Hedley Watt and his family own and work a property 7km West of Emerald in the Central Highlands, which is located 275km West of Rockhampton on the Tropic of Capricorn. Emerald has a strong rural background and is fortunate to also have Lake Maraboon only 27ks outside of town. The man-made lake is a 150 km2, 1,301,000 ML water storage facility that is used for irrigation, as well as supporting the towns water needs.

Hedley’s 2500-acre farm is a real family a air, with himself, his wife Fiona and their three young children working the farm which they purchased in 2004. They produce a range of crops including cotton, lucerne hay, mung beans, chic peas, barley and wheat using both dryland and irrigation. It is from here that Hedley also operates his aerial crop spraying business “Aero Professional Services”.

Over the years, the Watt family have significantly developed the property installing four centre pivots and upgrading the equipment.

Hedley has just taken delivery of a new T6050 and a 313 Discbine mower conditioner from the Emerald Branch Manager Mick Cli ord to work alongside his existing T7 & RB150 baler. Hedley likes dealing with Mick as he has product on the floor readily available and is always happy to get the price point right. The backup support however is what he thinks really sets the branch apart from the others. He has owned several New Holland units before but the New T6050 matched up to the baler is “one of the best marriages around”.
