CMC Parents & Families: Congratulations! On behalf of the Claremont McKenna College Parent Network, we would like to extend a warm welcome to parents and family members of incoming students. As the parent or guardian of a CMC student, you are a valued member of our community!

Orientation will no doubt be hectic, but we hope that you will take advantage of the programs offered to better acquaint you with the College, answer your questions and concerns, offer insights into the adjustments you and your new college student may face, and connect you with members of the CMC community.

To familiarize you with CMC, this welcome booklet has been assembled with a schedule of events, campus

map, and helpful calendars.

PARENT CHECK-IN AND HOSPITALITY ROOM The Hub, Emett Student Center Before programming begins, head to the Parent Hospitality Center located at The Hub at Emett Student Center to check in and receive your nametags, schedule, tickets, and other important information. Feel free to stop by throughout the day to take a break, ask a question, or mingle with other CMC parents.

Please note students may begin moving in at 8:00 a.m.; students must be present to sign for their room keys. Keys will not be issued to family members. No exceptions.

Drop-in times VOLUNTEERING AT CMC The Hub, Emett Student Center As the parent of a CMC student, you are already a part of the Parent Network. If you would like to become more actively involved, please stop by the Parent Volunteer Kiosk to meet current members of our Parent Network Board. Here you can learn about the many opportunities available, including career services, admission, communications, events, and giving. You don’t have to live locally to volunteer and support CMC and our amazing students!

Academic Requirements Mary Pickford Auditorium, Bauer Center South While allowing your student to assert his or her independence is great for their overall development, as a parent you likely have plenty of questions about how they will achieve academic success. Elizabeth Morgan, registrar & assistant vice president for academic affairs, will provide an overview of the College’s academic requirements.

Introduction to the Soll Center for Student Opportunity Freeberg Forum, Kravis Center Lower Court The Soll Center for Student Opportunity is home to three important services at CMC, including Career Services, the Sponsored Internship Program, and the Scholar Communities.

The Center sits in the middle of campus and is designed to see the campus through the “eyes of a student,” enhancing their ability to more intentionally and strategically access the variety of resources available to support their personal and professional development. Join Michelle Chamberlain, associate vice president for advancement, dean of student opportunites, & dean of the Robert Day scholars program, Kevin Arnold, executive director of scholar communities, Ursula Diamond, director of student opportunities, and Evan Wollen, assistant director of sponsored internships, to learn more about how to support your student in getting the most out of their four years at CMC. Student Wellness Bauer Forum, Bauer Center South Claremont McKenna College is committed to learning and living environments that empower students to make responsible choices that impact their physical, emotional, and mental health. In this session, members of the Dean of Students Office will highlight some of the many strategies in place to support this goal, and will offer information about shared services at The Claremont Colleges that are dedicated to student wellness, including Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services, and Health Education Outreach.

Representatives from these consortium health service offices will also discuss the many health and wellness resources available to students as they navigate their transition to and their journey through college.
