Congratulations to the Aquinas Colts on a very successful “Back to Blaxland” weekend which saw some big crowds and some big wins for the Colts.
Most notable was a 16-14 win over Gymea in a very hard fought battle in the Power Waste Management Cup, and their u18 gold boys rolled Corrimal 16-6 to take their first win of the season.
On another note, its disappointing to see at this late stage of the season we still have some coaches and trainers who think they don’t have to abide by the Code of Conduct. Please be warned that breaches for abuse of match officials in particular will not be tolerated and teams may find themselves without accredited officials where this poor behaviour is evident.
With finals just around the corner its timely to remind all participants that we are all subject to the Code of Conduct, and the CJRL strive for match days and venues where everyone feels welcome. Players are reminded that swearing and foul language may incur a penalty by the match official so please check your behaviour.

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that Taren Point Titans announce the passing of one of our beloved members, Noel Thornberry.
Noel was a respected and cherished life member, an integral part of our Titans family who will be greatly missed. We know nothing made him prouder than seeing his son Declan put on the red and white once again to play for our open men's team this year!
Noel was truly an amazing person and always made the Titans proud!

Team Liaison Officer
Each team must provide a “Team Liaison Officer” (TLO) who will act as a contact point for the Ground Manager during fixtures at CJRL venues. Should supporters /spectators from either club behave in a manner that would previously been dealt with by the Ground Manager, from this point the Ground Manager will engage the relevant Team Liaison Officer to address this issue with the spectators involved.
The Ground Manager at each venue will hold two Hi-Vis Pink vests that each Team Liaison Officer will be required to wear during the course of the match so they can be easily identified. The TLO is to make themselves known to the Ground Manager prior to the start of the match, and names of each TLO recorded on match sheets.
The Team Liaison Officer will be required to remain near the bench area for his or her team during the match, but remain outside the roped/fenced playing area.
Ground Managers and Team Liaison Officers shall not be permitted to drink alcohol prior to or whilst acting in these roles.
The Team Liaison Officer will be required to assist in resolving any situation that may occur relating to their teams’ spectators/supporters. ie: trying to calm the situation down before it escalates.
The Team Liaison Officer will work with and assist the Ground Manager. The Ground Manager still has the responsibility of maintaining control of spectators, interchange bench areas, and liaising with match officials, this is not the role of the Team Liaison Officer.
At the end of the match the Hi-Vis Pink vest is to be handed back to the Ground Manager (not left on the interchange bench or on the ground).
The Team Liaison Officer (as per the Ground Manager) should be a person capable of maintaining a calm demeanour and be a minimum of 18 years of age. Ideally the TLO would be someone closely aligned with the team but cannot be carrying out an accredited match day role (coach, trainer etc).
NO MATCH IS TO COMMENCE WITHOUT EACH TEAM LIAISON OFFICER BEING IN PLACE ALONG WITH THE GROUND MANAGER.

The Engadine Dragons had a big weekend hosting the Val Kearns Shield clash v Bosco which they won, celebrating some big milestone games in senior grades and holding their annual club dinner which raises funds to support club senior and junior programs, and the Mental Fitness 4 Life Program.
MC Anthony Maroon did a great job as usual, with legends Laurie Daley and Mark Geyer keeping the crowd entertained.
And they received some feedback from a parent on Sunday that makes all the hardwork worth it!
My daughters name is Isabelle Simpson and we signed her up to league tag this year in the girls league tag under 7’s 2nd team.
Isabelle is on the autism spectrum and has a mild intellectual disability.
She has slowly warmed to playing league tag and each week participates a little more.
She has talked about winning the trophy for player of the match all year and this week she got it.
I wanted to say thanks so much for all the parents that have been so welcoming at the club, the parents in our team that are so accommodating to us, and a special mention to Isabelle’s coach Ben who has been patient and encouraging for her all year. She was over the moon with excitement getting the award this morning

The Engadine Dragons hold the u17 premiership trophy aloft after defeating De La Salle in the 1984 decider.
The Engadine Dragons will celebrate 40 years since their 1984 u17 premiership team, which went on to more success in 1986 in the u19 competition, and in u23s in 1987. Several players from this team went on to play for the Sharks at NRL level (Ken Ebb, Paul Bell, Mitch Healey, and others were graded at St George (Shaun O’Bryan, Glenn Nelson, Anthony Knight, Kevin Green, Adam Brown).
The club extends an invitation to all former players and coaching staff involved with this team to join the celebration on Sat 3 August at Anzac Oval, when they take on local rivals Bosco Bulldogs from 3.10pm.
Celebrations will commence at midday at Engadine Bowling Club, before heading down to Anzac Oval for the Power Waste Management Cup clash.
Jeff Killick who calls our BarTV match of the round was a part of this premiership success in 1984 and 1986, and will call the game from Anzac Oval including interviews with members of the successful Dragons team including South Sydney hooker Ken Stewart who coached the team to success. Jeff still has fond memories of the team.
“As a kid, I loved watching Ken Stewart as Souths Sydney hooker growing up, then to be coached by him was very special. It was my first ever premiership after 10 years playing junior league, something I will never forget” – to be able to celebrate this success 40 years later with the same blokes is amazing”
