ilton Berle once said, “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” As a member of the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce for the past 12 years and having previously served as the chamber director twice over my chamber and economic development career, I am proud that our community has been busy building proverbial doors and laying the necessary groundwork for an exciting future. We faced a period of unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic; however, our chamber came together in creative ways, supported one another, and as a result, has emerged stronger than before and ready to move forward. With Chilton County’s rich history, agri-tourism, recreation, unique location in the heart of Alabama, five exits off Interstate 65, home to one of the newest hospitals in the state, Jefferson State Community College campus, and new and expanding infrastructure, including access to high-speed broadband internet, we are poised for growth. The road has not always been easy, but I believe in this community and what we can achieve together! Over the course of the next year, I look forward to building upon the traditions we have here at the chamber and exploring new opportunities. Chilton County was established in 1868 from portions of Autauga, Bibb, Perry and Shelby counties. Originally named Baker County after founder Alfred Baker Sr., the county was renamed Chilton in honor of former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice William Parrish Chilton. Clanton was established as the county seat in 1871. Agriculture is a major industry, with peaches being the most widely known of its fruits. Each year, a basket of Chilton County peaches is presented to the governor by the reigning Peach Queens. As of the 2020 U.S. Census Bureau estimate, the county has a population of 45,014.

Originally named Goose Pond, Clanton was re-named for James Holt Clanton, who served with distinction in the First Alabama Calvary during the Civil War. Clanton is the site of the iconic peach tower that can be seen from Interstate 65. It is home to a state-of-the-art hospital as a part of St. Vincent’s Health System and a satellite campus of Jefferson State Community College. Competitions and conferences from across the state come to Clanton to meet in the Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center. JEMISON, THORSBY AND MAPLESVILLE
ABOUT JEMISON
Jemison is the second largest municipality in Chilton County, with a 2020 U.S. Census estimated population of 2,642. Jemison had several names before it was finally named for Robert Jemison, who owned a stage line in the area and was influential in the establishment of Birmingham. Predominately settled because of the railroad, Jemison’s downtown is now along Highway 31. In 1976, the city was the first in Chilton County to elect a minority to public office when Eddie Reed was elected Mayor. It is home to the newest school with Jemison Intermediate School being established in 2017. Gov. Kay Ivey visited Jemison in 2018 for a Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
ABOUT MAPLESVILLE
Maplesville is the oldest town in Chilton County. It was named for businessman Stephen Maples in 1829. The railroad and the timber industry were major contributors in the development of the town. Timber and paper continue to be major industries there to this day. Historic memorabilia of the town is showcased in the old Maplesville Railroad Depot on the edge of town. Friday nights are special for Maplesville as the town gathers in the stands of the football stadium. The Maplesville Red Devils won three state championships in a row in 2014, 2015 and 2016. The heritage of the town is celebrated each year with Maplesville Heritage Day in April. According to the 2020 U.S. Census , the population is 637. 8 Chilton County Chamber of Commerce

ABOUT THORSBY
Thorsby was founded in 1895 by Theodore Thorson and J.F. Peterson and E.M. Faegre who encouraged their Scandinavian and Norwegian friends living in more northern states to move to Alabama. In 1947, the town was the site of the first Chilton County Peach Festival, which although it has moved to Clanton, is an enduring tradition to this day. A historic building for the town is Helen Jenkins Chapel, which was originally built by Norwegian Lutherans in 1903 and has been used as a church by multiple congregations and as a school in bygone days. The town’s heritage is commemorated each year during the Swedish Festival. According to the 2020 U.S. Census, the population is 2,063.

PEACH FESTIVAL

T
he Peach Festival has been
an annual celebration in Chilton County for the past 74 years. Each summer, people make their way to Clanton to partake in pageants, auctions, parades and fun, celebrating the fruit and the

farmers that put Chilton County on the map. For over two decades, it has been the responsibility of the Clanton Lions Club to make sure that everything is ready to go for the festival. In 2022, with the 75th annual Peach Festival on the horizon, the Lions Club is ready to go above and beyond to make this Peach Festival
memorable. The first ever Peach Festival took place in 1947. The Clanton Jaycees began the festival and pageant. During the first year of the event, a girl's father had to be a peach farmer in order for her to participate in the pageant. The first event was held in Thorsby, and Chick Jones was crowned Peach Queen. chiltonchamber.org

History OF THE PEACH FESTIVAL Since that time, it has grown into an event that most circle on their calendar each year. One of the biggest parts of the festival is the pageant. Young ladies from around the county participate every year, looking to be crowned the Peach Queen for their age group. What sets this pageant apart is that participants are not only competing to be part of an exclusive club of women that have been named the Peach Queen, but those that go for the crown in the Junior Miss and Miss categories are also competing for scholarships. Along with competing for money that goes a long way to help participants in their future educational endeavors, becoming the Peach Queen has other perks, such as participating in the long-standing tradition of taking a basket of peaches to the governor. As a part of the 75th anniversary festivities, Miss Peach Queens will be granted access to a group called Forever Queens. Former Peach Queen Julie Bentley created the Forever Queens as a sorority type of group for former Peach Queens, according to Lions Club member David McCary. This year, the Forever Queens will be recognized for the first time at the festival. They will be given pins that show that they are Forever Queens as well as a float in the parade. “It is a rich tradition,” McCary said. “We felt like we owed them some type of acknowledgement with this being the 75th.” The group will also be giving a scholarship to whoever is named Miss Peach Queen. Along with the pageant, one of the most significant parts of the Peach Festival is the Peach Auction. Every year, peach farmers from around the county bring a basket of their best 12 Chilton County Chamber of Commerce

peaches to be sold in an auction. Judges rank the baskets, and the farmers receive prize money based off what place their basket is ranked. Then, the peaches are sold, and all the money paid for the peaches goes to charity. “I remember two years, 1995 and 1996, the first basket went for $5,000 and the next year the first basket went for $8,000,” Peach Auction Chairman Glenn McGriff said. “Those were the two biggest, and later on, a couple years ago we did sell the number one basket to Marion Bank for $4,600. Last year’s went for $4,200 … The first basket of peaches is going to dictate what kind of auction you’re going to have.” In 2021, the Peach Auction was a huge success after it was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19. The members of the Lions Club hope to see even more people come out in 2022 to buy peaches and support the community. “Last year was the biggest money raising auction that I’ve ever been a part of in 40 years,” McGriff said. “We raised … almost $23,000.” While the Peach Auction was a big hit in 2021, there is hope that the whole festival sees even more success
in 2022. The world is continuing to try to get back to a sense of normalcy since the COVID-19 pandemic started. It affected several things in the last two years, including the Peach Festival. However, the Lions Club is pulling out all the stops for the 75th Peach Festival, and the hope is that everyone is going to attend what should be a very special event. Not only will the event be special for Chilton County residents, but also for out-of-county visitors who come out to enjoy Chilton County’s premier fruit. “The county is known for the peach industry,” McGriff said. “So, we don’t have to promote it. We do promote it, but we don’t have to because the crop promotes itself.” As the festival has grown, others have partnered to join in the fun, including the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce’s Peach Jam Jubilee, which is held the same Saturday as the peach auction each year. With all the other special events to make up the Peach Festival, summer 2022 will be an amazing time in Chilton County.

griculture is a foundational industry for Chilton County. Most widely known for its peaches, the county is also home to cotton producers, vegetable farmers, strawberry patches, cornfields and animal farms. Each local high school has agriculture classes and FFA chapters that compete in animal judging on a yearly basis with Thorsby FFA advancing to the national level of competition on a regular basis. Agriculture will continue to play an important role in the future of Chilton County with the development of the Alabama Farm Center at ALFA Centennial Park near the Interstate 65, Exit 212.The plan is for the Farm Center to have 11 main structures, including an exhibition hall expected to be at least 150,000 square foot, livestock arena, equestrian arena, several specialized barns for different types of animals and smaller
multiuse buildings that will be able to be booked for a number of events. The timber industry was crucial to the formation of Maplesville and remains important in the area and throughout the county. Today, tree-related products account for major employers in the Maplesville area, including Parnell Inc., West Fraser, Taylor Made and South Coast Paper. Parnell Inc. supplies wood for International Paper, Georgia Pacific, Boise Cascade in Thorsby and lumber company Kykenkee in Vance. West Frasier turns the cut trees into boards used in house framing. Many of the lumber-related companies in the county have been in business for decades with employees that have been with them for several years. The Chilton Regional Research and Extension Center has been the site of
important research for peaches, strawberries and kiwi. The Center is home to the Chilton County Master Gardeners Demonstration garden, which is open to the public during regular business hours. Chilton County Master Gardeners attend a weekly class for several months to learn best practices for a variety of plants. Once they have completed training, Master Gardeners complete service hours sharing their knowledge with the community and keeping the Extension Office garden looking great. The Chilton County Extension Office also hosts several agriculture-related programs for both adults and children throughout the year. These include 4-H programs with Chick Chain, a project where students raise chicks and document their growth being a highlight each year. chiltonchamber.org

hile Chilton County is a tourist destination for many stopping on their route along Interstate 65, it is also home to individuals striving to see the county flourish and grow. The county is strategically located in the center of the state, and is considered roughly “halfway” between Birmingham and Montgomery on Interstate 65. The area is bountiful in agriculture with varieties of peaches available during the summer months, but it is also home to many businesses and industries that continue to grow and attract others from around the world. According to the county’s Industrial Development Authority’s executive director Whitney Barlow, there are many factors that go into creating a strong economic development setting, but location remains at the top of the list. “We [Chilton County] are located in the center of the state and can capture almost one-fifth of Alabama’s population within an hour’s drive,” Barlow said. “This makes our county a prime location for economic growth ... in advanced manufacturing, but also in other sectors of economic growth.” Chilton County’s existing industry, as well as the quality of life, will continue to create a strong foundation for sustained growth. The states central location makes it an ideal place for industries. Improvements at the Chilton County Airport will help those from far away scout out potential places to locate their industries. In the next couple of years, the airport plans to expand its runaway by 1,000 feet to accommodate more commercial traffic. This will give the airport 5,000 feet of runway. “If we are not accessible and they cannot land here, we are going to be taken off the list for future development in a heartbeat,” Airport Authority board member Billy Singleton said. “If we get to 5,000 feet, we can draw a 500-mile circle around us, which is an average business flight in jet in one hour. That opens up an entirely different potential customer base. If (a business) comes and

looks at us, that’s the first step. Once they can get here, they will check into what else we have to offer.” The airport has 30 aircraft based at the airport, and it has become an important stop for those patrolling for forest fires and for emergency medical flights. In terms of industry, the county’s largest employer currently is Adient, which continues to make strides in the automotive industry with one out of every three seats in the world of automobiles coming from an Adient facility. “They supply an excellent quality of product to the automotive industry by producing over 25,000,000 seats a year in their global locations,” Barlow said. “The Adient Clanton plant employs 950 people and works to supply multiple automotive companies the precision and quality needed for their automobiles.” Additional industries throughout the county that continue to create a strong foundation of employment and growth for the county include O-Flex Metal Finishing, South Coast Paper, Stella Jones and West Frasier Lumber. O-flex Metal Finishing held its first job fair
in 2020 as the company switched to hiring employees directly, rather than through a recruiting agency. In 2020, the Alabama Career Center System secured a location in Chilton County to help employees and employers. Services include on-the-job training and resume preparation for jobseekers and recruitment assistance and pre-employment screening for employers. The Chilton County Industrial Development Board is committed to working with K-12, Jefferson State Community College and statewide workforce initiatives to identify programs to implement in all sectors of education, according to Barlow. “We want to create a pipeline for both our existing industries and new growth,” she said. “Working with all sectors to identify the needs and training deficiencies is a key to the formula of a strong local economy.” Many of the county’s assets include St. Vincent’s Clanton location, Jefferson State Community College, a strong public education system, a cohesive government structure and a strong infrastructure system. Establishing a dedicated workforce development center is also in the works. chiltonchamber.org

The Chilton County School System’s mission is “to provide a safe environment for challenging educational experiences which enables all students to succeed to their individual potential.”

hilton County Schools works to provide opportunities for students to excel in a number of areas. Clanton and Jemison schools provide engineering classes for kindergarten to 12th through Project Lead the Way classes. Jemison Intermediate has focused on developing unique learning opportunities for students in recent years through its outdoor classroom project. A pavilion, nature trail, sensory area and a weather station have been established. There are plans for standing work tables, convertible bench table, large chess pieces for the outdoor chess board and an amphitheater experiment station. With 7,877 students, Chilton County Schools offers preschool through 12th grade throughout the county. K-12 schools serve Maplesville, Thorsby, Isabella and Verbena. 2020 saw an increase in the number
of students choosing, at least for a while, to learn online. For the first time, this option was made available to students in preschool, elementary and middle school in light of COVID-19 concerns. Previously online learning had only been available to ninth through 12th grades thorough virtual academy at PASS Academy. All students have participated in elearning days, where assignments were to be completed at home and submitted online. To help ensure every student could do this, the school system applied for and received enough funding for every student in seventh to 12th grades to have a Chromebook. Most elementary schools also had Chromebooks available to students. These devices had already been used at several schools to complete in class assignments for the past few years.
Sports is a highlight for Thorsby and Maplesville high schools with both having very successful teams during recent football seasons. Maplesville High School, Thorsby High School, Verbena High School and Jemison Intermediate School each received Bicentennial grants in 2018 for remodeling and educational projects. The VHS project focused on preserving the school’s history and pursuing a designation as a historic landmark on the state historic registry. High School students have the option to attend classes on different campuses to take courses in specialty areas, such as culinary or STEM (science, technology, engineering and math.) Chilton County High School also offers Advanced Placement courses. Preschool classes have been added at every school through the state First Class Preschool program. chiltonchamber.org

LEARNING ANDKnowledge High school students have the opportunity to take a number of dual enrollment classes through the Chilton-Clanton campus of Jefferson State Community College. Classes range from English to EMT Basic training. Many juniors and seniors in high school choose to pursue hands-on training and certifications in their field through programs at LeCroy Career Technical Center. The center offers everything from welding and automotive work to cosmetology and nursing. Through the nursing program, students complete the requirements to test for certified nursing assistant and patient care technician certifications. Students learn about the fundamentals of health science, including the systems of the body, infection control, medical terminology and an overview of jobs in the field. As a part of the patient care technician training, students learn how to use the equipment used for EKGs and drawing blood. Completing the patient care technician certification allows students to work in a nursing home or assist a nurse. Usually the program includes clinicals at a hospital, but these could not be completed in recent school years because of the coronavirus pandemic. In the Electrical and Industrial Maintenance program at LCTC, students learn to use the basic tools needed to construct, troubleshoot and maintain standard electrical circuits and systems in homes and industry settings. Field trips are usually a part of the course, so students can see what they are learning put into practice on a job site. The center also houses the school district’s STEM Academy offering a variety of engineering, technology and robotics classes. As a part of the simulated workforce model, students apply to the program as sophomores. The Child Nutrition Program for Chilton County Schools has expanded to provide not only breakfast and lunch, but after-school meals and a summer meal program. The school system receives reimbursement for each meal from the USDA. 18 Chilton County Chamber of Commerce

JEFFERSON STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
CHILTON-CLANTON CAMPUS
T
he Chilton-Clanton Campus of Jefferson State Community College was established in 2008 through a partnership between the college and the City of Clanton. The city wanted a conference center, and the college wanted to establish a campus in Clanton. This partnership has strengthened as the college and regional business leaders work together to establish career training opportunities. The one-building campus is 30,000 square feet and offers courses in required core subjects as well as fine arts and nursing. Several dualenrollment classes are also offered to local high school students. More than 750 students take courses at the campus. More than 120 of these students are high school students taking dual-enrollment courses.
Each year English and history students work in groups to create a museum-style display of their work available for viewing by students, faculty and the public. COVID-19 saw changes to the way the college operated with many classes taking a hybrid approach with assignments being submitted online. The Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center features a performance hall, which seats 608 people, a 13,000-square-feet exhibit hall with a catering kitchen and three classroom-style rooms ideal for trainings and conference breakout sessions. A wide range of events have come to the venue, including business conferences, local graduations, dance competitions, dance recitals, proms and wedding receptions. Its proximity to Interstate 65 also makes it a convenient location to hold an event.
O
fferings to prepare and strengthen Chilton County’s workforce are increasingly focused on meeting industry needs. The Clanton campus of Jefferson State Community College has expanded workforce development program to include a heavy equipment operator program. The class was developed with the help from people working in the industry to decrease the amount of on-the-job training needed for new heavy equipment operator hires. Leah Bigbee, Jeff State’s Center for Workforce Education director, said industry leaders had said there was a need for this type of training. A simulator has been ordered for the program, which will make the program one of only a handful in the state to have such equipment. “It will give students simulated seat time before they do the real thing,” Bigbee said. She said the simulator will also be useful to show students the opportunities that are available. Bigbee said supply chain issues have led to a delay in the delivery of the
simulator. A heavy Equipment operator class began Jan. 18, 2022 and will run through April. New workforce development opportunities are also available through Jefferson State Community College’s Ready To Work program and the JumpStartAL initiative. The JumpStartAL initiative is a partnership between public and private entities that is incorporating virtual reality equipment into workforce development training. Students taking Ready To Work classes at other campuses, including the Chilton-Clanton campus, have the option to come to the Jefferson campus just for the JumpStart AL supported class. The college hopes to expand JumpStartAL opportunities to more campuses in the future. The Chilton County Industrial Development Board meets with existing industry leaders to discuss their needs and is working on partnering to find ways to help employees and potential employees receive necessary training.
The city of Clanton is also discussing workforce development opportunities through its Industrial Development Board. LeCroy Career Technical Center, a part of Chilton County Schools, offers a number of vocational programs to prepare students for their career of choice after high school. Partnerships with local law enforcement and fire departments offer academies in fire and law enforcement. Students in each program receive hands-on training in real world settings, whether doing body repair work on a car in the garage or doing hair and nails in the onsite salon. LCTC follows the simulated workforce model. Students apply to the program and go through an interview process. Selected students are then notified before the start of their junior year in high school. A student leader is also selected for each class to serve in a manager role. Safety guidelines are also taught and followed just as they would be on the job. The programs are designed to prepare students for certification in their field. chiltonchamber.org

hilton County’s medical offices and state-of-the-art hospital mean residents can have many of their medical needs taken care of without leaving the county. Some medical offices have expanded in Clanton recently to be able to serve more patients. Heart South has recently located to a larger office, moving out of space at the hospital to its own building on Medical Center Drive. The office provides cardiology stress tests, bloodwork, echocardiograms, vascular ultrasound and treatment of coronary disease, hypertension and congestive heart failure.

Fresenius Kidney Care in Clanton is a local resource that allows kidney patients to receive the care they need without traveling long distances. An expansion in 2020 provided for additional space to serve up to 20 dialysis patients. Clanton, Jemison and Maplesville each have primary care physicians. Opticians, chiropractors and other specialists can be found in Clanton and Jemison. Several specialists rent office space at St. Vincent's Chilton’s outpatient area, including those in cardiology, gastroenterology, general surgery, nephrology, obstetrics/gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, podiatry, pulmonology and medical oncol-
ogy/hematology. The hospital also features a 24/7 Emergency Department, advanced imaging and diagnostic services, stress testing, sleep lab, pulmonary function testing, inpatient and intensive care services and laboratory services. Technological advances through telemedicine have helped St. Vincent's Chilton provide a higher level of care for local stroke victims. Urgent care facilities are also available in Clanton. hilton County has a number of talented musicians and artists. This talent is showcased in events throughout the year. Local and regional musicians play at events such as Peach Jam. Some local musicians may also be heard at the third Thursday jam sessions at Pokana Talahassi in downtown Clanton. Visual artists promote their

work through annual art festivals and shows through the Chilton County Arts Council with headquarters in Clanton. The Chilton County Art Festival is held in July at the Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center on the Jefferson State Chilton-Clanton Campus. The Performing Arts Center has been the site for Dixie Flyer's Flyball dog shows, ballets and dance
competitions, AG Gun and Knife show, gymnastic competitions and MayMay Made It's "Made It Con." The Arts Council also encourages creativity beyond the canvas through March Gourd Madness and Another Man’s Treasure art shows. hether it is a sporting event, a relaxing weekend at the lake or an evening stroll, Chilton County has a variety of options for both indoor and outdoor recreation. Minooka Park near Jemison, often described as a hidden gem, has received several upgrades to create for opportunities for comfortable camping amidst scenic views. A large pavilion offers the perfect place to pause enjoy lunch and take in the beauty of the trees and far off hills. Activities available include ATV and dirt bike riding, walking, hiking and horseback riding. In addition, the park also has trails that offer some views of some of Central Alabama’s most breathtaking scenery. The park is located between Jemison and Calera in North Chilton County on U.S. Highway 31. In Clanton, there is Goose Pond Park located on Highway 31 North with picnic tables, a pavilion, walking track also opportunities to find “Kindness Rocks.” The walking track was paved in 2021 and LED lighting was installed giving the park a fresh look. The city is hoping to one day create a dog park towards the back of the park. There is also City Park located on Highway 145 with a walking trail, pavilion, playground, baseball fields, tennis courts, picnic tables and disk golf. This park is also one of the locations of the city’s three Free Little Libraries. These stand alone shelf units allow anyone visiting the park to take a book or leave one for the next person to enjoy. Higgins Ferry Park offers fishing, camping, swimming and a full-service electrical hook-up for RVs along with places for primitive tent-camping. The park also routinely hosts fishing tournaments. The Higgins Ferry boat launch is open to the public, and can be accessed by taking the Lake Mitchell exit off I-65, and taking County Road 28 until it

dead-ends at Higgins Ferry Park. A playground was added in 2021 thanks to the hard work and financial support of a number of donors. The climbing areas, slide and swings encourage children to have fun with little touches like a plastic spyglass to encourage imaginative play. Jemison City Park offers tennis courts, a walking trail, pavilion, and baseball and softball fields. The city park is located at 396 Brenda Lane. In Thorsby, Richard Wood Park is near the intersection of Alabama Avenue and Franklin Street. Individuals can enjoy a walking track, playground, exercise equipment, pavilion, picnic area, grills, and Movies in the Park each Friday at dusk during the month of June each year. Maplesville has both Double Fields Park at 6741 Shanks Drive and Single Ball Field at 301 Shanks Drive. Double Fields Park offers a walking trail as part of the Piedmont Plateau Birding Trail, baseball fields and a pavilion and Single Ball Field offers a playground, baseball field and pavilion. Confederate Memorial Park near Verbena offers a family-friendly option that covers both a historical aspect and visually pleasing site. The site includes a museum, research facility, showcase of authentic historical structures, and
a display of ruins and two cemeteries with more than 300 Confederate soldiers. The 102-acre park hosts both local guests and tourists and has the only museum in Alabama that is strictly devoted to the Civil War. One of the more picturesque places in the county is Lake Mitchell, a component of the Coosa River that lies 10 miles east of Clanton. The 5,850-acre lake averages 29 feet in depth and includes 147 miles of shoreline. Alabama Power constructed Lay Dam in 1923 to provide flood control and hydroelectricity to central Alabama. Since then, Lake Mitchell has become a source of recreation with attractions such as boating, swimming, and fishing. The lake also supports high densities of sport fish, such as largemouth bass, spotted bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, walleye, striped bass, hybrid, and white bass. There is also a Marina restaurant, which will open for the season April through September. The restaurant offers burger, sandwiches, catfish and other American favorites. Those looking for indoor recreation now have a few new options including martial arts, laser tag and ax throwing. he downtown districts in Chilton County remain an ideal place to find products and services offered by locally-owned establishments. A number of boutiques, restaurants and hair salons make downtown Clanton a great place to be. Both Jemison and Clanton boast family businesses that have been in operation for generations. Joining these pillars of the downtown districts are new restaurants that have opened in recent years giving residents more options than ever before. A grog and ale house on the corner of Second Avenue and Sixth Street is among the newest additions to downtown Clanton. The past year has also seen new restaurants and a pool hall

open in previously empty buildings. Jemison’s Main Street has been getting a second look in recent years as businesses have established and are expanding. A renovation and beautification project is planned for the business portion of the street. Clanton cuisine boasts everything from Chinese to Mexican to barbecue, while Jemison offers a sports grill, an ice cream parlor and Mexican-inspired fare. Maplesville’s restaurants feature barbeque and Mexican food. Maplesville also offers locally-owned boutiques, hair salons and a grocery store. Thorsby has opportunities to support small business owners through its restaurants and gifts shop/pharmacy as well.
Each town also has local florists available to fill all the residents’ floral needs. Each stop along Interstate 65 also offers delicious options, some highlighting local fare such as peaches and pecans. Restaurant offerings range from country cooking to Mediterranean street food. Local boutiques have been expanding in the recent years moving into larger pre-existing locations in downtown Clanton. Jewelry and antique stores in downtown Clanton give unique options for finding the right gift for someone special in one’s life. One of which, Rustique Relics, is on the Alabama Antique Trail. ANNUAL EVENTS PEACH JAM
The Peach Jam Jubilee takes place on the last Friday in June. Attendance for the 2021 event was over 14,000. The event included over 100 vendors, 50 food vendors and featured live entertainment.

RECENT EVENTS TRICK OR TREAT THE STREETS
Trick or Treat the Streets is held in Clanton each October. The 2021 event attracted over 5,000 visitors to downtown. Over 50 vendors and businesses participated to give out candy. This event also featured a Creepy Cart Golf Cart Parade.
