After the uncertainty of the past 18 months, the Trustees of the Clarence Hall were delighted to receive confirmation that the National Lottery Community Fund had agreed to provide £100,000 of funding towards Phase 1 of the project to upgrade the Hall.
Mabon Farewell Tour Jamie Smith’s Mabon are coming to the Clarence Hall on 23 October as part of their “Last Huzzarh Tour”. Tickets are nearly sold out - if you want to attend, be quick!
Elvis Returns! Elvis, aka Abergavenny’s Keith Davies, returns to rock the Clarence Hall on 11 December with a Christmas Special. Tickets for both events from Webbs, Dean on 07850 731514, Lynette on 01873 812017 or Dian on 01873 811293.
Reflecting the priorities identified by respondents to the 2020 Community Survey, this entails installing a new and upgraded kitchen, new toilet facilities, a new disability access toilet incorporating a baby changing area, a small bar and an accessible entrance into the hall with ramped access from the A40 and car park. Commenting on the award, Chairman Dean Christy said: “The Clarence Hall has been a focal point for the local community for the past 130 years, giving Crickhowell’s residents a place for entertainment, meetings, education and volunteering. With the support of The National Lottery Community Fund, it is reassuring to know that we are a step closer to creating a welcoming and accessible venue that offers positive and inclusive activities for individuals and groups of all ages in the post lockdown environment.” Although this is welcome news, further fundraising will be required to reinvigorate this important community asset.
