We are continuously growing our network to share our services with more businesses.

We have three WēConnect Internet service offerings available for business and all are provided with fiber from our data center to the edge device we provide onsite. We allow you to choose your bandwidth to best fit your needs.

With more than 650 acres of parkland, 51 miles of trails, 20,000 trees and premier facilities, including a newly expanded 140,000+ square-foot community center, it’s clear to see why Westerville residents say they live in a “city within a park.”

Thanks to years of thoughtful planning, 95 percent of City homes are located within a half-mile of a developed park. The City is a five-time National Gold Medal winner for excellence in planning and resource management as recognized by the National Recreation & Parks Association (NRPA). In fact, Westerville has the distinct honor of being one of the only cities to receive the recognition four times consecutively.

Each year, more than a million people of all ages and abilities use the City’s parks system. In 2022, more than 120,000 people attended events and classes

offered through the department, which also hosts more than 2,000 programs a year. Westerville Parks and Recreation has grown through decades of citizen commitment, giving volunteers, engaged residents, active program participants, park system users and generous, dedicated funding.

Uptown Westerville Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit charity and a public-private partnership comprised of Uptown business and property owners, residents and representatives of major institutions in Westerville - the City, the School District, the Chamber of Commerce, the Library and Otterbein University.

Uptown Westerville offers activities to enjoy throughout the year. The Uptown Cookie Walk, Ghost Story Tours, street festivals on the Fourth Friday of each month from May through October, a seasonal Saturday Farmers Market, concerts on the City Hall Courtyard, an uber local craft beer festival, and an array of activities during the Holidays.

Westerville Central High School students in Autumn McCormick’s AP Biology class explore genome editing through a CRISPR Cas9 lab. The technology allows scientists to potentially remove mutations and replace them with the desired DNA sequences.

Our College Credit Plus and Career Pathways program has allowed us to forge new and strengthen existing relationships with higher education institutions and business so students can earn the credentials needed to fill some of central Ohio’s fastest-growing jobs.

Otterbein University A True Community Resource From its founding in 1847, Otterbein University has operated on the principle that an educated citizenry would benefit the community. The collaboration that has grown from that foundation is most readily expressed in The Point, a 21st century incubator to economic innovation.

Bringing education, industry and government together, The Point advances concepts from ideation to the marketplace. Local businesses provide Otterbein students with experiential learning opportunities from community service to internships, while Otterbein prepares the employees of today and tomorrow with its new Otterbein READY career and professional preparation program.

Otterbein contributes to the vibrance of Westerville with its arts and athletic scene, world-renowned guest lecturers, event venues and its strength as a strategic partner to achieve business goals.

Otterbein partners with WeRISE for racial justice and was the first university in Ohio to be selected by the American Association of Colleges and Universities to host a Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Campus Center.

Recently, Otterbein and Antioch University announced their intention to affiliate with each other to create a unique, national, nonprofit university system focused on educating students both for careers and to prepare students to advance social justice, democracy and the common good.

Otterbein is recognized by Colleges of Distinction, with additional Field of Study recognition in business, education, engineering, nursing and career development. U.S. News Best Colleges ranks Otterbein in the top

Westerville City Council Know Your Local Representatives

Academies in Citizenship The City of Westerville offers a few academies to raise awareness about its day-to-day operations.

The seven members of Westerville City Council represent residents as local government’s only elected officials, per the City Charter. As Westerville’s legislative body, City Council sets policy, establishes goals, approves and oversees the City’s annual budget. Formal Council meetings generally occur on the first and third Tuesday of every month, followed by informal work sessions on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. These meetings are open to the public unless otherwise advertised as part of an executive session and may be accessed at www.westerville.org/tv. City Council also considers recommendations from eight different city boards and commissions, that evaluate matters of special interest in a number of different areas.

More than 100 years ago, Westerville became one of the first municipalities in Ohio to adopt the Council-Manager form of government. To this day, the City Manager leads day-to-day operations in Westerville and reports to City Council. This has helped ensure the continuance of stellar city services and the strong, steady growth of Westerville’s residential and business communities.

The Fire Division offers a Citizen’s Fire Academy to all Westerville and Blendon Township residents.

The 12-week program takes participants through basic training scenarios in firefighting and EMS. Graduates will earn certification in first aid and CPR and are invited to join the Citizen’s Auxiliary Resource Team, a volunteer group that assists the Fire Division with numerous community events throughout the year.

The Citizen Police Academy is a 12-week class designed to increase citizen awareness of the day-to-day operations of the division through instruction on topics relative to the role of law enforcement in the community.

Participants will learn topics such as the division’s organizational structure, drug investigations and officer training. They also participate in activities such as mock building searches and simulated traffic stops.

The popularity of the fire and police academies inspired the city to offer a Westerville Citizen Academy. The eight-week program offers a behind-the-scenes access to known and little-known city programs and services. Classes are interactive and include activities like exploring equipment, facility tours, demonstrations and handson activities. All residents are invited to participate, especially those who have an interest in serving the community on a Board or Commission.
