Transforming lives with Dignity, Respect, Empowerment, and Social Justice for 52 years

ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2024

GREETINGS

From Board President and Executive Director

In 2024, thanks to the impact of our inspiring donors and partners, Solace celebrated 52 years of empowering survivors and fostering healing in our community. Our work, guided by the endurance and transformation symbolized by the monarch butterfly, received widespread media recognition an achievement made possible by the generosity and dedication of those who believe in our mission of healing and social change.

Through steadfast support, Solace has remained a beacon of hope for survivors Together, we ’ ve sustained critical services like our 24/7 hotline, bilingual therapy programs, advocacy, forensic interviewing, and prevention education lifelines essential in a world where sexual violence is too often normalized

We were honored to be named Best Employer by Santa Fe Reporter readers, reflecting our commitment to our team through progressive practices like a 4-day work week and fully covered health insurance. We believe a positive and healthy staff creates a stronger organization one ready to help survivors reclaim their strength. Additionally, our Board Vice President, Amy Adler, was honored as one of Santa Fe New Mexican's "10 Who Made a Difference," spotlighting one of the remarkable leaders driving our mission forward.

Looking ahead, we ’ re exploring two exciting initiatives for 2025: a pollinator garden fundraiser to create a peaceful sanctuary for clients, and a Sexual Assault Summit to bring experts and advocates together to inspire meaningful action While these plans are still taking shape, your support will be crucial in turning these ideas into powerful realities that will transform lives

Donations, volunteering, and advocacy amplify our message and together, we can make healing accessible to all Thank you for standing with us; your continued support has fueled our mission for over five decades, and we invite you to stay on this vital journey with us We encourage you to share this report with your network of friends, colleagues, and loved ones.

With Gratitude,

Nirmala Ganapathy, PhD Board President

OUR STORIES

Clinical Services

Take a moment to orient yourself by letting your eyes wander around the room. When ready, close your eyes and picture a place that brings you joy, peace, and calm Engage your five senses: what do you see, hear, touch, smell, or taste? Notice how your body feels in this safe, calming space. This is called Resourcing, a somatic tool we use to reduce anxiety and soothe the nervous system.

The body stores trauma and connecting with sensations helps release it This practice becomes a toolbox of healthy habits, creating a sense of safety and ease, reducing intrusive memories, flashbacks, and painful thoughts. With compassion and curiosity, clients can process and integrate their trauma, allowing hope, trust, and a fresh perspective emerge, where life can be seen through new eyes.

Child Advocacy Center and Sexual Assault Services (CAC/SAS)

A typical day for an advocate requires compassion, patience, and dignity. We provide survivor-focused support on hotline calls, accompany survivors to forensic interviews, medical exams, or legal appointments, and connect them with essential resources like therapy or housing. Under the same roof, our advocates work with law enforcement and sexual assault nurses to meet the unique needs of survivors. Each day brings new challenges, requiring empathy, resilience, and flexibility as we guide survivors of all ages on their healing journeys Our goal is to ensure survivors feel heard, empowering them with resources, and collaborating with partners to promote safety and healing.

Education & Prevention Services

Picture walking into a Santa Fe middle school filled with unfamiliar faces. Now, recall the anxieties of your own pre-teen years. Through that lens, our education and prevention team spends the year fostering trust with kids district-wide to discuss tough topics tied to sexual violence, like bullying, consent, and gender norms. Sparking empathy in teens navigating peer pressures that harm their mental health isn’t easy but this is why we show up.

By partnering with local organizations, we guide students in building compassion, courage, and self-awareness. These conversations challenge harmful stereotypes and foster healthier relationships, creating lasting change one classroom at a time.
