Congratulations to the Como-Jannali club who hosted their Indigenous Round on Saturday which celebrates the great work the club does in celebrating cultural diversity within its membership.

The Engadine club also hosted a massive day on Saturday to celebrate their Mental Fitness Round, and also celebrate the 1984 u17 premiership. The Dragons A-grade team certainly responded and turned in one of their best efforts of the year, taking Bosco all the way before going down narrowly 12-8.

All our clubs should be congratulated on their efforts to engage with and support their communities through various programs across the season

With only two rounds until finals I wish all teams still fighting for a finals berth the best of luck.

With finals just around the corner its timely to remind all participants that we are all subject to the Code of Conduct, and the CJRL strive for match days and venues where everyone feels welcome. Players are reminded that swearing and foul language may incur a penalty by the match official so please check your behaviour.

Southern Corridor Competitions

As we move towards finals in the Southern Corridor Competitions, several CJRL teams looking like serious contenders in all competitions.

Under 18 boys gold saw Bosco knock over the previously unbeaten Thirroul Butchers in a tough battle at Boystown Oval 12-6. With another match against the Butchers in the final round the Bulldogs remain a chance to snatch the minor premiership and ensure the grand final is hosted in the Shire. Aquinas put together back-to-back wins with a 20-16 win over Kingsgrove, and if they roll Western Suburbs on Sunday at Blaxland Oval the Colts could conceivably snatch fourth place in the final round if other results go their way.

In U18 girls Engadine continued their good recent form with a 38-0 win over Milton-Ulladulla at Albion Park, and Cronulla-Caringbah defeated Como-Jannali 32-0. Cronulla-Caringbah hold onto 2nd place on 25 points with Campbeltown City in 1st place on 27 points, and Engadine move into 3rd place on 22 points.

This Saturday in the u18 girls competition, Engadine host Corrimal at Anzac Oval at 1.10pm, Como-Jannali host Minto at 2,20pm and Cronulla-Caringbah travel to Windang to face the Pelicans.

In open womens, Como-Jannali scored a big win over Taren Point 30-6, and host 2nd placed Penshurst on Sunday at 2.40pm.

Bosco u18s re-group during the clash with Thirroul on Sunday.

Team Liaison Officer

 Each team must provide a “Team Liaison Officer” (TLO) who will act as a contact point for the Ground Manager during fixtures at CJRL venues. Should supporters /spectators from either club behave in a manner that would previously been dealt with by the Ground Manager, from this point the Ground Manager will engage the relevant Team Liaison Officer to address this issue with the spectators involved.

 The Ground Manager at each venue will hold two Hi-Vis Pink vests that each Team Liaison Officer will be required to wear during the course of the match so they can be easily identified. The TLO is to make themselves known to the Ground Manager prior to the start of the match, and names of each TLO recorded on match sheets.

 The Team Liaison Officer will be required to remain near the bench area for his or her team during the match, but remain outside the roped/fenced playing area.

 Ground Managers and Team Liaison Officers shall not be permitted to drink alcohol prior to or whilst acting in these roles.

 The Team Liaison Officer will be required to assist in resolving any situation that may occur relating to their teams’ spectators/supporters. ie: trying to calm the situation down before it escalates.

 The Team Liaison Officer will work with and assist the Ground Manager. The Ground Manager still has the responsibility of maintaining control of spectators, interchange bench areas, and liaising with match officials, this is not the role of the Team Liaison Officer.

 At the end of the match the Hi-Vis Pink vest is to be handed back to the Ground Manager (not left on the interchange bench or on the ground).

 The Team Liaison Officer (as per the Ground Manager) should be a person capable of maintaining a calm demeanour and be a minimum of 18 years of age. Ideally the TLO would be someone closely aligned with the team but cannot be carrying out an accredited match day role (coach, trainer etc).

NO MATCH IS TO COMMENCE WITHOUT EACH TEAM LIAISON OFFICER BEING IN PLACE ALONG WITH THE GROUND MANAGER.
