November in an ‘odd’ year can only mean one thing – Agritechnica, where the agricultural machinery industry from all corners of the earth converge on Hannover for the world’s largest agricultural machinery show.

Here, among the 2,800 exhibitors from 52 countries, it’s possible to see the machinery innovations that will shape farming systems in the future, and the CLAAS stand was no exception. Among the new product developments, many of which we cover in this special HARVESTIMES supplement, some of the most talked at the show were the new TORION range of loading shovels, and TERRA TRAC versions of the JAGUAR 900 and AXION 900 ranges.

This was also recognised by the show organisers, the DLG, who awarded CLAAS with a gold medal for CEMOS AUTO THRESHING, one of only two gold medals presented this year, and four silver medals including one for the AXION TERRA TRAC.

CLAAS TERRA TRAC – it’s all about the soil Drawing on its 30 years of experience and over 25,000 satisfied customers, CLAAS used Agritechnica to showcase two completely new developments for the TERRA TRAC track system, fitted to a JAGUAR forage harvester and an AXION 900 tractor.

The benefits of the CLAAS TERRA TRAC in terms of reducing soil compaction, which in turn reduces yields and requires costly deeper cultivations to eliminate, are well proven, especially in the UK where the vast majority on larger LEXION combines are specified with tracks.

Taking its TERRA TRAC development expertise to the next logical level, CLAAS has now developed unique TERRA TRAC systems initially for the AXION 960 and 930 and JAGUAR 960 forage harvesters.

TERRA TRAC for JAGUAR With the new TERRA TRAC system designed for the JAGUAR 960, which has been stretched by 1.0m compared to a standard machine, CLAAS is the first forage harvester manufacturer to present a factory-fitted integrated crawler track system for forage harvesters.

A unique feature of the JAGUAR TERRA TRAC system is that in order to avoid scuffing when turning and so protect the soil and grass cover, the front of the track unit is raised, so that the machine runs on the middle support rollers. As a result, the contact area and degree of soil pressure change briefly to a level comparable to that obtained with 800-size tyres. Research shows that as a result, the shear effect (which is otherwise encountered when turning a machine with crawler tracks on grass) is reduced to almost the same level as that of a wheeled machine.

With 635 mm wide tracks, the JAGUAR 960 with TERRA TRAC remains within a transport width of 3.0 m with a top speed of 40 km/h.

With 800 mm wide tracks, the machine has an external width of less than 3.5 m.

Another practical benefit is that removal and installation of the corncracker from the side is considerably easier as the crawler tracks are lower than tyres.

AXION TERRA TRAC The AXION 900 TERRA TRAC is the first half-track tractor with full suspension - a fact recognised by the DLG who awarded CLAAS a silver medal for the development.

The crawler track system is based on the TERRA TRAC system used on CLAAS LEXION combines. The tracks use a friction drive system and feature a larger rear drive wheel to handle the greater torque, which is serrated to avoid the build-up of mud. Even during heavy tillage at low speed, the crawler track system transmits the drive power to the ground with minimal slippage.

The prototype of the AXION 900 TERRA TRAC combines the advantages of a tracklaying tractor in terms of traction and soil protection with the driving characteristics of a standard tractor and the suspension offers a high level of driving comfort at up to 40 km/h.

The independent suspension of the drive wheel, land wheel and support rollers allows the crawler track unit to adapt optimally to the ground. Despite its large contact area, the AXION 900 TERRA TRAC is significantly narrower than a tractor with wide or twin tyres.

Initially the TERRA TRAC system will be available on the AXION 960 and 930, and is planned to be commercially available in 2019.

New SCORPION telehandlers The new SCORPION range developed in conjunction with Leibherr was unveiled at Agritechnica.

The new SCORPION range has been expanded to seven models, that offer greater handling performance, thanks to their greater lifting capacity and new advanced driverassistance systems, improved driver comfort and efficiency, along with improved safety and reliability.

These benefits stem from a range of new features, such as DYNAMIC POWER for engine management, the new SMART LOADING driver-assistance system for fine control of the working hydraulics and overload protection, a fully automatic parking brake, controlled crab steering as a fourth steering option and an all-new cab configuration.

Better handling performance All the new SCORPION models boast improved working hydraulics and lift capacity has been increased to range from 3.2 to 5.6 t, enabling ideal handling performance and productivity, thanks to quick cycle times.

The new SCORPION retains the well proven hydrostatic three-speed VARIPOWER or VARIPOWER PLUS transmission, controlled using the joystick. A new feature is the electrohydraulic parking brake, which is automatically activated if the driver leaves the seat, the machine stops or the engine is switched off. When the driver puts a foot on the accelerator to travel in a set direction, the parking brake is automatically deactivated.

Also retained are the Deutz diesel engines,

which develop up to 156 hp and meet Stage IV (Tier 4) emissions standards.

Proven quick-release headstock

The new DYNAMIC COOLING concept

As with all machines in the series, these models are equipped with the proven and robust SCORPION quick-release headstock, which is compatible with older attachments.

In the new series, a side support for the telescopic arm is now available for the 1033 and 741 to 635 models. This additional support provides even greater stability and protection of the machine when work involves significant extension of the arm or pushing into a heap of soil or silage.

The existing airflow system has been further optimised in the new SCORPION series, thanks to the new DYNAMIC COOLING concept. DYNAMIC COOLING automatically controls the fan speed and guarantees demand-driven cooling of the engine, no matter what the operating conditions.

As before, air is drawn in at the front and flows around the engine before exiting out the back of the machine. The reversing fan system also works fully automatically, based on the settings selected by the operator. When working in particularly dirty conditions, the driver can also reverse the fan manually at any time, at the touch of a button.

More models for every application Two new additions to the SCORPION range, mean there are now seven models for every application. The new SCORPION 741 is a compact, manoeuvrable all-rounder, boasting an above-average lifting capacity of over 4.0 t. The SCORPION 1033 has been developed for areas where a particularly long reach is needed. With a lift height of 9.75 m, not only can bales can be easily stacked at greater heights, but it is also ideal for jobs such as pushing up grain.

The expertise of Liebherr In developing the new series, CLAAS has drawn on the expertise of Liebherr, the construction machinery specialists.

Together, they have worked on developing an intelligent chassis and bonnet design for the new SCORPION models, which ensures optimal visibility. The attachment point for the telescopic boom now lies lower on the chassis, significantly expanding the field of view to the right and to the rear.

Cab redesign The cab has also been completely redesigned, and offer complete 360° visibility. All the important switches and controls have been sensibly arranged and are easy to operate.

Optimal engine speed for all applications

The SMART LOADING system in the new SCORPION models combines all the systems to ensure optimum use of the machine’s capacity, and is equipped with automatic overload protection to ensure that the operating functions are always well coordinated.

With SMART ROADING and DYNAMIC POWER, the new SCORPION incorporates two systems to ensure an optimal engine speed, both on the road and during operation. The enhanced SMART ROADING automatically adjusts the speed when accelerating and once the maximum speed is achieved. If lower output is required, the engine speed is automatically lowered.

An automatic bucket return for loading operations with a set bucket position can also be included as an option, which the driver can set at the touch of a button on the joystick.

In the most powerful SCORPION 756 and 746 models, DYNAMIC POWER regulates the engine speed based on the joystick movements. The use of both systems in tandem ensures a comfortable ride in all applications, saves fuel and reduces noise.

Controllable crab steering In addition to front steering, all-wheel steering and crab-steering mode, the new SCORPION models also all now include an additional fourth manual crab-steering mode.

In contrast to the traditional crab-steering mode, with manual crab-steering the front axle can still be controlled, which offers distinct advantages for certain applications, such as compacting the edges of clamps or moving along the walls of buildings.

In addition, all new telehandlers are optionally available with CLAAS TELEMATICS. The SCORPION 741 and 736 models can also be fitted with large 500 tyres, which offer improved stability and reduce ground pressure when working in the field.

It’s not everyday that an agricultural machinery manufacturer enters a completely new sector of the market.

So it was inevitable that one of the major crowd-pullers at Agritechnica would be the new TORION range of loading shovels that CLAAS introduced in cooperation with Liebherr, which is the first wheeled loading shovel designed specifically for agricultural use.

The new TORION range comprises seven models in three different category sizes with a wide performance range. Initially in the UK and Ireland, CLAAS will be concentrating on two models – the mid-range TORION 1511 and the large-range TORION 1812.

The TORION range brings together the experience of Leibherr, who in 63 years of loading shovel manufacture have built over 60,000 machines, with unique CLAAS developments, such as CLAAS POWER SYSTEM, dynamic cooling and SMART LOADING.

Top performers: TORION 1914 and 1812 The largest TORION 1914 and 1812 models are ideal for contractors and large farming businesses. Both are powered by 4-cylinder Liebherr engines that develop 228 and 195hp respectively, and meet Stage IV emissions standards with no additional diesel particulate filter (available as an option). A particular feature of these engines is their massive torque at 1433 and 1215Nm respectively which comes in at 1100rpm, which is far higher than on any competing machine and ensures no shortage of pushing power.

The tipping loads are 12.4 and 11.1t respectively. Both large models are equipped as standard with the DYNAMIC COOLING system and an optional automatic reversing fan system for very dirty working conditions is also available.

The TORION is also the only machine on the market to have a CVT transmission. The infinitely adjustable, power-split CMATIC transmission works with a combination of hydrostatic and mechanical drive, to achieve optimal efficiency in all loading and unloading operations. The high level of mechanical transmission at lower speeds of up to 10 km/h and, at maximum speed, enable high power output with low fuel consumption.

A particular feature of these two models is their extremely low running costs, not only due to their minimal fuel consumption and high productivity, but the fact that the engine only needs servicing every 2,000 hours, while the transmission is checked at 3,000 and serviced at 6,000 hours, both far longer than on any other machine on the market.

The two largest TORION models feature optimal weight distribution with the engine located well toward the rear, ensuring easy access.

Unlike other machines on the market, the dynamic cooling pack is located behind the cab, keeping it well away from any dust.

In addition to the Z-kinematics boom, another unique feature of the largest TORIONs is the option of an agricultural kinematic boom, which brings together the best of the Z and P booms.

Both machines can be equipped with a highlift boom as an option, provided they are using agricultural kinematics. Measuring 3.0 m, it is 40 cm longer than the standard boom, and can achieve loading heights of up to 4.64 m (at the pivot pin). A high-lift boom is also available as an option for all models in the mid-range series.

TORION

Small and mid-range models

Small agile all-rounder The smallest TORION 639 and 535 models are an agile all-round machine built specifically with livestock holdings and special crops in mind. Powered by 68 and 63hp Yanmar Stage IIIB engines respectively, drive is through an infinitely variable hydrostatic transmission with two drive modes: F1 from 0 to 6 km/h, and F2 from 0 to 20 km/h. The driver can switch from one drive mode to the other at the touch of a button, depending on the application. For work at low speeds (e.g. feed measuring bucket), the amount of hydraulic oil can be controlled via the creep speed control.

The tipping load (articulated) of both models is 3.85 t and 3.45 t respectively. Despite a clearance height of less than 2.5 m regardless of tyre type, both machines are highly stable, even when working on uneven terrain and the central articulation/swivel joint provides additional safety and convenience.

The cab and boom on both models are positioned for maximum visibility. The generous front windscreen extends laterally to the cab floor and also provides an optimum view above, so that the operator can keep an eye on the attachment from any position. The rounded rear window provides the operator with an optimum view to the rear when on the move. The tapered boom narrows toward the cab, ensuring optimal visibility of the load and the attachment at all times.

Mid-range TORION series packs more punch Mid-range TORION loaders are equipped with fuel-efficient DPS engines, that meet Stage IV emissions standards and develop up to 167 hp. The hydrostatic VARIPOWER transmission provides three drive modes, from 0 to 6, 0 to 16 and 0 to 40 km/h for optimal adjustment to the conditions. Models in the mid-range TORION series are therefore ideal for farms and contractors requiring sufficient power for silo compaction or for handling grain, fertiliser and other bulk material.

All TORION loaders, including the mid-range series, benefit from optimal weight distribution. The unique mounting position of the

engine which is very low and well towards the rear, creates a counterweight to the lifting zone. This means that less additional ballast is needed, which has a positive impact on tyre wear and fuel consumption. It also means that high tipping loads of 7.75 to 9.75 t are possible at a low working weight.

The TORION 1511, 1410 and 1177 are all available with P- or Z-kinematics. With the load spread across the entire lift zone and higher holding forces in the upper working area, P-kinematics is the best option for most agricultural work, as it provides true parallel lift with a high tear-out force. Z-kinematics has a very high tear-out force and the bucket can be tipped quickly.

The SMART LOADING advanced driver-assistance system brings together all the systems to optimise the machine operation. Features include a programmable bucket return function and defined lifting and lowering limits, which make it possible for the operator to automatically guide the boom to certain pre-set positions using the joystick. A weighing system is also available, easily operated via a touchscreen. In the largest 1914 and 1812 models, the bucket return function and defined lifting and lowering limits come as standard; in the 1511 to 1177 models, they are available as an option. The weighing system is available as an option in all models.

All three mid-range TORION models feature a 7� touchscreen, which serves as a central information hub for operating the machine and is extremely easy to use. There are two different joysticks available for convenient and sensitive control of the TORION. The ergonomically designed joystick can be used to easily operate all boom functions with precision. The direction of travel can also be changed easily via a toggle switch on the handle. The multifunction lever, which is available as an option, has an additional four-way control lever that can be used to control a third and fourth hydraulic circuit, for filling and dumping a high dump bucket or opening and closing a silage grab.

The new DYNAMIC COOLING system controls the fan speed electronically ensuring demand-driven cooling of the engine, no matter what the operating conditions. The integrated reversing fan system is available as an option. It also works fully automatically, based on the settings selected by the operator, to remove dirt from the radiator grille.

UPDATE ARION 600 500

New generation ARION 600 and 500 tractors

The latest generation of the proven ARION 600 and 500 range includes two new models at the top and bottom of the range, plus enhanced equipment options, a wider range of engines and many new features. These include the new CIS+ system, the new CEBIS touch screen terminal, updated HEXASHIFT and CMATIC transmission functions and the PROACTIV front axle suspension, newly developed by CLAAS. With the introduction of the new CIS+ version, three specification levels are now available for the ARION 600/500. As before, all versions are available with a HEXASHIFT powershift transmission, alternatively the CMATIC CVT transmission is also now available in both the new CIS+ version with DRIVESTICK control or CEBIS versions with the CMOTION multifunction controller.

CIS versions retain mechanical spool valves and the CIS display, while CIS+ comes with electronic spool valves and the CIS colour ‘A’ pillar display as standard. Both versions have the proven multifunction armrest with DRIVESTICK to operate the transmission.

The ARION range has also been expanded with the addition of two new models. New in the ARION 500 range is the 125hp ARION 510, while the ARION 660 now tops the range at 185hp, but with a power boost to 205 hp for transport and PTO work.

All ARION 600/500 models are powered

by DPS Tier 4f engines using DPF and SCR catalytic converter technology. On the ARION 600 models the engine idling speed is automatically reduced from 800 to 650 rpm when the tractor is stationary, delivering additional fuel savings.

Updated transmissions The well proven HEXASHIFT 6-speed powershift transmission has undergone further development. New features include a cruise control function where the forward speed selected by the driver is maintained automatically at the optimum engine speed.

The engine therefore operates independently of the current task and is highly fuel-efficient at all times.

Also available is SMART STOP, whereby the transmission is automatically disengaged when the brake pedal is pressed, without needing to use the clutch, so reducing the driver’s workload, especially for clutch-intensive tasks such as front loader work and round baling.

The CMATIC CVT transmission also uses a new generation of software. New features include the ability to deactivate cruise control with the accelerator pedal, and the transmission adjusts more rapidly to the job in hand as the driver can switch between two saved engine droop values simply by pressing a button.

New PROACTIV front axle suspension All ARION 600/500 models are now fitted with the new PROACTIV front axle suspension, developed by CLAAS, which now only has 4 grease points instead of 19 previously. The tractor weight is optimally supported on the front axle thanks to the triangular arrangement of the two suspension cylinders which are angled outwards.

Intelligent control of the PROACTIV front axle suspension also provides active roll stabilisation

on bends and reduces pitching movements during braking and acceleration. This guarantees optimum ride comfort even when driving at high speeds on roads, tracks and fields, and increases safety when driving with heavy implements attached as it prevents the tractor/machine combination from bouncing.

Dynamic steering Another new feature is the CLAAS Dynamic Steering system. Dynamic Steering allows the driver to change the number of turns of the steering wheel needed to achieve the same steering lock and adjust the steering to the current task, simply by pressing a button.

Adjustment takes place in two different automatic programs, each with two levels, and a manual program with four intensity levels.

This makes handling much faster and easier, especially during steering-intensive work such as when using the front loader or when turning at the headland.

Other specification changes include: • The option of either the current 5-pillar cab currently used, or a new 4-pillar version similar to that used on the AXION • An electronic Parklock brake on the REVERSHIFT shuttle lever, with automatic engagement when the driver leaves the seat • Option of a new high output 150 l/min hydraulic system instead of the current 110 l/min load sensing system • Option of 42-inch rims and a maximum tyre diameter of 1.95 m on ARION 630 models and above.

New cab options for ARION 400 New features for 2018 versions of the ARION 400 range include the addition of a new entry level model, a wider range of cab options and the latest CIS+ control system.

In addition to the current cab options, including the multi-award-winning PANORAMIC cab, all ARION 400 models will now be available in a low-roof version, which previously was only available in the two smallest models. This

For ARION 460-430 models, It’s also now possible to specify the 24/24 HEXASHIFT transmission with four automatic ranges and six powershift speeds. Where fitted, this also includes a cruise control function, which allows the engine to operate independently of the current task, ensuring optimum fuel-efficiency at all times.

Other specification changes include: • Option of automatic climate control instead of the current manual air conditioning system.

• Wide angle rear-view mirrors • Option of ground speed PTO

reduces the overall height by 14 cm compared to the standard cab, making it ideal for use in low or older buildings. A transparent sunroof is also now available for all high- and low-roof cabs, which extends the driver’s field of vision upwards, making it easier to work with a front loader.

A new entry level version of the 90hp ARION 410 has also been introduced, which is not fitted with the multifunction control lever.

All ARION 400 models can also now be specified with the CIS+ system, which includes the CIS colour display, a 110 l/min

load-sensing hydraulic system and up to six electronic spool valves.

Where air brakes are fitted, this now comes with a compressed air drier to automatically filter any condensation out of the compressed air before it enters the accumulator, preventing premature corrosion of valves, cylinders and air reservoirs and damage caused by freezing water.

Over 50% of ARION 400s are factory fitted with loader brackets, and to further extend service life in future all the hydraulic lines to the quick coupler will now made from steel tubing as standard.

NEW AXION 900

New generation

AXION 900

New features for the AXION 900 range include the addition of a new 445hp version, plus more powerful engines across the range with a low-speed concept and optimised CMATIC transmission control, in addition to the new touch screen CEBIS terminal.

New to the range is the 445hp AXION 960, which like all other AXION 900 models is powered by the well-proven 6-cylinder FPT 8.7 litre Tier 4 Cursor 9 engine. This features a new, variable geometry turbo that delivers optimum charge-air pressure according to the current load and engine speed. As a result, 70% of maximum torque is available even when idling and the fully available power output now ranges from 325 to 445 hp.

The specification also includes: • Load-sensing 150 or 220 l/min hydraulics with release levers for all hydraulic couplings • Up to eight spool valves, controlled using rocker switches in the armrest and the ELECTROPILOT four-way control lever • Priority can be assigned to any spool valve and the pre-set oil volume remains almost constant even when other spool valves are in use • Adjustment of the ramp up and down speed at which the pre-set oil flow level is reached

Thanks to the advanced low-speed concept, the AXION 900 engine develops 18% more torque than previously at a lower speed (up to 200 rpm lower). This reduces fuel consumption and guarantees optimum driving performance for all field and transport applications.

• Various LED packages include up to 20 LED work lights and LED road lights, including daytime road lights

Further fuel savings of approximately 2 litres per hour are achieved by automatically reducing the idling speed from 800 to 650 rpm when stationary. In ECO PTO mode, up to 95% of the maximum engine output is transferred to the PTO shaft despite the reduced engine speed, allowing heavy implements to be operated at a lower engine speed.

• Wide-angle mirrors with two separately adjustable fields of view

All models in the new AXION 900 range come with the updated, continuously variable ZF Terramatic transmission. This features outstanding stability and power transmission with a high mechanical component, providing optimum efficiency in all speed ranges from 0.05 to 50 km/h.

The CMATIC transmission control system uses a new generation of software which further refines engine-transmission coordination. For example, cruise control can be deactivated with the accelerator pedal and the transmission adjusts more rapidly to the job in hand as the driver can switch between two saved engine droop values simply by pressing a button.

• Removable tool drawer with telescopic runners capable of holding a conventional standard toolbox • A compressed air connection by the left-hand cab access steps.

The major change for 2018 is the availability of an additional third CIS+ specification level, in addition to the current CIS and the CEBIS with the new touch screen display. As with the ARION 600/500/400 range, CIS+ gives the option of having electronic spool valves, the ELECTROPILOT four-way control lever and the CMATIC CVT transmission in place of HEXASHIFT, but still controlled using the DRIVESTICK.

The armrest now also offers a total of 10 freely configurable function buttons. Eight of these buttons are on the multifunction control lever and can be configured, for example, with various ISOBUS functions. Features on the CEBIS touch screen display include the quick-adjustment facility for frequently-used tractor functions using DIRECT ACCESS, operated simply by tapping the machine silhouette on the CEBIS touch display.

out condensation in the compressed air before it enters the accumulator. This prevents premature corrosion of valves, cylinders and air reservoirs and damage caused by freezing water, so significantly increases the service life and safety of the braking system.

CEBIS versions also now come as standard with LED road lights with signature lighting, which is optional for CIS and CIS+ versions.

All models also now have new wide-angle rear-view mirrors, with two independently adjustable fields of view. A leather package for the driver and passenger seat is also available for all models.

UPDATE CEMOS

CEMOS AUTOMATIC proves its worth CLAAS leads the way in the development of automated control systems for combines. Since the introduction of CEMOS AUTO CLEANING and AUTO SEPARATION six years ago, the range of functions under the CEMOS AUTOMATIC umbrella now also includes AUTO SLOPE control, AUTO CROP FLOW, CRUISE PILOT and 4-D cleaning.

Such are the benefits of the CEMOS AUTOMATIC CLEANING and SEPARATION functions in terms of increased daily throughput and grain quality, that these functions are now specified on over 25% of all LEXION 700s sold.

CEMOS AUTO THRESHING wins gold Taking combine automation a stage further is the new CEMOS AUTO THRESHING, which is available on both LEXION 700 and LEXION 600 models. Working in conjunction with CRUISE PILOT and the other automated cleaning and separation functions on the combine, AUTO THRESHING automatically adjusts the drum speed and concave gap relative to crop conditions, and was awarded a gold medal at Agritechnica.

As with all the other automated systems on the LEXION, AUTO THRESHING requires no lengthy setting up, but takes as its starting point the basic setting for the crop, and working with the AUTO CLEANING and on LEXION 700’s AUTO SEPARATION, the AUTO THRESHING function will find the ideal drum setting to ensure that the grain is threshed as gently as possible and as aggressively as necessary. Not only does this result in an improved sample, but also makes the work of the ongoing automated systems far easier, so helping increase throughput.

On both the LEXION 700 and 600, when engaged AUTO CLEANING works in conjunction with the GRAIN QUALITY CAMERA, which monitors the proportion of broken grains and non-grain constituents (NGC), and this information is shown on the CEBIS or CEBIS MOBILE display. AUTO CLEANING will continuously automatically adjust the fan speed and the upper and lower sieves far more often than would be possible by the operator. This ensures that optimum grain quality is maintained at all times.

The AUTO SEPARATION function for the LEXION 700 HYBRID automatically adjusts the speed of the rotors and the rotor cover plates, depending on the operating strategy selected. Again, CEMOS AUTO SEPARATION reacts and changes the settings constantly, and over the length of a day will provide higher quality and throughput than would be humanly possible.

Depending on the crop and the operator’s requirements, there is the option of selecting four operating strategies:

• Optimum Grain Quality • Maximum throughput • Optimum fuel economy • Balanced At all times the operator is able to override either all the automatic functions or individual functions to alter the settings manually, or use CEMOS DIALOG to gain further advise and instructions for machine optimisation.

New touch screen CEBIS

New features for the CLAAS tractor range for 2018 include the option of a new touch screen version of CEBIS for the AXION 900/800 and ARION 600/500 ranges.

In addition, AXION 800 and ARION 600/500/400 customers will now also have the option of a new third specification level, CIS+ which makes available features such as electronic spool valves and the CMATIC CVT transmission, but without needing full CEBIS.

Touch screen CEBIS The new CEBIS system for the AXION 900/800 and ARION 600/500 tractor ranges includes a fully redesigned and high-resolution CEBIS terminal which has a 12-inch touch screen display. CEBIS also incorporates a completely new user interface with intuitive DIRECT ACCESS, while the multifunction armrest includes 10 freely assignable function buttons and the CMOTION multifunction control lever which can be operated using just three fingers.

Enter settings simply by touching the screen At the heart of the new CEBIS system is the large 12-inch HD colour touch screen display. The logical and familiar structure of the previous CEBIS display has been deliberately retained and transferred to touch screen operation. However, the clearly arranged user interface with large icons has been completely redesigned to allow all the main tractor functions to be clearly viewed and adjusted in just a few steps.

A simplified picture of a tractor on the screen provides DIRECT ACCESS to many functions. By touching the required function area, such as the PTO or engine, this opens the relevant dialogue window.

The hydraulic spool valve settings can also be selected directly from the main screen.

The DIRECT ACCESS button on the armrest or on the CEBIS terminal can also be used to go straight to the last viewed tractor function for further fine-tuning. In addition to the touch screen, all the CEBIS functions can also be adjusted in the usual way by means of the rotary/ push switch + ESC button on the armrest.

The settings themselves can be configured by each driver to suit personal preferences and habits. In open dialogue windows, settings can be entered by means of a dial or plus/minus slider. Up to three menu levels can be displayed next to each other, making it easy to trace the route back to the starting menu at any time.

The CEBIS system also includes a total of ten function buttons which the driver can freely configure with a range of control functions, depending on personal preferences.

Settings for up to 20 different implements can be saved and directly accessed. The CSM headland management sequences are also directly assigned to the current implement so that they can be accessed the next time the implement is used, simply by pressing a button.

Using the edit function in the CSM headland management system, previously recorded sequences can be easily refined manually without re-recording, so saving time.

Other new features include hydraulic spool valve controls that can be freely assigned to the spool valves. The ramp up and ramp down speed at which each spool valve reaches the pre-set oil flow can also be defined in the new CEBIS terminal.

The driver can also now assign priority to any spool valve. The pre-set oil volume for the selected spool valve then remains almost constant even when other spool valves are in use, so is ideal for implements such as air drills, where maintaining fan speed is important. The screen for the new CEBIS can also display video images from external cameras such as the CLAAS PROFI CAM.

and CIS+ control options New CIS+ specification With the new CIS+ electronic spool valves and the CMATIC CVT transmission are now available on the AXION 800 and ARION 600/500/400 without needing the full CEBIS specification.

CIS+ system has an extremely clear layout and is very user-friendly.

New functions include the DRIVESTICK to operate the CMATIC or HEXASHIFT transmission, an ELECTROPILOT four-way control lever with direction change, and the integrated 7-inch CIS colour display for viewing and configuring all the main machine functions.

Using CIS+, the CMATIC transmission is controlled from the updated DRIVESTICK in the armrest, which has proportional control of transmission acceleration and deceleration.

When the accelerator pedal mode is selected, the DRIVESTICK can be used to manually intensify or reduce the engine braking effect. A cruise control button is also provided on the DRIVESTICK. The current forward speed can be saved simply by pressing this button.

With the HEXASHIFT transmission, the new SMART STOP function and cruise control are also now available with the CIS+.

CIS+ also includes the new, ergonomically shaped ELECTROPILOT four-way control lever which is ideal for front loader work or combined

operations. The hydraulic functions are controlled as before using the four-way control lever, while forward or reverse travel can be selected at the touch of a button.

The CIS+ equipment package includes a 7-inch CIS colour display built into the A-pillar. This display enables the driver to keep track of all the key tractor and machine functions, such as the transmission, headland management and electronic spool valves. As with CIS, with CIS+ all the functions are controlled and adjusted using the rotary/push switch and ESC button on the dashboard.

Other new features previously only available with CEBIS include flow rate and time control for individual spool valves, and up to four sequences can be recorded with the CSM headland management system. Up to six spool valves are available in total, with electronic actuation.

The driver can also directly control various ISOBUS machines during operation by means of the ISOBUS interfaces and FÂ buttons which are part of the standard CIS+ equipment. The FÂ buttons provided can be easily configured with the required function.

CEBIS MOBILE

For 2018, all the CEMOS AUTOMATIC and DIALOG functions on LEXION 700 HYBRID and 600 straw-walker combines can be controlled using the new 12-inch touch screen version of the CEBIS MOBILE terminal.

The new CEBIS MOBILE terminal features a high-resolution colour touch screen that makes it easy and quick to set-up and monitor all the CEMOS AUTOMATIC functions. A silhouette of the combine continuously displays the settings for all the main functional areas of the combine, such as rotor and fan speed, grain moisture and grain tank fill level. At the bottom of the screen, two slide controls allow the operator to alter the optimum balance between grain cleanliness, straw quality and throughput.

When consulting CEMOS DIALOG, suggestions for further improving throughput or quality are displayed on the CEBIS MOBILE screen and are implemented by tapping the screen. Alternatively the operator can interrogate CEMOS DIALOG on ways to improve specific aspects, such as grain quality, which again can be accepted or rejected by tapping the screen.

The new CEBIS MOBILE terminal can also be used to set-up and monitor results from the GRAIN QUALITY camera, which is mounted in the elevator head. Again, by tapping the screen, this opens a window that can be used to alter the sensitivity, and hence the required level of grain cleaning.

At the bottom of the CEBIS MOBILE screen under the combine silhouette is the ‘cockpit’, which is used to display the CRUISE PILOT status. CRUISE PILOT automatically controls the speed of the LEXION, by monitoring various machine parameters such as ground speed, crop volume in the feeder housing, throughput in tonnes/ hour and engine load, all of which is displayed in the ‘cockpit’. The display will also show the factor that is limiting combine performance under current conditions, which can then be altered using the touch screen. The screen can also be used to alter the required operating mode between Constant Speed, Constant Throughput and Constant Throughput with losses.

Free CEMOS App Even where CEMOS AUTOMATIC or DIALOG is not fitted, or not available on models such as the TUCANO and AVERO, the operator can still benefit from CEMOS and access its wealth of advice and information via the CEMOS Advisor App, which is free to download.

Using a smartphone, if an operator has a particular problem or just wants advice on how to improve efficiency and throughput, they can use the CEMOS App to find hints and suggestions, and will be guided through how to implement these changes. Having tried the suggested settings, if successful they can be saved in the App and accessed at a later date.

The App can also be used to easily estimate grain loss. Having entered various values, the driver will gain an accurate prediction of the percentage of grain loss, and can then use the App to gain suggested changes to the settings to help reduce losses.
