RU L E D SU R FA C E This project helped me to explore architecture through the use of ruled surfaces. For this exercise, I started with two different abstract hand drawings of ruled surfaces and furthered one into a physical model based on my own interpretation of the heights and cavities. 2 | WORKSHOPS

BOOLEAN Through this project, I was able to explore the concept of Boolean architecture. The project had two main deliverables: a wireframe 1’ box with volumes intersecting each face, as well as a solid representation of the wireframe with the volumes represented by a lack of space. The project created a visual for intersecting volumes that eventually take on the inverted state - subtraction versus addition.

For this project, I moved forward with the ruled surface workshop and designed five cabins that utilized ruled sufaces on Issaqueena Lake in Clemson, SC. I strayed from my original ruled surface practice and used surfaces that seemed to twist instead. Three of the cabins remained at the same scale, while the other two changed scale and became larger and therefore were more offset into the land. With this in mind, I moved forward with diagrams that show the ruled surfaces in action as well as how these cabins interact with the site.

20 | THE CAVE
The Cave is a branch library based in the Cottontown neighborhood of downtown Columbia, SC. For the library, I started with a specific field condition - wood grain and used this condition to influence the interior space of the library. I interpreted woodgrain as a way fo defining a topographical space. This then created this cave-like interior and countered exterior facade. This project is defined by many diagrams as well as a section model.

FLOW is a coworking office building located on the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, NY. The space is a designated coworking space where different companies can use the floors as different workable areas. FLOW is focused around the experience that the average employee has within their workplace. This building aims to help soothe employees’ stress by providing experiential water on every floor. The water is a mixture between rainwater collected on the roof and plumbing and flows through every floor to eventually meet at the ground floor and be expelled into the site. The incorporation of water aims to change the work environment from a “corporate” one to a more peaceful one and therefore encourage productivity, mindfulness, and optimism.

Singleton Park Spring 2020 Professor Ray Huff Completed with Summer Gallman, Marissa Cutry, and Celia Gannaway
Singleton Park is a block redevelopment design. We took the current Singleton Park in downtown Charleston, South Carolina and redesigned the park taking into consideration elevation changes and the issue of flooding, as well as redesigned three of the four adjacent blocks on Hanover Street, Nassau Street, and Conroy Street. As a group, we developed the park design, however, Summer Gallman and I focused on the redesign of the site on Hanover Street, incorporating a mixed-used structure meant to increase population density.

COVID-19 Plans + Layouts Summer 2020 Directed under Professor and Director Ray Huff
I assisted the Director of the Clemson Design Center Charleston Campus, Ray Huff, with organizing plans and layouts of the studio spaces for the Fall 2020 semester to send to the director of the architecture department at Clemson. This meant using a base floor plan of the Center to create plans of every room individually, paying close attention to scale and lineweights. Once the plans were created, I explored how to layout studio desks in several studio spaces following COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.
