MOVING FORWARD Every day our teachers and students show up and step up in the classroom, on the field, in service, and in prayer. We face hurdles as a community and we celebrate our victories together. We are steadfast in our resolve to keep moving forward to provide an extraordinary CKS experience for our families. We have found that even in the toughest times, learning and joy find a way to shine. Our commitment to the success of our students and teachers, strengthened by the support of our CKS community, made the difference this year in opening school safely for live, in-person instruction. It is that resilient spirit, abiding faith, and tradition of generosity that continue to advance the mission of CKS. Without you and your commitment to the CKS Fund every year, we couldn’t do what we do. The CKS Fund is our highest giving priority every year. Funded by our parents, grandparents, alumni, and community, this vital source powers our forward momentum. The CKS Fund guides our ability to maintain and enhance innovative programs, supports our outstanding faculty and staff with professional development, and provides our students with a National Blue Ribbon School experience.

There is such joy in hearing a child read aloud for the first time and watching a whole new world open up to them. Reading doesn’t come easily to all children though. That’s why the continuous professional development and specialized training our teachers receive plays a key role in reading success. Our CKS Instructional Coach and Reading Specialist gives a compelling example: “Four years ago, I had a student who had come to CKS from another state. She was in 1st grade, she could not read, and she told me that she was made fun of when she tried to read at her old school. I felt so gratified that with my specialized training, and her hard work, she learned to read! It gave me chills to watch this student stand up at Mass recently as a confident 5th grader and read to the entire school!” All CKS teachers have access to specialized trainings and professional development opportunities funded through the CKS Fund that help them support and challenge our students in the classroom.
ROARING BACK In a year like no other, our Lions came roaring back and we found out what our community is made of: the dedication of our teachers, the support of our families, and the resilience of our students. This year alone, we provided an extraordinary amount of tuition assistance, spent thousands of dollars on health and safety measures, intentionally limited enrollment to create safely distanced classrooms, and regretfully canceled long standing fundraising events. CKS is open today because your past generosity allowed us to implement:
New technology that allows for flexible learning
New sanitizing equipment for classrooms and playgrounds
New picnic tables that enable students to distance at lunch and provide outside classroom space
Increased staffing to accommodate new health and safety protocols
New dismissal system app to allow students to remain in classroom until dismissed
New air purification system installed throughout school
