CL ARENCE HALL NEWSLETTER & WHAT’S ON Bingo Lingo!

Monthly Bingo starts at the Clarence Hall at 7pm on Thursday, 10 February to raise funds for our refurbishment project. Admission £10 which includes a bingo book of six games, a pen and your first drink.

Recital Programme Our lunch-time Recital Programme begins on Saturday, 12 February from 12.30-1.30pm.

Bring a packed lunch and enjoy a performance by local musicians.

The programme begins with Caroline Jones and Sam Hall on Recorder and Piano.

Fundraising Update - £12,000 to go!

Over the last few months, we have made tremendous progress with our appeal to raise funds for the refurbishment of the Clarence Hall. We now need to raise just £12,000 to reach our target of £195,000 and secure the £100,000 grant we have been awarded by The National Lottery Community Fund!

Our Supporters Board (shown below) is displayed in the Hall Foyer and recognises everyone who has given over £100 to our cause. Due to the generosity of our supporters, we will be able to implement a refurbishment programme that delivers on the Community Consultation undertaken in 2020.

Celebrating the Platinum Jubilee In collaboration with Crickhowell Town Council, we begin our season of events to celebrate The Queens Platinum Jubilee with Hymns and Pimm’s on 4 March, followed by a Brass and Voices concert on 25 March. Look out for many more events in our March newsletter.

Hymns and Pimm’s Come and sing your favourite hymns at the Clarence Hall on Friday, 4 March in the first of our celebrations to commemorate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Raise a glass of Pimm’s with us to celebrate this remarkable achievement!

Conducted by Dian Winter, accompanied by Crickhowell Community Band. Hymn sheets will be provided along with tea, coffee and soft drinks. Fee £5.00, payable on entry. We would appreciate a message to 01873811293 as to whether Pimm’s or a soft drink is required. The Town Council and the Clarence Hall Trustees look forward to welcoming you to this event.

Crickhowell Walking Festival This year’s Crickhowell Walking Festival takes place between 5-13 March in the magical surrounds of the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. The exciting programme comprises 86 walks for all ages and abilities, over 8 days, all led by local experienced guides. There is something for every level of walker, whether you are happy trekking all day across the tops of the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons or would rather keep to paths and the lower slopes. There is also an exciting programme of evening events – talk, music and much more – all raising funds for the local Mountain Rescue, Longtown, Brecon and Central Beacons teams.

As in previous years, the Clarence Hall is delighted to host its flagship evening event.

On Saturday, 12 March, Whiskey River Band returns to rock the Clarence Hall. An electric 5 piece band who play red hot swamp music, low down dirty blues from the bayous, rocking country and good ol’ rock’n’roll.

What better way to let your hair down after a day (or week) out on the hills!
