyday objects and how this impacted the environment on a global and local scale. I found the importance of this studio was how we change our perspective on the banalities of everyday life and thinking about the processes of these objects or situations at different scales and how they impact the user.
